Almost quit on Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet
Sprinkles1 replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! So, my liquid diet was 30 days long. I was only allowed protein shakes and raw veggies. It suuuucked. I ended up cheating about...4 times. Badly. Like taco bell and fries from McDonald's bad. I did end up losing about 20lbs before surgery though and the last 1 1/2 weeks of my liquid diet I was on my best behavior because i was scared they'd open me up and be unable to preform the surgery. At first I didn't want to tell anyone I cheated because I didn't want anyone to stop believing in me or tell me "you must not be ready for surgery" but honestly, it happens. The moment I'd cheat, I'd pick myself back up and keep going. You got this. If you slip up, it isn't the end of the world. I'm currently 10 days post op and 7lbs down. If you need any encouragement, feel free to reach out to me! Btw, the liquid diet after surgery is literally no better than the liquid diet you're currently on. Maybe that's just me though. Been sipping on liquids as meals for nearly 5 weeks now. *dead* -
Thank you very much for sharing! It makes me feel really good to know I'm not alone. You're right! I just have to give my body time. It just stinks when the majority of people felt pretty decent soon after the procedure. You don't have any more gas pain? Do you still wake up in pain? The doctor told me it was gas pain... idk how it could be gas pain nearly 9days after surgery. Sigh. I'm starting to feel a little depressed. I just want to feel as close to normal me as possible. I keep telling myself that the pain is temporary. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Ahh, I see. That's such a tough decision! I say go through with the surgery, meet someone, and then start trying to conceive. At least if you get pregnant by 39-40 you'll be the best you possible!
-
Hmm... That's tough. I know that by losing more weight you'll be able to conceive better, but by giving yourself a time limit of 3 years to get married and have a baby... that's kind of hard. Do you have a significant other already? What do they think? Would you be able to keep the weight off when you conceive? Otherwise, might be best to wait. Your decision though!

Waking up after sugery
Sprinkles1 replied to baribetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I woke up in severe pain. Hard time breathing and had to be put on oxygen. Could barely walk. Back hurt because of the hospital bed. I felt better when I was home from the hospital 2 days later. I'm a week post op and still in pain. It's different for everyone. No regrets! Definitely 100% take chapstick Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Everytime someone calls me now they ask so how much weight you lost?
Sprinkles1 replied to Marissa37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the same thing! I told everyone. During my preop diet everyone was on me about my weight loss and 1 week after surgery I've gotten texts about it. I understand they're curious but... dang. I just tell them I try not to weigh myself too frequently. Maybe about one every 2weeks. Which is a lie Haha Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
On full liquid diet.... what are you eating?
Sprinkles1 replied to Sprinkles1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll have to look into making my own! I'm not eating nearly anything all day, which isn't healthy but everything else is blah... I'm jealous! Can't wait until I can have scrambled eggs! I have like 10 days left of this stuff. Cheating with 1 egg is better than cheating with junk! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
6 days post op- still not up to par
Sprinkles1 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, I should probably be posting this in the post op forms, however, I think it's important for the pre-op peeps to see! I had surgery on Monday, 4/23 and have been in some pretty bad pain. This post isn't meant to scare anyone, and I'm not saying I regret it. I just think it's important that you're not as naive as me! I went into having surgery literally thinking it would be a walk in the park. Maybe I'd be a little sore, but all around good. Wrong. After surgery, my pulse at rest was high, so they had to do a CT scan. When you get a CT scan they make you drink this nasty liquid. They gave me 30 mins to drink half a cup. It hurt so bad, I was crying and thought I was going to faint. My pulse is still high, but after blood work and the scan, they determined it was just my body reacting to the surgery. My resting heart rate is still around 120. They said it should go down with time. I also have a very sharp pain in my lungs, they had to put me on oxygen for two days because I wasn't getting enough. I don't remember too much because I was all high on pain killers but the way my surgeon explained it is that a small tube in my lungs collapsed, and although it can be relatively normal, I need to work on taking deep breaths in order to pop the tube back open.If I don't work on my breathing I could get phenomena. My breathing has gotten better but even walking to the bathroom, I'm out of breath and takes A LONG TIME for me to catch it. Speaking of walking, that hurts too. In fact, everything hurts. My neck, back, shoulder, stomach... I feel like I took a relatively healthy (no co-morbidity issues) body and bang it pretty good. Before surgery I weighted 311lbs, after surgery I was so swollen and retaining fluid that I was 320lbs. I'm currently 310lbs. I'm never hungry, ALWAYS thirsty. I miss taking big gulps of liquid. The only thing I crave is coke! A big glass of coke with ice and a straw sounds amazing. I hope everyone has a better recovery than me. Just know that it may not be a walk in the park (although, I certainly hope it is!) Can't wait to be fully recovered! -
20 minutes to go! I'm nervous but soooo ready. Mostly I'm thirsty af! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

I can't seem to find any answers online but I'd love to get a tattoo this weekend, however my surgery is on Monday. Does anyone know if it's safe ti get a tattoo before surgery? I don't see how they could be correlated, but... rather be safe than sorry! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

YES! i Haven't been able to check my messages or anything. Every time I attempt to open it, it gives me an error and auto closes the app. So annoying. -
Just a question... I'm trying to buy some protein shakes and drinks so I'm ready for after my surgery. Has anyone tried isopure zero carb and premier clear? Which do you prefer and why?
