dumping with artificial sweetners
TakingABreak replied to TakingABreak's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have been wanting to try Stur. I finally found it in a local grocery store. So that will be the next on my list to purchase. Thanks for the reply! -
Smoking , Exercise , Anxiety , Mexico
TakingABreak replied to LB92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said minimum 8 weeks smoke free as well. I knew I needed to quit prior anyway. I couldn't imagine going through nicotine withdrawal on top of all the other struggles that come with preop and post op. -
Dense Protein Idea----Salmon or Tuna Packets
TakingABreak replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I found this article. I think tuna a few times a week is O.K. I'll probably stop eating it every day. https://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/eating-tuna-every-day-safe -
Dense Protein Idea----Salmon or Tuna Packets
TakingABreak replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
How much tuna would you have to eat to get mercury poisoning? I eat one of those tuna packets every day. -
Good to know! Thanks.

This is very interesting. I've been wondering that myself. I'm glad you clarified that, because it really does make since. As of pre op, if I go more than 2 days I'm grabbing for that Miralax. So I will hold off longer post op.
-
Miralax for me. I also take soluble fiber as well. However, I've read that some programs don't allow soluble fiber (Benefiber) due to blockages. Check with your doctor first.

Should I tell him?
TakingABreak replied to Sherry Rice's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with Fluffy. I wouldn't tell him until after you see him in person, and if you feel it is right. A lot of people struggle with telling people in general. I just don't want you to feel like you owe him this information. This is your body. Your weight will be a thing of the past soon enough. -
What ya eating tonight?
TakingABreak replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m not post op, but muscle milk has a “light” version with 100 calories. I’ve been wanting to check it out. The regular version doesn’t fit into my program. -
What? Sexting?? Is this really what there is to look forward to?
TakingABreak replied to 336Mike's topic in The Lounge
Oh gosh, sexting *covering my eyes*. I’m the worst at that. Its one thing to talk dirty in the bedroom, but to type it out...wait for a response... We do too much with our phones as is. Not my cup of tea. Dating is so hard these days. I commend you for wanting to do an activity for a first date. Something to keep the awkwardness to a minimum. -
Help! Office Potluck!

I love recipes that provide all the info -
I have been wondering about these Quest Protein Chips. I wanted to order them from Amazon, but wasn't sure if they have that weird after taste that some protein powder does. Have you tried other flavors? Glad you like them! I'm going to order them for sure. Thank you!

Well get used to it, because you are hot! Congrats on your weight loss! -
I agree with you 100% doctors not giving this option For years and years, my doctor never suggested it. Even through fertility issues, the whole 9 yards. It took someone I knew who did it, for me to even consider it as an option. However, on the opposite side, I've heard that people often get negative feedback. It's a tossup! I'm telling close family and friends (at my discretion only). However, if I felt someone could benefit from it, I would tell them.

Help! Office Potluck!
TakingABreak replied to Mstlawrence's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this recipe! I'm not saying this to be argumentative, but just to clarify for my own knowledge. I'm still not an expert on interpreting recipes/labels. But in the recipe, it says that it has 6 servings (24 meatballs). This means that per serving, it is 4 meat balls (6 servings total). So in reality, your calculations would be cut in half. 4 meatballs: What is on the label 2 meatballs: 136.6 cal, 5.65 total fat, 11.55 carb, 0.25 g sugar, 7.75g protein. And if I'm wrong, please let me know. Like I said, I'm still trying to figure this all out myself. https://damndelicious.net/2014/04/30/slow-cooker-buffalo-chicken-meatballs/ -
Please help me understand what I'm suppose to be doing..
TakingABreak replied to WV_Chef's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I thought it was high as well. Like I said, its not even possible if you following guidelines. You don't have room for all that. -

My NUT says that 120 carbs per day is good to go off. But honestly it’s hard to get that many anyway if I’m getting my protein first. -
Overate ate at 7 days!
TakingABreak replied to YummyMummy303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with you 100%. The vast majority of the vets are super helpful. I’d say there are a handful that can be overly critical and discouraging. I’m thankful for those who are aren’t. This is my “support group” per-say. -

She is right about being able to block her. But it's not perfect, not like Facebook. I'll send you the instructions in a PM when I get home and can look at it on the app. -

I agree with you. I feel like people are like... well, she does have some good advice, sometimes... How about all the other times? Or, she didn't do anything wrong in this thread... OK, how about the other threads she is rude, degrading, belittling... you name it! I got disgusted with it, and called her out in two different threads. She accused me of being obsessed with her. Saying that I must love her. Clearly, that is not the case (but I did get a good laugh out of it). I just don't stand by and watch other people being bullied and mistreated. Needless to say, the thread did get way out of control. I'm glad you stuck up for yourself! -

I'm very glad that someone is recognizing it. I realize that some veteran's like her, but I think she just likes to banter and likes belittle people. This forum should be a SAFE place for people who haven't (and of course, who have) had the surgery to get support and advice. Thanks for sharing @YummyMummy303 -
Electronic weight loss program recommendations?
TakingABreak replied to CaliforniaCandy's topic in The Lounge
I also love Bariastic App. If you have trouble with chewing, there is a timer for 20 seconds. It covers it all! -

You can block dreamingsmall , I did for the same reasons. Basically it just hides her responses. PM me if you need help! -
My doctor makes you pay a "program fee" which is $170 and this includes 2 weeks of protein (Bariatric Advantage) and a shaker bottle. They also have a "discount program" through their office. Although, I don't quite understand the discount because the usual amount for bariatric advantage is $70 per 3 lb tub. I paid $30 over that amount. *throws my hands up in the air* Who knows. Honestly, I'll use the Bariatric Advantage for the pre op stage, but I'll be going with whatever works for me after (within program perimeters, of course). They also gave me a list of vitamins that can be used. The one thing I will say, is that the Bariatric Fusion is one that you don't need to supplement a lot with. I'm going to take some extra Vitamin D, because even without WLS I'm always low. However, my doctor said that 4 per day (which is the recommended serving on the bottle) is all that you need to take per day. I think the vitamins come out to be about $25 a month. I understand the cost of protein, because it is INSANE. But, just remind your friend that you won't be on protein supplements forever, and if you do need some, it should be minimal.

I suggest creating some milestone rewards and concentrating on those. For example, a pedicure or new book, whatever you can get excited about! Good luck
