What state do you live in? I'm not sure if laws vary from state to state but, in IL... we have what's called FMLA. My HR person has told me that I don't even have to disclose the reason for my leave with my supervisor. She has stated that the only people that need to be informed is my doctor and HR. Our HR coordinator takes care of everything else, as in, informing my supervisor when I can return to work, ect. The reason I know so much, I had a bad experience with my direct manager and the same thing that happened to you. In fact, he would openly discuss my health issues with other colleagues and customers. I had to report him. At our company, this could be a terminable offense. I would call your HR immediately and explain the circumstances. Good luck, remember, you don't have to go through this!

I bought some very yummy Protein2O water and it was very good. A big difference from the thick shakes. Has anyone had any experiences with protein water, and if so, what kind did you use? There is one that I found on Amazon called Trimino. I don't want to order it in bulk without knowing if it is good or not.

I like the berry! You have to watch because some of them have different amounts of protein, calories, carbs, etc.

Why do protein drinks taste awful?
TakingABreak replied to Véronique's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Try protein water. It’s very light and not overly sweet. You can buy on Amazon. -
This is why I’m not telling but a select group of people. But while I agree that it is probably a heck of a lot easier to do than regular dieting and exercise, I also think that the journey to get there is a rough one. I’ve had to change so much. Although I also had really bad bad habits. Each person is different. Good luck and everyone will forget how you got there once they can’t imagine you the way you were.

I’m not a sleever but I am getting RNY in Chicago area, Hoffman Estates. I’m using Dr Rantis at the Kane Center. I’m from Peoria though, just using St Alexis because they are a Center Of Excellence.

Leaving this afternoon to travel 3 hours in a blizzard to get my pre surgical testing done tomorrow morning! Besides meeting with my PCP on the 10th, this is my last requirement. And my last trip (pre op) I will have to make besides for surgery. I'm getting very nervous. I'm going to celebrate New Years and start my new journey. Preop diet will begin on the 4th. I do have a bit of a cold. I hope this won't affect any testing results. I'm at the tail end, but still nervous about this.

Thank you for all of your follow up comments! I've been wanting to try these. I may still, but will be prepared that some sort of salsa or dip is required. My weakness has always been chips, salt, ect. I was hoping post-op that these would satisfy some of my cravings and also be a great way to get some protein in. Like Fluffy said, crispy chippy!

4 days post op, sugar crashing
TakingABreak replied to ConnieJJ55's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My dietician said 120 carbs per day, but I've heard some mixed reactions about this when I've shared. Many people have said that this is too high. I haven't had surgery, but I'd imagine it is too difficult to fit that many in after surgery if you are eating your protein first. I get low blood sugar as well. My dietician suggested to get glucose tablets. Carry them around with you. They can help you in a pinch. But chew them well. -
My surgery is the 19th, but I go for my pre-surgical testing this coming Saturday. I'm fighting a small cold this week. I hope and pray that it doesn't interfere with my results.

Something has been bothering me since I got my clearance from the pulmonologist. I have severe sleep apnea, for those of you familiar, my number is 123. That means I stop breathing 123 times per hour. The pulmonologist said that people with severe sleep apnea have problems coming off the ventilator after surgery. I'm terrified to wake up and still be attached. Has anyone heard of this? I read an article of a woman who was attached for 3 days after surgery due to sleep apnea. I know they have to give you all the risks, but that one I could have lived without knowing!

Sleep Apnea and Anesthesia
TakingABreak replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love my CPAP, I literally can't sleep without it right now. Although, I know my sleep apnea will improve after I loose weight. My pulmonologist thinks I may still have sleep apnea when I'm thinner because of my short neck and jaw. So, if I have to get rid of it, that will be a whole different obstacle to overcome. thanks for the input and congrats on your success! -
Waking up with INCREDIBLY dry mouth after surgery
TakingABreak replied to Mhy12784's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, they have a spray. The spray, you technically swallow remnants. I wonder if that would bother your pouch (in be beginning) From what I've heard, you will really want something for the hospital stay. -

Would you recommend the spray or the mouth rinse for the hospital stay? -
Sleep Apnea and Anesthesia
TakingABreak replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you for easing my mind! I know it is a slightly irrational fear, considering that a vast majority of WLS patients have sleep apnea. I will def talk to my doctor and anesthesiologist about it before hand! -
this is one I haven't heard before, but I will be sure to remember!

I've been thinking of the same thing. Just trying to get prepared. To add onto your list: 1. blender or food processor 2. broth for sure! I recommend a broth that you can find from Walmart. It has an increased amount of protein. It is also organic and gluten free. I've attached pics. They have chicken, vegan, and beef. Warning: the vegan has a lot more calories

Sleep Apnea and Anesthesia
TakingABreak replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you for your response. I agree with you about the weighing the risks of being overweight vs. surgery with sleep apnea. I'm having gastric bypass, so hopefully I won't have to battle the reflux. -
