  3. It is a thing. My surgeon said it has to do with the "texture" of water not agreeing with your pouch. I can't drink plain water AT ALL and I'm almost 3 months post op. My surgeon recommended adding lemon, cucumber, or do fruit infused. Obviously other options are calorie free mixes like crystal light, caffeine free herbal tea, or calorie free sports drinks like PowerAde Zero.

I do too! And I don't feel guilty about it. I will eat whole grain bagels, bread, and pasta! Now I don't daily or anything, but I will partake in some protein pasta every other week. I love me some spaghetti! I also eat fruit every day. I don't think I could go without. I love fruit

I average 200-250 per meal. And i'll have a snack around 100 calories before I work out. More or less around 800 calories a day.

Here is a good breakfast recipe! https://kalynskitchen.com/cottage-cheese-and-egg-breakfast/ These are great to make once a week and warm up on the go! You can add some unflavored protein powder to give it an extra punch.

Add some mayo to that tuna! LOL *cry face* Your diet makes me sad! I cook a lot and take leftovers most of the time for lunch. I use Kayln's Kitchen for a lot of my cooking inspiration. She has her website broken down by diet type. I try and do Keto mostly. Instead of jello, I would add something with protein. You could do cottage cheese, a low fat cheese stick, Greek yogurt, or even a non starch veggie. I personally eat a lot of edamome, brussle sprouts, and chick peas.

    Spouse of a WLS patient

During my pre op diet, I required (asked very nicely!) that my hubby eat his meals outside of the house. I told him that I didn't care if it was the driveway, as long as, it wasn't where I could see it or smell it. Once I had surgery, things changed a lot. My taste buds changed right away. I remember wandering aimlessly around the grocery store at 2 weeks post op and had no idea what to buy. Nothing smelled, sounded, or looked good. My best suggestion is to have an open and honest line of communication. If you decided to make a deli sandwich for dinner, then ask your husband, is this something that will bother you? Should I take it elsewhere? He won't know until the time comes how he is going to feel. I will say that pre op is misery. I would do whatever it takes to avoid eating in front of him.

I was over 3 hours away from my surgeon and he required me to stay locally until my post op appointment which was 10 days after surgery. This is common practice if you don't live nearby.

    Please don't be disappointed

I went before work this morning to try and find some clothes that fit better for my mom's visit. I figured that I could show off my newly slimmer figure! I found a couple options. Thanks again all of you!
  12. My insurance required me to go to a "Blue Distinction Center" for Bariatric surgery. I had to go about 3.5 hours away. It was a hassle. You don't realize how many appointments there will be. My insurance didn't require much, but I had to go up for a initial consultation, nutrition class, a bariatric class, a pulmonary clearance (and it had to be from the doctor's that would be monitoring me after surgery), pre-surgical appointment, pre op testing, and then all of the after surgery appointments. 1 week, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year. If you do the math, that is a lot of visits to a doctor that isn't nearby. I know that 50 miles, isn't 3.5 hours but... just keep in mind that you will have to go many times. There is already enough stress around surgery, and traveling doesn't lighten the load.

that's awesome that you can order extra fabric! I didn't even know that was a thing!

Post RNY - Dress size question

I wish I could offer some better advice, but it's really hard to say. I'd say to go larger and have it altered if needed. I'm down 75lbs and I've barely moved 2 pants sizes. My belly is holding on for dear life! While my breasts, arms, and legs are reaping the rewards of surgery. Where do you carry your weight, because like me most people loose in their extremities first. So if you have a larger stomach or butt it may take awhile for those areas to show huge improvement. Thank God for Spanx!

    Fingers crossed for luck

I got shingles for the first time after my surgery while I was still in the hospital. Chances are the stress will cause it anyway.

I would suggest the same thing as @Sammy 10-30. My surgeon discouraged eating every 2-3 hours. To have 3 meals, and 1 snack at most if needed (I do this before my daily workout). I would focus on maximizing your protein consumption for those three meals. I wasn't loosing as much and it was suggested to me that I didn't need to eat as often. I start my day off with a protein smoothie with 45 grams of protein and go from there. I still meet or exceed my protein goals daily.

Busting it out at the Gym!

I agree! I have to be practically running in order to get my heart rate over 125. Which for me, running is still near impossible. It is a good thing, before I would get scared my heart rate was too high while working out.

  22. Incredible! You look amazing!
  23. I think I'll start by adding 5 minutes on the elliptical and some added weights to my lifting routine. I won't go so hard that I hate it. I'm glad you've got my back!
  24. I'm going to increase gradually! But I've got to step it up if I'm going to be "like wow" in a few months! lol
  25. I am going to have to step it up at the gym for sure! And thank you! I feel good about my progress and I can't wait for this year to unfold. Its going to be amazing!
