Comment your favorite protein shake/powder/drink!!
Katya replied to Road2Newme3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Addicted to my protein shakes. I love them! They are loaded with carbs and caffeine, but they've worked great for me for 3 years. I drink one every single morning. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
The balloon inflation was also something that was talked about for me. My daughter got too sick too quickly, and they did not catch it in time despite my pleas to give her IV nutrition. She is now permanently disabled from an all over brain bleed (Wernicke's Encephalopathy) due to lack of vitamin b1. I am so thankful that your doctors are taking this seriously and giving you the IV nutrition. She ended up with a J tube feeding tube after the damage was already done. Mine resolved on its own, it just took a lot of time. Look into trying these shakes to help as well. They really have been a tremendous help for us. I hope all the best for you, and please keep updating. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

It was a big challenge for the first couple of years. On April 1st I quit smoking and I started receiving steroid injections in my neck. Since then, no problem gaining. I don't have any problem eating. I love to eat. I just get frustrated that it's so little then starving again in an hour. I hope your eating gets better for you. I know it's exhausting both mentally and physically. We don't run into too many people like us, and people aren't always too friendly about it either. I've had some pretty nasty comments thrown my way. It's nice to meet someone else that knows the what it's like. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Same for me. On April 1st of this year I weighed 102. I just had my 3 year surgiversary on November 4th and weighed 112. I typically weigh about 115 most days now, and I look much better with those extra pounds. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm 3 years out, and I get hungry, very hungry. I eat a lot of junk, but I get ridiculously hungry within an hour or two no matter if I eat dense protein or a bag of chips. I can stave off the hunger as long as I don't eat. Once I've had my first taste of food for the day, I feel like I'm starving for the rest of the day. I typically don't eat until dinner for this reason. I'm not having any problems keeping the weight off. I am at 112 right now, but will go as high as 117 and as low as 110. I understand. I got too low as well, down to 102 on 5'4" body. The difference for me was I did have an appetite. I was able to eat cookies, pizza, pasta, chips, etc., and still keep losing. The drastic losing finally stopped after about 14 months, and I've regained to 112 now at 3 years. My doctor told me to eat whatever I could high calorie, even recommended McDonald's French fries to get my BP to come back up as it was hanging out in the 70's/40's. The same thing happened to my daughter. While eating worked for me, we had to resort to the high calorie Ensure shakes for my daughter to get her weight back up. You may need to look into those. She eats just fine now, and also has regained to a healthy weight at 2 years. I hope you're able to find a solution and that your fears are eased soon. I know that worry, it's not fun. What do you think of these pre-op shake brands?
Katya replied to 823freckles's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Your doctor sounds like a sadist. 4 weeks seems ridiculously long. Sorry I can't help since I don't have experience with any of those brands, but I have heard good things about Advocare. Stay strong! You can do this. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

3 years out and still get the hiccups after I eat. It's my sign that I'm full. They come a little later now, well after I already know I'm full, so they're not so helpful anymore at letting me know when to stop. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
