This has been a little bit of a problem for me as well. Although I am newly banded (5/22), I find myself asking my husband everyday what he had for lunch. He is in this with me and has lost 10 pounds in about 3 weeks. I really have to stop myself from saying anything when he tells me that he had a cheesburger for lunch. I know it is his body and, as long as he is eating right, working out and losing weight, I should not care if he has the ocassional treat for lunch.

I was banded on 5/22 and miss Diet Coke like crazy. I gave it up when I went on my liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery, but now I want it bad. Something about not being able to have it makes me want it even more. I also miss drinking out of a straw.

I have been asking myself that question a lot since I was banded on May 22nd. It has been 4 days, I am still in a fair amount of pain and on pain meds. Today is really the first day I have been hungry, but I am so thirsty for Water. I want to drink a huge glass of it, but know I can't. To make matters worse, my 18 month daughter has come down with a stomach bug and I haven't been able to see her since the day before surgery. Mentally I am crushed because she wants me and I can't be with her. I just need reassurance that things do get better.

Yvonne 72: I can have Water. I am just thirsty all the time and want huge glasses of water instead of just sips.

Thanks everyone for all the encourgement. I am doing much better today and have only taken my pain meds once. My daughter is also getting better. Soon we will be able to spend quality time together without my weight getting in the way. Can't wait.

How painful was the surgery for you?
sshaw9126 replied to Sarah.R's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 4 days ago and it has been pretty painful physically and emotionally as well. I am still on my pain meds and it is hard for me to get up and walk (I know I should do more of). Just wanted to let you know that it is not that easy for everyone! -
Hello everyone, I had my surgery yesterday and everything went great. I am in a lot of pain on my left side and my back today. I had no gas pain, which is good I guess. I am sipping liquids but not much. I feel like I should be walking around much more than I am, but the pain is preventing me from getting up.

Everything went fine with me yesterday, but I am in so much pain today. The pain meds are working, but still sore in between. Hopefully it won't last much longer. I too am having problems getting comfortable and can only lay on my right side.

41 hours and counting until I go in for surgery. I am feeling very nervous about the whole thing. Any last minute words of encourgement is greatly appreciated! I will let everyone know how it goes when I am feeling up to it.

4 Days Post Op-Lap Band Reality
sshaw9126 replied to cyndiloowho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad to know what I am feeling is normal. I am scheduled to be banded on Thursday and I keep thinking that I am not doing the right thing. -
Jimmy, I am on my 11th day of Optifast. The 1st 3 days were the hardest and I will admit that I did cheat a little in the first couple of days. No big meals, just 1 bite here and there. I will tell you that by day 11, food doesn't even taste that great anymore. Just keep your eye on the ultimate goal and you will be just fine.

I am doing ok with the liquid diet. 2 weeks is tough, but I am glad I am doing it so I can get my head right. I can't say I have been totally perfect on the liquid diet. Since I started, I have had 1 bite of something, last night it was chicken. Today is the day that I am sticking to it faithfully.

Hello everyone. My surgery date is also May 22nd. For everyone on the liquid diet now, how is it going? I am doing pretty good with it. I get really hungry when I get home and am fixing dinner for my 18 month old daughter. I have actually had 1 bite of something everyday since I started, but it has been high in Protein, not that I am trying to justify it. Last night was a bite of chicken. The thing is, after the 1 bite of chicken and then the Protein shake, I am miserably full. Today I am committing to only liquids like the doctor ordered.

Eagerbandi: I am on my 5th day of Optifast. It is not too bad. You kind of get used to it after a couple. I wouldn't call it great, but it is ok.

Hello everyone, I'm Shannon. I have been reading your posts for about a month now. I am set to be banded by Dr. Kim on May 22nd at the Prestonwood Surgery Center. I am excited and nervous at the same time.

Liquid diet anyone?

I was supposed to start today, but didn't get my Optifast in the mail until after I left for work this morning. I will be with you tomorrow! -
Banded 4/30 - My Story
sshaw9126 replied to Enchanted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the info. It is nice to know what to expect. My surgery is exactly 2 weeks from tomorrow! -
I scheduled my surgery for May 22nd. Since I am self pay, the process has been pretty quick for me. I had my first appointment yesterday. I also start the 2 weeks of Optifast tomorrow. I am starting to wonder if I am going the right thing. How am I going to get through the first 2 weeks of Optifast?

My insurance has an exclusion for weight loss surgery so I am self pay. My first appointment with the doctor is Tuesday (5/6). I was really excited about the Lap Band process until yesterday. I called my HR person at work to ask her an insurance question and she called our insurance rep to get the answer. The rep told her that I needed to be careful with getting the Lap Band since it is not covered. They told me that anything that goes wrong associated with it will not be covered by insurance either. This could potentially put my family in financial ruin. At first I was discourged but now I am mad. I just can't believe that insurance will happily pay for things that obesity causes. They are telling me that they will pay for the high blood pressure, heart disease, and whatever else my weigh may cause. You would think that as a company, they would be happy about the fact that I am getting myself healthier. I am now wondering if this is the right thing for me. Like most of you, I have tried and failed at every diet. I have been overweight most of my adult life. I feel like I NEED this to change my life.

I am also self pay and have my first appointment on Tuesday (5/6). I am using Dr. Kim at TLC Edge. My self pay price is $9,990, but that does not include the psychological evaluation and the pre opp liquid diet. As I understand it, everything else should be covered. If you are in the Dallas area, you might check them out!

I know what you are going through. My daughter was 10 days late! I tried it all....
