    I think I'm mental...

I have the same moments. All the sudden panic sets in and I think to myself, "DID I REALLY WEAR THAT YESTERDAY?" "I MUST HAVE LOOKED LIKE A COW IN THAT DRESS". The newest thing, is that I find it hard to wear clothes that actually fit. Especially shirts, because if it sits on my sides like a shirt that fits would... I get anxiety. I'm so used to baggy clothes now that shirts that fit make me feel bigger. I just have to continuously remind myself that one day these problems will be a thing of the past. I'm only half way through my journey to goal. And a life time away from maintaining.
  4. My only regret is that I didn’t do this years ago! Worth every complication or negative side affect.

    I Feel Pretty

I saw it a couple weeks ago and I also loved it. The message was really good! It showed that if we all had that kind of confidence we would all live our happiest lives! I def recommend it.

    Soda!

I agree with the person who said it’s like a “gateway drug”. I still crave a diet Dr Pepper, but I’m glad I’ve kicked the habit. I’ve also been caffeine free for the last 5 months. And it’s been the best thing for me. Try and find good substitutes now. I struggled after surgery to find things to drink. I thought I’d just do Water, but plain water makes me nauseous. So I experimented and found I love caffeine free herbal teas.
  8. I love roasted chick peas! I do them also, great source of fiber.

    New here

It’s becoming something serious for me. I don’t like the feeling of a shirt hugging my mid section. I hope I overcome this soon!

    New here

Congrats on your decision! You won't regret it, in fact, you will wish you would have done it years ago. I don't have children, which I hope my weight loss will positively affect my fertility after the 12 month waiting period, but I do have 11 month old twin nieces who I see a lot. It's amazing how much I am able to play with them now. I enjoy watching them more now because I'm able to get up and down easier. I also have a lot more stamina. So, I know this will make a difference with your own little one! Everyone's experience is so different, and it seems like everyone's program is very different as well. My pieces of advice: 1. Build yourself a good support system. Kick anyone to the curb who isn't. At the same time, you and you alone are doing this surgery. You are responsible for the outcome. It takes extreme perseverance to succeed. This is just a tool. Surgery doesn't retrain your brain or unlearn bad habits. 2. Put everything you have into doing it the right way. I make time for ME now. I make time to shop healthy, meal prep, cook healthy, to exercise, and to reward myself for my victories. After you get so far out, you will almost forget you had surgery. I don't think about it daily and I don't have to think.... "You can't have that--- you had WLS". It just comes natural to me now. I just remember that I don't eat those things. But we have to remind ourselves that we are important and this journey takes dedicated time! 3. There can be a real emotional side to this journey that they don't prepare you for. They make sure you are psychologically fit to do the surgery, but I've seen rarely where post op therapy is required. I can't tell you how much things change for the good and bad. This morning, I put on a shirt that hasn't fit in 3 years. It fit.... but I've been wearing baggy clothes for 2 months. Wearing a shirt that fit made me feel bad about myself. It made me feel large. I was so used to seeing myself in clothes that in "my mind" represented my weight loss, because they were big. Its the little things like that. Its emotional. So, prepare yourself for the little nuances that may make you sad. Good luck dear! I know you be so glad you did this. Xo- AshAsh

    Will I always feel nauseous?

I think the best thing is to try new foods at home. I wouldn't take an egg for lunch if you haven't had eggs yet. I had some nausea in the first 2 months. I'm 14 weeks post op and I occasionally get nausea. Nothing that is unbearable. I still carry around the prescription dissolvable just in case, but I haven't had one in over a month. Honestly, my nausea is usually brought on from eating something I shouldn't of, usually too many carbs OR if I had one bite too many. I don't think you have much to worry about. You will adjust quickly.

    Feeling fab today

Its funny you mention this because I was at a gas station recently and there was a security camera with a monitor. I looked up and saw myself. It was a unique way to see my progress. I would have cringed before, but now I kept looking at myself.

How did you decide on your goal weight?!

I had no idea where to even start. But my doctor asked me what I weighed in high school when I was an athlete. I was right around 175 when I played Rugby. So we set a goal of 180, but I'd really like to see myself get to the healthiest place. I'm short at 5'4, but I have a stockier build. I think that I'd be pretty happy between 150-175.
  16. OMG some of those are hysterical! Especially the person who grabbed your leg! Like WHO DOES THAT? I can't believe the things people say.... SMH.

    KETO

I do a mostly Keto diet by happenstance. I like it. I don't buy low fat items, but I stick with lean meats. I really follow the protein first, then veggies. I do have the occasional whole grain and some fruit as a treat. But a lot of the recipes I make are Keto based. It just seems like an easy thing to follow since it falls within the guidelines for eating after surgery.

    Time off work

My surgeons office recommended minimum of 4 weeks, but I took 6 weeks. I'm glad I did. My energy levels didn't return until then. You do need to be careful if you work a desk job to make sure and get up and move every hour. You are at a higher risk of blood clots if you have a stationary job.

    No regrets guys!

OMG! you look fabulous! I hope I can aspire to lose as much as you did!
  20. I have this problem too with certain people. Its rough because you don't always lose a significant amount every week. My mom asks me ALL THE TIME, "what is your number?".... It can be rewarding and defeating, it just depends on what that number is. Finally, I just told her... it makes me feel bad when I don't have something big to report to you. She explained it is her way of showing support and staying engaged with my journey. But I think your weight loss can be such a sensitive issue, and I wouldn't feel bad telling people that you aren't comfortable sharing specifics. Hang in there!

    Can I have bulletproof coffee

Here's the thing. From your stats, you aren't even a month post op. Which for my program, caffeine isn't even allowed. But if you came on this site to be coddled, you might as well start a FB group where screen the people who can join. This site is full of vets who have done the hard work to loose the weight, and along the way they have learned a trick or two. If @FluffyChix didn't care about the members of this site, she wouldn't even say anything. Now, do I disagree with her meme about stupidity... yeah... ok... Fluff, too far. But all of her comments about how this coffee is a BAD decision is spot on. I hope you stay and learn and grow.... and someday are the vet who can give someone like you healthy advice.
  22. And actually if you have problem swallowing without liquid, you should probably take smaller bites and eat slower.
