TakingABreak replied to 1234567890's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! You look amazing! -
Here's the recipe I made over the weekend. It was delicious. Dressing: 2 tbsp lemon juice 2 tbsp red wine vinegar 1/4 cup olive oil 1/2 tsp oregano 1/4 tsp Greek seasoning I just did a few shakes of black pepper. I made two batches for the bowl pictured There was: -cherry tomatoes -kalamata olives -chic peas -cucumber -edamame -red onion -feta cheese There is 39 grams of protein in a cup of chic peas; 17 grams in a cup of edamame.

You can order about 100 of them on Amazon for less than $5 if you can’t get them from the pharmacy. The hospital gave me three huge stacks of them. I used them for my crushed medication as well.

I hope this is the case for me! I have a lot to loose. I’d need to surpass the estimated 70% excess weight for a RNY. But I’m 5’4. Ideally I’d love to be a size 6. I think that would be appropriate for my height.

Oh that sucks! I didn’t realize they didn’t have regular sizes I only go to their “plus section”. Too bad for them because they won’t get my business when I get smaller!

When Did YOUR Energy Come Back?
TakingABreak replied to logicwand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was back to 100% at six weeks I'd say. I started exercising at 5 weeks though. I also increased my calories from 300-400 a day to 500-600, which I think helped. I didn't do this intentionally but actual food has more calories than liquids. I was consuming more by this stage in the food progression. -
Its perfectly normal for your body to go through "withdrawals" and I put quotations around it because sometimes it probably feels like you are an alcoholic who had his last drink, and other times just an annoying itch to having something bad. Things improve post surgery. Your cravings will lessen, along with your appetite. I gave things up in a very methodical way. I gave up sugar and most carbs first, soda second, and then all caffeine last. Most things post op are too sweet now, so I don't crave sweetness at all. Everyone's different. This surgery is HARD. Every aspect is hard. Giving these things up now will mentally prepare yourself for after surgery.

BOY OH BOY! I have the solution for you! And I've ordered these myself, so I know how comfortable they are and how they dry very easy! I struggled finding "shorts" that had flexibility and weren't heavy in and out of the water. However, I wear these now. https://www.swimsuitsforall.com/Chlorine-Resistant-Lilypad-Long-Bike-Short#rrec=true They have regular length bike shorts or long bike shorts. Both are chlorine resistant and the same material that swim suits should be. They are PERFECT for water activities!

I went through a very similar situation. I stalled 1 week post op, for almost 2 weeks. I had lost 27lbs in the Pre Op diet and then another 11lbs in the first week. It wasn't until I started eating soft foods and increased my calories that I started to loose again. I also started exercise at about 5 weeks post op.

My first couple bowl movements were the same. But it changed after that. Have you had your 1 week follow up yet? I'd suggest mentioning it if you haven't. My GI doctor told me Miralax is the only OTC medication that your body doesn't "get used to" over time. I take soluble fiber and Miralax everyday. Obviously, you don't want to take Fiber until you are regular, but I swear by it.

What have you done for yourself lately?

I celebrated with my girlfriends and got pedicures for 50lbs down. I think I'll do something big at 100lbs, but I haven't decided what. -
Fell off the exercise wagon!

They are 9 months -
There is 7 grams of sugar in one popsicle. This could be enough to cause the notorious dumping syndrome, especially, if you are newly post op. If you can't do the SF, I'd advise just don't do any at all.

“You don’t need that just go to the gym”
TakingABreak replied to AiyanaC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I personally don't think there is anything easy about this process. You have to change ALL aspects of your life for this to work. I have had to change my emotional relationship with food for ever. I can no longer put things in my mouth without serious, serious consideration. I have developed a sense of distrust with food, because unless I've made it, I don't know what is REALLY in it. I have suffered with changed relationships, mostly for the worst. I have pushed myself physically in ways that I couldn't ever imagine. Now, for someone to say that this is the easy way out, I'll tell them to go to hell. BUT! Let me say this, I haven't regretted this decision at all. -
Fiber is only a good option to keep you regular, not to get regular.

I say water, I wasn’t being 100% literal. Fluids in general. All the options you mentions are great.
-
Yes! I will recite it from now on! Bahahahaha!

I believe this is a lifetime requirement. WLS or not, the recommended amount of water per day is 8-8 ounce glasses per day. It’s even more important for people who have had recent surgery. Liquids are important for healing, nutrition absorption, and for weight loss.

I had the same problem in the weeks after surgery. It felt like pelvic pain. I took Milk of Magnesium and it took 2 days but I finally went. I would advise to not put it off. Because it’s not going anywhere. And the sick feeling you are having is your body saying you probably don’t have much room. Drink lots of fluids. I take soluble fiber with my water everyday to keep regular.

Post your Friday face!

Hosting my family on Sunday for a pre-Easter get together. I'm making steak, per request. This will be the first time I've seen my brother since my surgery 9 weeks ago, and the first time I've eaten in front of most of my family. At least I am hosting, so I can run around cleaning and cooking and not look unsettled. This is also my first time cooking for a large group since surgery. I went to go buy steaks and I stood there in amazement at the size of them (Ribeyes & New York Strip specifically) . I used to eat one of those, a whole one! I'm looking forward to having normal traditions and getting over the fear that I don't fit into holidays when food is involved.
