My story, WLS 2014
trailtramper replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You look amazing. I am sorry that you have had such a rough go of it, but I am happy that you have learned how to use your tool. I am having surgery on Friday, 11/17. I too get very busy and don’t eat sometimes. I have noticed that on my clear liquid preop diet I am still letting that happen. This is definitely making me weaker. If I am in a meeting for hours, it is tough to get something in, especially liquids. Have you developed any strategies for combatting this tendency? I bring food to work, but I still do it. I would love any advice you can offer for the long haul. -
Liquid Diet Started Today

I am not post op yet, but my doc gave me three different nausea meds. I hope they work. Good luck with yours. -

Thank you. I am excited to get past the 14 day liquid diet. I am on day 6, but it is really day 7 because I was in LA for business and did soup on day 1. [emoji3][emoji106] -
Liquid Diet Started Today
trailtramper replied to rayb70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 6 of my liquid diet. I don’t have head hunger anymore, but my stomach is definitely crying for food, and the headache won’t go away. I will make it, but man, is it tough. -

I am glad you are both feeling better. The bleed must have been scary. It’s my turn in one week, but I have had good luck with surgeries, so I am calm. -
Congratulations! It sounds like you are doing great.

My pharmacy had to order it, but it only took a day, and my insurance paid. It cost me $10. -

I am so glad you are okay and your nausea wasn’t too bad. I will keep that burp tip in my pocket for my turn. Take care of yourself. [emoji106] -

Thanks. I should have looked it up first. It is Emend. I have never had Post-Op nausea either, buy doc says this will cause it, and I will weigh more when I leave the hospital than on admission because he will fill me full of fluids.Good luck to you too! I think you are before me. [emoji3] -
any November 2017 sleevers?
trailtramper replied to Sugar42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just had my preop appt. with my surgeon. It went well. He is giving me a drug called Amend. You take one pill three hours before surgery, and it prevents post op nausea. He says he has used it in 700 procedures, and it works well. Insurance may not cover it, but it only costs $30. I thought I should mention this since so many people suffer with this. -
I got a push notification from Domino’s. I deleted the app and told the hubby he would need to get a smartphone or figure out how to call for delivery. [emoji23]

You were totally right. I have lived in the bathroom for the past three days. I hope it doesn’t last the full two weeks. Lol. -
HELP WITH LIQUID ONLY STAGE
trailtramper replied to Meguone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think my doc should have suggested I take the two weeks of the liquid diet off. The hunger and weakness are bad enough, but the headache woke me up because it got worse at 2:30 am. I think it has to go away at some point, but working is tough. Granted, I already have chronic pain including headaches, but this is ridiculous. It is too late to take off because I haven’t given my staff a plan yet. I am getting a massage Wednesday. Maybe that will help. Anyone else still having a hard time?. -

help choosing insurance
trailtramper replied to amandatruluck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We switched from United, which I loved, but now I love Cigna more. Cigna only requires 90 days with four weight loss visits, one dietician visit, psych eval, recommendation by pcp, and the rest is up to the surgeon. Here are the requirements and qualifiers https://cignaforhcp.cigna.com/public/content/pdf/coveragePolicies/medical/mm_0051_coveragepositioncriteria_bariatric_surgery.pdf -

I can’t do the shakes at all. It isn’t just the taste, but they make me queazy. My doctor approve for me to do these instead - see GenePro flavorless protein and Bariatric Choice Liquid protein (I like the berry flavor). Amazon delivers them fast if you are a prime member Or you can pay a little extra for delivery. -

any November 2017 sleevers?
trailtramper replied to Sugar42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad I am not the only one. I feel the same way. Some people on MFP were discouraging someone yesterday, and told her to come here. She made me think about why I am so sure. I truly believe it is because I have spent so much time preparing, mostly by absorbing information from those who have been through it and the doctors who have witnessed it all. -
Strictures/Stenosis?
trailtramper replied to CarpeDiem129's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have watched hundreds of videos by doctors and patients and haven’t heard of this outside of bites or gulps that are too large, except for one person. I know her personally. She had the Lapband, but she had swallowing issues her entire life. It got worse with the band, so the had to loosen it. My mom had to have her esophagus stretched after getting a piece of steak caught in it recently. She has not had weight-loss surgery. The cause for her is being overweight, so I wonder if that might have been the precursor instead of the surgery. -

Happy to help. I am glad the million posts I read and the hundreds of YouTube videos I watched are paying off for someone besides just me. I lost a lot of sleep reading and watching. This makes it worth it.
