GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +
Danna Marie replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
I’m still in the beginning stages. My insurance requires me to wait 9 months and have nutrition classes during that time. After the nine months they will submit my request and medical records to the insurance company for review and approval for the surgery. I’m working on my 7th. month. I started this journey weighing 394lbs. I am now down to 335 lbs. Tho I have lost weight I personally can’t tell because I’m so critical of myself. I have friends who say they can tell I’ve lost weight but I really can’t tell a difference. I do fear that I’m not going to drop a good amount of weight after surgery. -
Has The Way People See/Treat You different Now?
Danna Marie posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At my current job I take care of special needs children and children with behavioral issues in a school setting. Tho my coworkers constantly request me to work In there classrooms because I am good at what I do, my supervisor seems to think that since I am fat then I must be a lazy worker regardless of of recommendations I’ve gotten. Since I haven’t had my surgery yet I was wondering If those who have already had the surgery have noticed that people have started treating you better because your no longer the fat and obviously lazy person? People who maybe talk to you now that never even notice out before? -
I was told since l’m Just starting the whole process that I need to totally cut out all carbonated drinks and caffeine. My Brother had the lap band and then the sleeve will drink sod occasionally. But giving up caffeine i’m Not so sure about.

So here it is 3:00 in the morning and I sit here crying and popping motrin because my breast are literally feeling like I have them in some kind of mashing device. Why you may ask? The only reason I can come up with and that's only because I done something different that I've done before. I decided that since I hadn't exercised today and I don't own any gym equipment that I would set my timer and would stand in one place and take turns doing various exercises. I did have on 2 bras for extra support but I guess what I have isn't as effective as it needs to be. All of the running in place has inflamed my breast tissue. Never have my breast felt such pain. I was the type that could pretty much mangle them and never really had them ever hurt. Don't worry I've had a mammogram within the past month and that came back clear. It just sucks that I'm going to have to either find a sports bra that can support my big ole Tripple D's or change my workouts. With Christmas coming up I really don't want to have to spend on a sports bra and as anyone who is plus sized with big ole hooters can tell you "GOOD BRAS DON'T COME CHEAP!!"

I’ve been released.

I’m not even close to being sleeved yet and I’m a nervous nelly. -
I was wondering that myself. I just had my first appointment to get the process started. I didn’t have any questions during my first meeting with the dietitian but now I have a book full. The popcorn question was one of them because I’ve always enjoyed popcorn when watching movies.

I see that you had your tatts before your surgery. Have you found that they don’t look the same since dropping so much weight? Danna Marie

Hi. I haven’t had the surgery yet but when I worked for Jenny Craig (crazy I know) the one thing they taught their clients was when you start to stall that’s the time to increase your exercise a little more and you will start losing it again. I’ve also been told that when you think your hungry wait and if your truly hungry you will feel a sensation in your throat. I don’t know if any of this is helpful but any response is better than nothing, or so I’ve been told.

Looking for a Sleeve Buddy!!
Danna Marie replied to Danna Marie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think that’s where I am at the moment. I keep looking and thinking OMG I’m never gonna eat that again. But like you I have a lot of medical issues that are keeping me from doing all the things I love. I use to love to go to amusement parks but now I just don’t fit. So I know it’s time to do something. -
Looking for a Sleeve Buddy!!

Hi Donia! I just started my journey and had my very first meeting on Oct. 30th. I’m about 8 months out from having my surgery. My insurance requires a 9 month waiting period in which I have to see all the different specialist to make sure I am healthy enough for the surgery. Are you excited or worried about your surgery? What’s been the hardest part of your journey so far. -
I am just starting my bariatric journey. I have been overweight my whole life and have spent years on the yoyo diets. No at the age of 41 I feel like if I don't do something about this weight now then I'm going to end up not being able to walk and having to rely on someone else for the rest of y life. I had my first appointment with the dietitian to get the process started. My insurance requires a 9 month waiting period in which I have to show that I am serious about losing the weight. However my weight can't drop below 300 lbs. because that will drop my BMI too low for the surgery. I've been trying to cut back on the carbs but I think I a, little confused as to how that works. I thought you subtract the total amount of protein from the Carbs to get your true carb total. I also just watched a video of the surgery and I am a bit freaked out. I guess I am a bit overwhelmed.
