I'm not sure to be honest! So I did a quick google search. It looks like the absorption depends on whether you take it with a meal. Which my program did specifiy. I always take my calcium with breakfast and lunch and never within two hours of an iron supplement. I just had my levels checked last week and I'm good to go on the Vitamin D and calcium. https://labdoor.com/article/calcium-carbonate-vs-calcium-citrate-which-is-better-for-human-health

World's Fastest Psychiatric Evaluation
TakingABreak replied to elforman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad it went well! I did hear of someone who had theirs that consisted of this: " Hi, I'm doctor _______. My office is at the end of the hall on the left, I'll meet you there".- Doctor *Patient patiently waits in office* *Doctor walks in with piece of paper* "Here is your surgical release, you are all set!"- Doctor *Patient, blink blink* "That's it?!"- Patient "You can obviously follow directions, so you are approved"- Doctor -
After surgery I took the Caltrate chewables and I think they are decent, taste wise. The price is pretty good as well. I took 2 chewables daily. The bottle was $14.22 and 155 tablets, approx. 2.5 months. Recently though, I ordered the Caltrate minis, sense now I can swallow pills. They have 155 tablets as well, a 3 pack (465 tablets) on Amazon was $34.32. I will still take two per day. The Vitamin D and Calcium are increased in the minis as well.

High Triglycerides- Advice Needed!
TakingABreak replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I do know that I always take CoQ10 whenever I'm on a statin because it helps with my energy levels. I haven't taken niacin, but I will talk to my doctor about it. Thank you! -

I do this a lot now as well! I wait my 30 minutes and I have a nice drink waiting for me One other thing I've found is I do take out more often now. I order Chili's take out, Olive Garden... ect. I don't have to pay for the drink and I can order off the kid's menu with no question. Best part- NO TIP! -
Intimacy / mental health / pre-op thoughts
TakingABreak replied to jessicasz's topic in The Gals' Room
Thanks for the read! This article does state " However, if the person was overweight or obese when the relationship or marriage began, the chances of that relationship or marriage ending within two years after the surgery is 80 to 85 percent." Also, It does seem to focus on a relationship where both couples " have shared the problems of overeating and obesity" Just wanted to clarify for folks who skim through this. -

Holy crap. I didn't know the number was that high. Wow! -
I am 5'4 and I started at 332. I am currently 256lbs. I would love to be down to 140-150, but ultimately somewhere in the 1's would be great! My greats NSV so far has been having more energy and not having to blink an eyelash when I go to pick out an outfit in my closet. It all fits, most of it too big now!

I like the ones that I ordered through this website. The variety pack was nice to try them all! https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-bars Or there is a good one at Vitamin Shoppe (online too) that is plant based protein https://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/fit-plant-based-high-protein-weight-loss-bar-smores-12-bars/gu-1351

So I forgot to look at the whole label

My NUT told me to keep the carbs under 20 grams, but to do yogurt with ZERO added sugar. There may be sugar from the fruit, but I always keep an eye out and keep my sugar intake under 7 grams per serving for whatever I am eating. -
Bulk shopping.
TakingABreak replied to newmebithebypass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with @Creekimp13. My taste buds changed a lot too and I wasted so much stuff. I bought 5 boxes of SF popsicles and I still have 5 boxes. They were way too sweet for me afterwards. -
I keep a Tuna Packet in my purse at all times in case I can't find anything to eat on the go. Other things you can keep are unsweetened apple sauce, almonds, turkey snack sticks, roasted chick peas, premade (unopened) protein shakes, and protein bars (but watch the sugar!). Obviously these are just items you don't have to worry about refrigerating. If you keep a lunch box or cooler, the options are limitless. It doesn't seem easy now, but it becomes second nature. I've found that there are little places I go that I can't find something on the menu to modify to meet my dietary needs.

Saw my mom last night and no tears but she did keep calling me “tiny”. She said I look happier. It was very reassuring to see her! Thank you for all the support! -

Yeah mine is embarrassing to say the least! I’m constantly leaving the office. I go outside vs the bathroom. It’s terrible!

Holy crap, 7 weeks! Man I would be a wreck. And the sad thing is I've just hit my 3 month stall. I hope I don't have to wait that long. What did you do to break the stall?

Has anyone's sleep apnea worsened since surgery?
TakingABreak replied to Mattymatt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Morning Matty. I don't know if this is the case, but sleep apnea happens a lot in older folks due to their muscle tone weakening. I wonder if as you loose weight you may have some tone issues in your neck that results in increased apneas. I'm taking a stab in the dark of course. One thing I will say, I wouldn't worry about it until you've seen those results for a least a week or more. All kinds of factors could be in play, you could have opened your mouth in your sleep to have caused the machine to think you had an apnea. -

You look fantastic! Congrats!!!!!! -
Any type of plain flavored solvable fiber will work. I don’t suggest starting on a fiber regimen until you’ve “cleared out”. You could get a bowel blockage. Take Milk of Magnesium to get things moving. Also, you have to really keep up on your fluids to incorporate fiber, just make sure you are doing it in the right way.
