weight loss 4 weeks post op

I was at about 20# lost at the 3 week mark, and haven't moved since! A little up and down, but pretty much holding steady the last two weeks. I'm going to start running. Hopefully that will kickstart some weightloss.
  2. When I returned to work after two weeks off my coworkers noticed, and I had only lost 14 lbs! My parents, on the other hand, who I had seen the day before surgery, still haven't noticed lol.

    Maybe tmi...changes in monthly cycle?

I'm 5 weeks out and haven't had a period since surgery. Fingers crossed that when it returns it will be business as usual.

    lower bmi and surgery

I had pretty much identical stats. Sleeved just after Thanksgiving and down 20 lbs. From a size 14 to size 12. That's even with some holiday treat cheating. I'm gearing up to start exercising and expect that weight loss to speed up.

    Sticker shock!

I've been searching for a drugstore Vitamins that meets the bariatric standards and haven't found anything yet. I'm doing two chewables daily. They're super gross and I'd love to find something else [emoji23]. I'm also doing bariatric calcium chews. Again, haven't found a drug store equivalent. Everything else I'm getting at the drug store. Biotin, probiotic, and Iron (vitonC, which is easy on the stomach). I haven't done the math, but these things are not terribly expensive and are things I probably should be taking whether I had surgery or not.

    Time off of work

I'm not even at 6 weeks and can't imagine still being off. I'm 99% back to normal and have been for weeks. I didn't have such a prolonged liquid phase, though. I don't think I'd have the energy to work on an extended liquid diet, regardless of whether I had had surgery!
  7. I'm taking... 2 bariatric formulated chewables 3 bariatric calcium chews 2 biotin gummies 1 vitronC (iron) 1 probiotic
  8. I let a Sun Chip disolve in my mouth, lol. I was desperate for something other than protein drinks and soup.

    Family at hospital?

My husband was with me until they wheeled me in for surgery, and they brought him in about 5 minutes after I woke after surgery. Surgery was only 45 minutes, so he sat in the waiting room less than an hour but was otherwise with me the whole time. I was outpatient, so we went home together shortly after surgery.
  10. My doctor said most people are fine to return after one week. He wanted me home for two weeks because I have a very physical job. The return has been fine, though navigating "learning" the sleeve, what to eat, etc has been a challenge.

    Which recovery was worse?

The recovery was similar for me, though the gallbladder was actually a tiny bit worse. Both were out patient, I was up walking around pretty quickly after surgery. The sleeve was more consuming, since you're learning what you can eat/etc, but as far as physical recovery from the actual procedure, the sleeve was the easier of the two, but they were pretty close to a tie.
  12. Happens every time I have chicken or turkey. It made for a really uncomfortable and embarrassing episode at a holiday party! I seem to be fine with everything else, but poultry only seems to work out for me if it's deli slices or in soup.

    Starting to think about clothes

I'm so excited about dressing my shrinking body that I don't mind spending a little on clothes that may not be worn for long.

    Any regrets??

Only regret is not doing it years ago when I first started considering it.

    Spicy food

I'm only 11 days out so not a ton of experience, but I've been putting hot sauce on all the bland foods I'm allowed in this phase, lol. So far, so good. Also have no problem w/the broth from spicy soups like tortilla soup and chili.

    Which Fitbit is the best??

The AltaHR does everything the ChargeHR2 does except steps. The display is a little weird because it's thin (the width of the original fitbit). I found the ChargeHR2 to be a bit large for my wrist so I went with the Alta, but my daughter has the ChargeHR2 and doesn't mind the size.
  17. At two weeks I'm supposed to add soft foods as tolerated. Specifically mentioned are ground meats, poultry/fish, well cooked/soft vegetables, chili/soup, adding additional plan-approved foods (no bread, junk) as tolerated.

What to put in my hospital bag?

I was outpatient. I packed a pair of yoga pants and panties, but was provided sweats and an oversized shirt for surgery and sent home wearing that. I brought a pillow for the ride home, but didn't need it. I was provided water, and had chapstick in my purse which I did use.

    How much walking?

Just guessing based on the username, I'm thinking that's Nov 2, not Feb 11.

    Is there something wrong?

I'm 8 days out. After day 4 or so I could drink quite a bit of water or broth in one sitting. The same isn't true for the thicker foods my plan allows (yogurt, cottage cheese, scrabbled eggs) so I've been doing those for meals instead of broth. For broth I've been going to Whole Foods and getting the broth from their market soups, and giving them a once over with an immersion blender just incase there's anything chunky hiding in there. So much more satisfying than plain broth.
  21. Today marks one week and I'm down 12 pounds. That's way better than I expected, considering my surgery BMI was 35, but I'm expecting it will slow a bit from here on out.
  22. I'm doing gummies. I know they're not recommended, but I can stomach them so that's a win in my book.

    Plastics or no plastics ?

Definitely having a breast reduction. That was actually one of my motivations to have wls. My heavy breasts are killing my back and my insurance denied me for a reduction. You have to be under 30 BMI to be considered. So it was out of pocket for best reduction, or out of pocket for wls and let them cover the reduction.
  24. I'm only 6 days out so they're not scars yet, but I have 5 incisions. One is teeny tiny. Thee steristrip has already fallen off (it's on my bra line) and the scalp is just larger than a pen tip. The steristrip on the others are only about 1/4", so I expect those incisions are pretty small as well. My gallbladder scars are much larger. I'm 5 years out from that and you have to be inches from my belly to see them. I imagine the same will be true for these ones.

    Sleeping

Try a firmer space, even if it's the floor. I spent the first night of recovery (as well as that day, sleeping on and off) in a hotel room. I was surprised at how comfortably I could sleep, considering how painful it was to lay on my bed after my gallblader surgery a few years ago. I attributed it to my miraculous recovery or the wls being somehow 'easier'. Until I got home. My bed is SOOO uncomfortable right now. I attempt to sleep there every night, but have found myself on our very firm sofa of on the floor. Last night I stayed up all night mattress shopping, lol.
