  1. Sorry but I need to vent today!! I was at the doctor's for my 6 month post op visit. Since surgery I have lost a total of 90 pounds. That is 90 pounds of hard work!!! Prior to seeing the doctor, I met with his assistant and a dr in training. As I was discussing progress, etc with the assistant, he turned to the dr in training and made a comment that "she JUST had the sleeve" done. Of course I asked what was meant by that comment. He quickly replied that if I would have had a bypass I would have lost more weight. Really!!! I went through all the pre op crap -- including liquid diet that a bypass patient would do. I went through surgery and spent two days in the hospital. I have totally changed the way I am living and I HAVE LOST 90 POUNDS in 6 months. Not a happy camper that I was told that I "just had the sleeve" done. I was a part of the decision as to what type of surgery I did and I do not regret my decision about the sleeve. It is working for me. Very frustrated with the comment. At least the surgeon was far more positive and supportive!! He told me that he was proud of me. Thanks for letting me vent!! Such a frustrating situation today.

    Gastric sleeve

Pretty typical problem to have post op. Make sure you are getting in your fluids each day. I have been able to move to raw veggies finally and that has helped.
  3. Braiatric Advantage has several flavors to try. I mix one packet with one cup of water and a few ice cubes in the nutri bullet and it is an easy on the go breakfast. Also have tried premiere protein shakes and syntrax nectar flavors. The Syntrax does not seem to mix well so I tend to not use it as much. Premiere Protein also has a clear protein drink. It only comes in two flavors (orange mango and raspberry) but it is nice to have as a change. It is good to have options so that you are not drinking the same thing every day. BORING.....
  4. Today had to be the most difficult day since surgery!! Attended my granddaughter's 2nd birthday party. Had a great time and am truly blessed that I was able to attend. Issue was the food The usual party food of pizza, cake, ice cream, pop, etc. I had packed a little bag of my own food but felt a bit uncomfortable pulling out my container of cottage cheese and sugar free applesauce while everyone else was enjoying everything else. Does this ever get any easier??? Getting worried about how to handle the holidays. My support group has a meeting this month on dealing with the holidays and hope that helps.
  5. Not sure exactly when I started having issues with GERD. Prior to surgery I took omeprazole (prilosec) 1x daily. If I had issues, I could directly connect it to what I had eaten -- spicy foods were a killer. Meds were not changed after surgery.
  6. I have GERD and had the sleeve. I have stalled for years about doing weight loss surgery because I did not want to do the bypass. When I was given the option of doing the sleeve, I was told that GERD might be worse, but I was willing to take the chance. Taking same meds that I have taken for years. Still early in the recovery so will see what lies down the road.

    Favorite Post-Op Recipes

Only one month out from surgery...how do you fit these recipes into a meal plan? My dietitian has been very specific with each meal (1 protein, 1/2 fruit, etc). How do you make a "recipe" from something like this??? Need some help getting moving on soft food meals. Finally graduated from pureed. Yeah!.
  8. Heading back to work this week following surgery. Doing ok at home with everything but so nervous!! At home I can eat or drink when needed. Work situation may not be as easy to accommodate schedule. Any suggestions???
