Diet plan help! 8 weeks pregnant
TakingABreak replied to mxpxchik11's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I'm sorry you are having difficulty. Has your OB had many post op WLS patients? Not to question the credentials of your doctor, but it may be the reason why he or she hasn't offered better advice. It's extremely important that your vitamin levels are checked regularly during pregnancy. -
Here you guys what I look like so far

Oh you know, the usual... slave to the scale LOL. I think I've hit the dreaded 3 month stall. I'll find out tonight, but I weighed in 3 days in a row with no movement at all, which is unusual for me. I think I'm going to post a full body on Friday, if its nice enough to wear this dress I bought. -

It is 100% safe to loose weight while pregnant. In fact, a lot of overweight women naturally loose weight during the first 2 trimesters. Weight loss will taper off as the baby starts growing larger. But if you have an experienced OB, it shouldn't be an issue to track the babies progress. Not that it needs to be said, this is only the case in overweight pregnant mothers. They wouldn't want women at a healthy BMI to be losing. -
Diet plan help! 8 weeks pregnant

I don't feel rushed at all! I've been looking forward to the day that I can start trying for the last 5 years. I can't wait. I'll loose what I can in 12 months, and then continue loosing during pregnancy under my OB's advisement. It is safe to loose during pregnancy. I've got it all planned out with my surgeon and my OB. -

Always count on you to give me the right words! Thanks -
Like I said, Beast mode! Keep up the positive attitude and hard work!

I drink it over an hour and a half. I am the same way about it if it were to get melted and it never does. There is just something about a smoothie from there versus one I can make at home. It stays nice and cold, and thick. No water rising to the top, no nasty protein taste.

So exciting! Congrats! I can't wait until I'm at your stage and can start trying. -
I have a smoothie from Smoothie King every morning! They have 3 different protein smoothies that are OK to have. They are the Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry Gladiators. They have 45 grams of protein, with less than 5 carbs. I will add low carb/calorie fruits and veggies to mine as well.

Thanks Frust! I needed to hear those things! -
Sounds like a good plan!

@TootsR Matty is right. I wouldn't over do it at this point. If you want to walk around the block a few times or even walk slowly on the treadmill. I wouldn't do anything too extreme until your stomach is healed and you get the OK from the doctor.

I didn't get a lot of my energy levels back until I started eating soft foods. Even further than that, when I was able to get my protein in from food was when I felt 100%. I started working out at the gym at 4 weeks post op. I went 3 days a week and took it slow. Now I work out minimum of 5 days and I've gradually increased my intensity. I still have a protein snack before I work out every time.

I got clearance to do walking after my week follow up. I got clearance to actually do cardio and weight lifting at my 6 week follow up

Thank you! And the Spanx are for me . I think its just the added boost of confidence that I like about them. -
7 days a week is BEAST!
-
I agree! I don't want to dread going to the gym. I've made it a 5 day a week staple in my routine. I don't want any excuses not to go.
-
That's great!!! I hope I get there soon. I know if this really is a stall, I'll be stepping up my game!
-
Me too! I keep thinking I'm going to increase my time... nope. Hasn't happened yet. I do 15 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes of lifting. This is my beast mode.
-
It was hard work! The pre op diet was single handedly the hardest part. && I got shingles in the hospital after surgery. But I really stuck to my guns about putting my body into ketosis and it worked. You are doing great Matty! I'm afraid I've hit a stall. I've weighed in the last three days, no loss. I'll probably have a better idea tonight when I weigh. I'm hoping not because I set a goal of 80lbs at my 3 month post op. I'm soooooo close!

@Taoz I asked the same thing, what kind of diet. The reason being is that a lot of what is allowed to mix with the protein powder is chalked full of carbs. I know I could do fruit, oats, milk, peanut butter, ect. I decided on my own to only mix with water. I also choose a Bariatric protein powder with less than 5 grams of carbs per serving. I didn't have a particularly large liver, but I'm glad I took my pre op diet seriously, I lost a lot of weight prior to surgery.

I think the other folks have a point about the fruit. My plan said I could add all kinds of fruits, peanut butter, oats, ect. I opted to only mix my protein with water, not even milk. I didn't want the carbs associated with the milk or anything else. I lost 27lbs in my pre op diet.
