  1. I fairly recently started strength training with a trainer 2x per week. It is only 30 minutes per session but the trainers say more is not necessary. We work at exhausting each muscle group in the 30 minute period. They say to add 1 HIIT per week but I haven’t started that! Hence why I work with a trainer because I’m not good at getting it done on my own!!
  2. At least people say something. Last weekend for the first time I ran into someone and they said “you look great!” First. Time Ever. Really? Do I not look that different?
  3. I had to buy some size medium underwear this weekend. MEDIUM. Jeezo beezo. WOW! I still wear all my original unders! But the jeans... I have an entire box of jeans I can no longer wear.
  4. Update- just had my five month check up with surgeon. 1. He was thrilled with 60 lb loss (started at 247). So I guess I’m not such a slow loser. 2. He said I could cut back to one multi (non chewable), and Iron. He said the one thing I will never be able to give up is the B Vitamins. That will be for life (I am sleeved). Cool. I can do that! 3. hair loss- will probably continue at this rate until one year surgiversary. What?!? He recommended rogaine in the mean time.
  5. Going back to hair loss....geez when will it end. I also had long thick hair so no one notices but concerned how long it will last. What a toss up - you lose weight, feel better, look better and then your hair falls out and a part of you doesn’t look so great anymore!
  6. Has anyone decreased the amount of vitamins you take? Originally I was taking two multis a day but since about the holidays I only take one multi a day (and a B12 and my iron). My labs just came back and everything is great. I will ask the surgeon next week if I can stay on just one a day. Just curious is anyone else has dropped the amount of vitamins they take?

    On the go foods

One more thing- a few of the sit down restaurants do have soup.

    On the go foods

I was at Disney World in December. I am a few months out and way past the soft food stage. But I will tell you that you won’t find much you can eat in the parks. And ordering for yourself at one of the sit down restaurants is a total waste since you can’t eat much of it. Typically I would eat a small amount off someone else’s plate (for instance my husband got a club sandwich and I ate the meat and cheese off one of the wedges). We did bring in at least one meal everyday and ate it at an outside table. We also ate breakfast in the hotel every morning before we headed out (food we brought). We flew with a soft side cooler and brought yogurt, protein drinks, soft cheese, some pre-made lunch packs with meat, cheese and crackers, peanut butter, apple slices, etc. Know that you CAN fly with food as long as it is checked. And you can bring any food and drinks into the park. Finally, there are ways to have groceries delivered to your room both in and off Disney property. Check the web for details.
  9. Oh! And I went on an airplane....the seat was so much larger than before and the seatbelt closed with no problem. Whew! And then I went to a basketball stadium and that seat was comfy as well. Who knew?!? [emoji6][emoji3]
  10. I hardly ever post but this thread is my favorite. I started at 247 and hit onederland (and then some) earlier in December. I actually screamed and my husband came running. Oh the elation! I then proceeded to fall into the crazy of the holidays - didn’t track and pretty much grazed, drank alcohol and ate sweets. But that’s okay. I didn’t gain (okay the scale went up one pound) and jumped back into tracking the day after New Years. It felt good to eat and drink like crazy (like a normal person would during the holidays) and be able to just jump back into healthy eating and eat within control. That is what I love so much about my sleeve - I feel in control. And yes, I am a bit of a slow loser at 55 pounds lost but I just try to focus on what I can control - tracking, water, vitamins, etc. Sometimes it gets me down but then I remind myself I have NEVER lost 55 pounds in four months. Heck, I don’t think I have ever lost 55 pounds period. And yeah, no one has noticed (no one knows but my husband and sons) but oh well, I didn’t do it for them.

    Anxiety Before Surgery

Who doesn’t have anxiety before surgery? I know NO ONE who had ever had the surgery so I had no one to turn to with questions. There are lots of posts here about surgery recovery. Everyone is different but most are fine within a few days. The body is an amazing thing. Getting the gas out is the hardest part so walk, walk, walk. I think what most who have never had the surgery don’t understand is your body is now able to tell you what food you need and how much to eat. You just need to learn to listen. There is a great set of YouTube videos by Dr. Matthew Weiner. Watch them. They really help explain everything. Some of his philosophy is different from other doctors so follow the rules you are given. My favorite is when he explains how when the stomach is removed, it changes so many chemicals in the body it is like waking up and your brain/body now thinks it weighs 170 pounds. And your hunger and energy coincide with that. How cool is that?!?

    3 months post op

My doctor told me I was welcome to flat Diet Coke - no bubbles! I shake and release a plastic bottle until completely flat and then enjoy a glass every few days. Some people think that’s disgusting but I missed Diet Coke! My three months is next week. I am a much slower loser. *sigh* But it is coming off steadily so no complaints.
  13. I am almost three months out. This past weekend was my first real test - I had to have a family dinner with all my in-laws (who do not and will not know about my surgery). And they picked a nice Mexican restaurant! I ordered a drink because if I didn’t everyone would ask why. My husband helped me sip on it. We then split a meal. Funny thing is most normal size people split meals all the time and no one thinks anything about it! He ate the lion’s share and I had the grilled shrimp. No one noticed. I have also eaten at several work lunch meetings. Funny thing is that no one pays attention to how much I eat! I thought for sure someone would say something but it has never happened. Go out. Enjoy life. If someone does ask, just fib and tell them you had a big lunch.
  14. Your stats are almost exactly the same as mine!
