    Realize Band

Hi, I was reading a post about a new Realize Band. Is this new? I will be banded 5/6 and wondering if my Dr. will use the lastest and updated Band. Just wanted to check here first.
  2. Hi, I asked right after surgery when I would be able to do some stretch exercise and other exercise I need to do for my back. The Dr. said start tomorrow. I didn't of course, or sore and scared. Surgery 5/6 and did them for the first time today. This was just my case anyway.
  3. Hello, I had my surgery at Clovis, CA/Dr. Higa. All went Great, very little discomfort. I have only one problem. I was told to take Milk of Mag for constipation. They said, I need to have some gas and BM, to let them know all is working properly. The Milk of Mag hasn't worked. I took it last night. My husband said, dont take any more. I have been on a clear liquid diet, and am not hungry. I have no pain. Does any one have any advice. I called my Dr's office, but no one was in and I hate to call the Dr at home if I don't need to. Does anyone have there solution handy? Thanks and I am so happy and grateful for this Band and the hope it has given me.

    Surgery May 12th

Congratulations!! I have been on clear liquids counting the day before surgery=9 Days. I had a very easy day today, but I feel weak. No real hunger. I had some depression, and with that always hunger. This time I recognized it for what it was and ignored it. It left me. I hope you have a good and easy time with your clear liquids. ttyl Dicev
  5. Hi I was banded 5/6. Dr put me on clear liquids for 1 day prior surgery and 1 week after. 2nd week: soft foods mashed potatos, mashed hard boild eggs creamy soups 3rd week: most foods except stead and some breads.Avoiding foods that expand when soaked, like popcorn, macaroni, tortillas or bread. Other food to avoid--but this is my plan. I found with clear liquids I have real easy days and some I get just a little hungry. Love it!!
  6. Hi Nicole8wing Thank you for your reply. I haven't had any problem with gas yet. I read, I think here on the Forum, that Protein powder may be a cause if it is milk based. Anyway, I was put on clear liquids only. Like you, I feel very satisfied and even to full if I don't watch it. If I would have read your post first I wouldn't have taken more Milk ofMag..I didn't take as much and maybe I won't cramp to much.

    Worried

Hello froggi1985, I read your post, and I don't have an answer. I don't know how they look at our past histories. I have had a history too, as probably many have. Mine was longer in the past, and that's where I left it. I will be thinking of you. Not knowing can be nerve racking and I hope someone can give you more information on this issue. Let us know and post again during your wait if it helps just to know you bounce off your apprehension feelings. Aren't they a Pain!!
  8. Hi Connie

I started clicking buttons and found your post. I don't know how to use this site. I use to get post to a new thread and then get post replying. I don't get that any more probable because of my pushing buttons. I know I clicked of linear posts to something else.

    Anyway to answer your questions..

Know I live in Jamestown. My Insur. chooses the hospital and Dr you go to. Fresno was the choice. Dr Higa and Clovis Hospital. I have it this Tuesday.

    Anyone have the Realize band?

I am having my band put in on May 6th. I didn't realize there is a difference in bands. Do you think I can rest assured the best will be used?? I would think the Dr. would use the latest and best. I can ask my surgeon on the 5th if I am given any say in the matter. This is interesting. Can anyone tell me anymore on it?

    No Alcohol HAIR PRODUCTS?

Hi, The Nurse just called today from the hospital where I will be having LB surgery. The instructions she gave me was to take my thyroid meds at 6am in the morning with a little water. bathe with bacterial soap (like Dial) Wash my hair, and put absolutely nothing on my hair-hairspray, no deodorant, perfume etc. But, to tell you the truth I was so nervous that I may have gotten it wrong. I have had 3 calls from the hospital so far..my advice get a pencil and pad handy when it get nearer to your surgery date. Write down what she says, don't count on memory. That is if your the nervous type.
  11. Hi, I just read your post. There is a brand of protein drink I think Unjury.. they have Chicken Broth flavored Protein dring. Very good. Couldn't you add unflavored, which they have too, to chicken broth? I have surgery on this Tuesday. Thanks for this post, I'll be prepared.

    Fresno Area Lap Band Surgeons

Hi, I just read your post. I am going through ALSA in Fresno. I saw Dr. Boone, and he was just as you said. I changed my mind and decided to go Lap Band. I couldn't feel the RYN was for me. I'm seeing Dr Higa and will have my surgery May 6th. I heard from my GP (new just started with) that Dr. Felix was supposed to be very good. Changing your mind is not to popular with ALSA. Dr. Higa is more personal and approachable than Dr. Boone. However, friends have had Dr. Boone and have really liked him and trust him. To me having nice, caring and understanding office staff is so important. I just want my Dr to be good at what he does. I need the staff to understand where I may be coming from and be nice to me. Good Luck and if you've had your surgery or going to have it I Wish You the Best.

    Post op 6 days

Thanks for your post. I have my surgery May 6th. I will be interested in reading about experiences.
  14. Oh Lord, I just read your post. Waking up with that tube in your throat, are they kidding??? Who is going to remain calm??? On the other hand, I'm glad they let you know it's a possibility--I would just know, I had died and gone to hell. I'm so glad you wrote about this. I have my surgery on Tues May 6th. This will give me time to process and adjust to utter disbelief!! What if you wake up before they are through operating? I'm sitting here laughing. Too much!! It goes to show just how badly we want and need this surgery doesn't it? Thanks

    May 5th Bandsters???

Hey, I answered this post as a May 5th. Wrong! My pre op Lab Work is on the 5th Surgery on the 6th.. Sorry Cinco De Mayo Bandsters, wish I was one of you--but I guess I can wait one more day.
  16. Hi I have my PreOp lab work done on the 4th and surgery the next day. I have one concern--"I don't want to fail in losing weight one more time." I feel like this LB Forum will be such a help. I wasn't put on any diet pre surgery by my Dr. My Insur. has a Nurse you can call and she gives advice to Bariatric patients. She told me to cut down on portion size and drink lots of liquids. Oh, and I got a Happy Birthday Wish Today from The Forum--Thank You dicev
  17. Hi to both of you--What an Adventure!! I get my LB on May 6th. I wish you both the very best and Happy Losing!! I hope you post often with your experiences. I am really counting on this website to help me through. dicev
  18. Hi Michi,My surgery is May 6th also. It's at 10:30. What time for you? I will be thinking of you. I am having mine in Clovis, CA.. dicev
  19. Hi, I am having surgery 5/6-out of town. We are taking our 5th wheel and plan on post op having a vacation. We wouldn't wander far from Hospital. Are we only dreaming?? I have no idea and after reading posts it looks like it's more or less a personal experience-differing. I have a bad back and leg--so my first concern was if I could struggle up the steps of our RV without hurting my surgery. I got a yes on that one--"just don't fall".. If we just take it easy, could it be possible--does anyone know? OR will I probably be miserable? Thanks, and if I don't hear from anyone we'll see... dicev:unsure:
  20. Hi I have been reading the posts on refills. What does PB stand for? Is there an Abbrev. list I could get? Thanks
  21. Hi Mary I just wondering if you take an anti depressant. I have been on one called Tofranil (Imipramine generic name). I a social event comes up and I get slightly excited, or nervous I sweat like crazy. I would need to rebath and redress. My Dr. years ago put me on an antiaxiety pill--just for these occassions. It was a God send. I don't know if this is your problem--but the sweating is no fun and ruins the event. dicev
  22. Hello, I want to introduce myself. I have a date for Lap Band May 6th... It will be 1 month from being 1 year since I started. Finally, I'm set for surgery and I can't wait. (my long wait was due to my indescission on which surgery I wanted. Started by wanting the Gastric By Pass R-Y-N, but I couldn't rest easy. I suffered through finally making a decission--it was hard. I'm 64 this month, weigh 215 and 5'2". FORUM IS SO VERY HELPFUL... dicev:rolleyes2:
  23. Hi, I will be getting my Lap Band 5/6th. I wish there was a support group in our small town. The closest is in another small town. Just thought I would give this a try. Thanks

    I'm approved!! (I think)

I can tell you how long my Insurance takes. Blue Croos Pers Choice They recieve the request, and I was told in about 5 days the consent or decline can be sent out. I do think the Dr's. Insur. person may not send request for one reason or another. So the request to Insur. may not be sent to on your time clock. I stalled my own process by changing my mind. I went from RYN surgery (Gastric Bypass), to deciding on a Lap Band plus another mistake on my part regarding my Insur. (center of excellence -approved Hosp) has made my wait-- 1 month shy a year since I started. I needed this time to be sure--but, I'm so glad it's almost here.
