    Beware Corn on the Cob

I had a lot of problems with lettuce until just this last week when I tried it again. I'm glad I listened to a lot of Vets on here say, if it doesn't work now... try...try again!
  2. Me too, unless I have to return online! The good thing is if it's too small.... I know it will fit eventually!
  3. I was a tad of a chicken sh** and didn't go into a store to try on. I ordered everything online and guessed at sizing. If the weather EVER warms up here in good ole' central IL I'll get to enjoy my purchases.
  4. I purchased dresses for work. I also dress professionally for work. I think dresses will get me by longer than pants. I bought some that I could dress up and down for weekend wear.

    Not losing on pre-op

what does your pre op diet consist of?
  7. I'm not Veteran enough to address this because I don't have words. . However, I will say that I hope you do change your habits and soon. This surgery is a GIFT and I hope you don't squander it.

1 Week Post Op - Rash

I got a rash in the exact same spot, but mine ended up being Shingles. Also, mine went from being very itchy to very painful and blistered within 12 hours. They said I got it from the stress I went through from surgery.

    Time Off Work?

I had an RNY and I took off 6 weeks. I had some initial complications and was in the hospital for 5 days. I also got shingles while recovering which delayed the process. I could have gone back to work after 3 weeks, but I'm glad I took the whole 6 off. My energy levels were back to normal at the 6 week mark, and I was on a normal diet. My biggest point is you just don't know what could happen, complications arise. I'd plan on being off for 3 weeks minimum.

    Changing Tastes

I agree, I get no enjoyment over smells or tastes anymore. I think this is supposed to be one of the benefits. I personally think it keeps my appetite in line. I’m guessing that our taste buds will come back after time. It’s so new to us! You aren’t a lone. I just make good choices and celebrate the victory of my weight loss. Food is no longer my friend.

    Changing Tastes

My taste buds have changed a lot too. I find that I can't ever tell you what I'm hungry for. I have a hard time picking a place to eat or a recipe to cook. It's a good and a bad thing!

Recipes with coconut flour anyone? :)

I personally like using Almond Flour more. Downside is it has more fat. Upside more protein. You can use less egg, whereas coconut flour you need more because it is more absorptive. For all the foodies out there, here's a good article about the pros and cons of both: https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/ultimate-guide-coconut-flour-vs-almond-flour/ My absolute favorite recipe to use Almond Flour is by Kayln's Kitchen: https://kalynskitchen.com/baked-chicken-strips-recipe-with/ These nuggets are delicious! I make them once a week!
  17. I do! I follow this recipe for seasoning and for cooking instructions. I used to be a big chip person, so this really satisfies my need for crunch. They are so yummy! I will say that I spray mine with olive oil spray before I season them & then I put them in the oven. I shake the pan every 10 minutes. The instructions in this link are a bit different. https://www.thisgrandmaisfun.com/roasted-chickpeas-recipe/
  18. Here's my list: - Being able to take care of my own toenails! Paint, clip, file ect. - Shopping at any store. - Having a baby! I have to wait until 12 months post op, per insurance requirements. I've got roughly 9 months to wait before we start trying. - Easier time doing anything that requires bending over- shaving, cleaning, yard work, ect. - Being able to wear my wedding rings again (I have succeeded in this already) - Getting off most of my medications! (Success! I am not on one that I take regularly, just as needed!) - Feeling confident to take a picture on the fly! - Not worrying whether or not I'll fit in a restaurant booth. - Traveling and going on adventures with my husband. -Not getting the dreaded "I'm really worried about you" talk from family or friends.
  19. I average anywhere from 600-1000 calories per day. I always hit a minimum of 90 grams of protein. I don't really have a number for carbs or fat, but my carbs mostly come from fruits and vegetables. Occasionally I will eat a half of a whole wheat bagel or some protein pasta. I always start my day with a protein smoothie from a local chain smoothie place. It has minimum of 45 grams per 20 oz serving. I usually add a fiber boost that gives me an extra 8 grams of fiber. My staple snacks are: 1. 1 cup of FairLife ultra filtered skim milk with sugar free chocolate syrup. (13 grams of protein per cup) 2. 1 Cup of roasted garlic chick peas (12 grams of protein per cup) 3. Deli Style Tuna Packet by Star Kist (14 grams of protein)
  20. I’m almost 3 months post op and I have been cleared to swallow pills since my 6 week follow up. Recently I purchased a new Bariatric vitamin after seeing a recommendation from Alex on here. I bought mine on Amazon for free shipping. Just have to say, I’m loving the 1 pill a day. I love not chewing the chalky vitamins. And the cost couldn’t be better. Also, I take a calcium & vitamin d combo twice a day with breakfast and lunch.

How would I know if I've streched my pouch

Your welcome! And I hope your NUT can help as well. You’ve made this wonderful change, and everyone needs a reminder now and again. The important thing is you are holding yourself accountable by posting on here. You’ve got this!
  23. I like the them so far! I hate chewing my old ones and having to remember to take them 2 or 4x per day
  24. No nausea, but I take them at night. It’s recommended to take medications or vitamins before bed if you get nausea with them (if possible, or course). So with these being 1X per day, I take it right before bed. I’m getting my vitamin levels checked today. I’ll let you know when I get my results back on the 24th. I haven’t been on them for very long though, so I can’t say if the results are from these vitamins or the ones I took before.
  25. I regretfully report I haven't been to the gym in 7 days now. I regretfully report I haven't weighed myself in the same amount of time. I'd say that I am going back tonight, or tomorrow, but I'd be lying. I had another bout of shingles (the most severe complication of surgery) this week. As a result, I have a 1,000 errands to run tonight and I'm watching my twin nieces all day, all night tomorrow. But someone, for heavens sake, please keep tabs on me and ask if I went Sunday! I feel horrible that I've fallen off the wagon.
