  1. I had Rny about 7 weeks ago and last week at my follow up appointment, they asked me if I was feeling a lot more energetic. I told them that honestly no, I’ve been pretty tired. I have Hashimoto’s, so they did a full blood panel to see if that could be causing the problem or if it was something else. They called me with the results today and it turns out that the issue is actually my blood sugar. It was a 56 when they tested it and that was mid afternoon. I have been feeling dizzy/light-headed some too, but thought I had just gotten up too fast when that happened. They told me to take bites of cracker or another carb like that when my sugar gets too low, but I hate to do that since I’ve been avoiding carbs like the plague. I’m not now, nor have I ever been diabetic and I don’t take any medicines that would affect my blood sugar either. Has anyone else had this happen? Any other suggestions to help keep my sugars up with things we’re allowed to eat?
  2. I’m a big fan of TJ Maxx and Marshall’s too if you have those in your area. They have nicer options, but are way less pricey than most other places.
  3. What a difference! Congratulations!!!

    Straws

My doctor told me what browneyez said. That when we use straws, we inhale a lot of air which creates gas and can make it even harder to get in all of our liquids. For my program though, we get cleared to start using them at month 3. I thought it was weird that we couldn’t have fun too. They said it was for the same reason, but back at month 3. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Still working ....

You look amazing!!! Such a great inspirational post.
  9. I finally found something that I can tolerate. Have you tried Isopure Zero Carb protein waters? They carry them at GNC and they’re a clear liquid, not milky or chalky. I got the blue raspberry and have been adding some crystal light lemonade powder to them which makes it even better. They’re expensive, but at 40 grams of protein per bottle, they’ve been a huge help.
  10. Those things have been a lifesaver for me! I was doing fine on powders and premier before my surgery, but after anything milky or chalky was making me sick. They are expensive, but I’m so glad there’s an option with a lot of protein that I can tolerate. And I figure I was spending way more than $5 for a meal before surgery, so maybe it’s not too bad?[emoji16]
  11. I had RNY on Tuesday and was doing really well in the hospital. I walked a lot and found it easy to get in my protein and water. Now that I’m home though, it’s a different story. Even the thought of a protein shake makes me want to throw up. I’m handling crystal light and jello okay, but don’t know what to do about protein. I’ve been taking my nausea meds too, but they don’t seem to be helping. Help!
  12. Update: went to GNC and got some Isopure Zero Carb RTD’s. They’re expensive, but I can at least tolerate them since they’re more like flavored water than a milky shake. Hope that helps anyone else who’s struggling!
  13. Hahahaha! I love the advice and the encouragement Frustr8. And thank you all for the suggestions! They’ve seemed to lesson a little so hopefully it’s just some weird, temporary healing thing.
  14. Since surgery on Tuesday I’ve been having these weird things I can only describe as a cross between a hiccup and a burp. I get them a few times each hour, but not in a row like hiccups. And I’m not releasing any gas with them like you would a burp. All I know is that they’re very uncomfortable and I’d love to hear if anyone else has dealt with these and any suggestions for getting rid of the suckers.

    4 days post op

Don’t worry, I was in the same boat as you. I’m one week out now and finally starting to feel better. Definitely wish I had the same experience as the OP, but it sounds like we’re all a little different. You’ve got this girl! Give yourself a few more days and I bet you’ll start feeling a lot better. [emoji4]
  16. It was about the same for me too. You should be proud! A typical months worth of weight loss in such a short time is a big deal!

    Are TUMS a food group?

Acid reflux is the worst! My dose of omeprozole is actually split up into 20mg in the morning and 20 at night. You might check with your doctor to see if they could prescribe it that way for you too. I would definitely tell them about your morning reflux if you haven’t and see if there’s something else they’d recommend. Hope that helps!
  18. I’m with you Miss Tee. I HATE protein shakes right now. I had surgery 4/11 and am getting in one shake a day right now, but making myself sick doing it. Desperate to move on to puréed foods. Wishing you the best going back to work!
  19. Thank you both for your suggestions. I’ll have to try those. My doctor was super specific and wanted me on Celebrate 4 in one. It has vitamins in it, but that may be the part making me gag. I’ve got to do something at this point though.
  20. I’ve never heard of those before! I’ll definitely be googling them tonight though. Thank you for the suggestion!
  21. I started my pre-op diet on Monday and am already dreading drinking more cold, sweet protein shakes. I know this is just the beginning though, so I’m looking for some good protein mixers that are more on the savory side. Something warm would be a bonus too! I’ve heard using broth with unflavored protein works well. Just wondering if there are any other suggestions out there. Thanks in advance!
  22. That does sound good! I love coffee, so I’m betting I’ll love that too.
  23. I’ve never tried that brand before, so I’ll have to try it out. Thank you for the suggestion!
  24. I’m actually having RNY in the 10th as well. Nice to have some surgery buddies! I’ve been on here for a while just reading posts, but thought it was finally time to join in the conversation. Nerves are setting in, but I’m glad I won’t be going through this alone. Hope we can stay in touch!
