    Favorite cookbook now?

Yes, LOTS of healthy recipes on Pinterest! You can even search Bariatric Recipes and it will give you a lot. I just pinned a bunch of healthy fish recipes as I will be adding fish to my diet next week. I’ve never cooked much fish so I need ideas. An added benefit to Pinterest is a lot of the links take you to blogs where someone has posted the recipe and most of them have comments from people who have tried the recipe and will say if it’s good. Some will also give ideas to modify the recipes to make them even better. Pinterest really is a gold mine!
  2. I had the same thing happen when I went back to work this week. “Real clothes” made my stomach really sore! I went to Walmart and bought some really soft black slip on pants that look nice but feel like pajamas. They were a lifesaver!
  3. I obviously don’t know what I’m doing yet. I somehow just quoted myself. Lol.
  4. Hello! I was sleeved on 2/27 and am doing really well, just still get tired really easily! I went back to work this past Monday. I’m on soft foods and my diet consists mostly of eggs and tuna salad right now. I’ve lost about 25 pounds since I started on the pre-op liquid diet. It’s coming off pretty slow but I’m trying to be patient. The weight didn’t come on overnight and it won’t come off overnight either. My biggest struggle is drinking enough water. Having a really hard time with that! I am able to stomach the Premier protein shakes again now, so that is really helping me get my protein. Nice to meet all of you!! HW 238 SW 228 CW 213
  5. One of the hardest things for me to adjust to is learning not to drink with meals or for 30 minutes after meals. I just saw this video on another social site and it really helped me to understand why it’s important not to drink during/too soon after meals, so I thought I’d share! (Sorry if this has been shared on here a lot before...I’m new here! [emoji6])

    Hello!

Hi everyone, My name is Donia and I live in Oklahoma. I will be having gastric sleeve surgery in 2-3 months and wanted to introduce myself. I have been busy with appointments and learning from my dietitian, exercise specialist, and others to help ensure a safe and successful journey. I have started really focusing on my protein intake and am amazed at what a difference it makes. So glad to have found this group!

    Is there an app?

No problem! It’s a learning curve for all of us! [emoji4]

    Is there an app?

My understanding is we should and probably will stay under 100 g of carbs after surgery because we are supposed to focus on eating our protein first, then veggies, and carbs being our last priority. I think we will naturally stay below 100 g if we adhere to that method of eating. As for sugar, that is considered a simple or refined carb and should be avoided as much as possible because it ups our carb intake without giving us any beneficial nutrients. Our carbs should consist of “good carbs” - fruit, starchy veggies, etc.

    Is there an app?

Carbs less than 100 (to get our bodies ready for the liquid diet when our carb intake will be very low).

    Is there an app?

I use an app that my dietician told me about called Baritastic and really like it. It is very user-friendly! It calculates protein, carbs, calories, fat, etc. and is specifically for bariatric patients.
  11. My dietician told me to eat five-six times a day...breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and (optional) snack. At first I was like, “What??”, but it has been amazing! I haven’t been hungry at all and I have actually lost 2-3 pounds (about 1 pound per week). She also told me to sub one meal with a protein shake. So here is a typical day for me: breakfast- premier protein shake (followed by one cup of half-caff coffee lol) snack - 2 sticks of low fat string cheese and 1 or 2 blueberry belvita breakfast biscuits, lunch - varies (usually soup, salad, or sandwich), snack - hard boiled egg and a few pretzel crackers, dinner - it varies, but usually consists of a meat and 1 or 2 veggies. I️ have also discovered that ZonePerfect protein bars are really tasty and I️ will sometimes have one of them as a snack. I have pretty much given up pop and am drinking water and decaffeinated tea. I am amazed at how good this has made me feel! The key is to focus on protein for snacks and meals but to pair it with some good carbs for energy. My daily goals are 75 g of protein and
  12. This is the one I bought and I am very happy with it. It doesn’t have a “spout”, but it does not leak at all. I love the blender ball because I am a texture person (I want my drinks to be super smooth) and it does a great job of mixing them up well. Looking for a Sleeve Buddy!!

I’m excited! I think the hardest part for me so far has been mental. I keep thinking of all the foods I’ll be giving up and it’s hard because I love food! But the other day I had an epiphany and started making a “can’t do” list to compare to my “can’t eat” list, and the “can’t do” list is so much longer! I have severe arthritis in one knee and advanced arthritis in the other, which limits me greatly. So I’m ready to lengthen the “can’t eat” list in order to shorten the “can’t do” one!

Hi Danna, My name is Donia and I am 46. I just found this group yesterday! I’m about 2-3 months out from having gastric sleeve surgery. I’m in the phase of meeting with my dietician, exercise specialist, and others who will help me be successful in this journey. Where are you in the process?
