Week before surgery and feeling emotional
Samscoolmama replied to Cmfitz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good luck on your surgery. Listen to everyone who tells you to get up and walk. It makes a HUGE difference in your recovery in the hospital and the days afterwards. And you may feel emotional after surgery and cry for no reason. That's normal, too. It will go away. I promise! -
the transition from purée to soft food was so great. You actually get to test your sleeve and see what works and what doesn't. I've found that dairy and I now have a rocky relationship which I hear is normal. The first bite of a meatball was awesome. But I can hardly eat one which is such a new experience! What do you miss the most?

It's going! Lol. I get random abdominal pains if I do too much and have to take a pain pill. But I'm finally eating some actual food that I can chew so that's exciting! Lol

Week before surgery and feeling emotional

Your body is in shock because you're not eating food and you're probably in ketosis which means you're burning through fat, which releases stored hormones. This is a roller coaster filled with ups and downs, that's for sure. Whomever says this is the "easy way out" has never done it! -
Week before surgery and feeling emotional
Samscoolmama replied to Cmfitz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just try to relax these next few days. Practice deep breathing when you're anxious. Take relaxing baths because you won't be able to after the surgery for a bit and you'll miss them when you want to calm your emotions. Make peace with food and your relationship with it. Are you on a pre op liquid diet? -
Week before surgery and feeling emotional
Samscoolmama replied to Cmfitz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on 10-17 and I was totally emotional beforehand. Your whole life is about to change so it's normal. I found that saying goodbye to my old self and parting ways with her really helped me to embrace my new life, my new attitude towards eating, etc. You will most likely be emotional after your surgery, too, and that's normal. I wish you much luck and if you ever need someone to talk to who's able to empathize with you, feel free to message me! -

Weird Feeling in Chest. What is it?
Samscoolmama replied to Leo85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a pain in my chest as well and at my post op appointment today my surgeon said it's a muscular thing and not to worry. The more walking I do and continual healing will eventually alleviate the discomfort. That's not to say yours is the same thing- you should definitely talk to your doctor about it! -
I'm two weeks out and I have zero regrets. I feel like I got a second chance at life. But I do understand how you feel about missing food. My doctor requested I do a few extra days of full liquid so I have to wait until Friday to move to stage 3. Have you tried looking up recipes for your next stage? Maybe that will motivate you to get through the regret so you'll really appreciate the next type of food you're able to eat. I've already got my whole menu planned for Friday!

1 week post op
Samscoolmama replied to sweetsleeveday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 17th too. I have one week of clear liquid diet then ten days of high protein full liquid diet. At this point I am not going to give up because I don't want any complications. Yes, it's hard to drink broth when my family is eating pizza and whatnot, but I keep telling myself I've been given this opportunity and I'll only hurt myself if I cheat. If you're able to do blended soups, Pacific Organic makes some that are delicious. I plan on adding protein powder for an extra oomph and keep dreaming of my first day of soft foods! You can totally do this!! Check out theworldaccordingtoegghead for recipe variations!! So much great info!! -
Intense chest pain
Samscoolmama replied to szhanay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love that y'all are addressing this. I am almost 7 days out and the pain in my chest stinks. I went back to the hospital thinking I had a clot or PE and luckily all tests came back negative. I'm still coughing up phlegm and i still get pangs of pain, but walking and the spirometer seem to help. Anyone still using theirs? -
What was the worse thing you had to deal with after your surgery?
Samscoolmama replied to niseys4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hardest thing for me has been the esophageal spasms and the coughing up phlegm almost a week later. And counting the days until I get to take a bite of something solid and flavorful. -
When did you have coffee again?
Samscoolmama replied to BacktoSkinnyMadi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How does the coffee taste mixed with protein powder? I drank a small cup this morning with some Stevia and it was satisfying enough.
