I felt that too until about the 2 month mark. Maybe you are just taking a little longer to adjust. -

Curious question?
TakingABreak replied to JustinH's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm curious as to why you would have done the DS? I originally wanted that as well but, my surgeon said he would have done it in a 2 step process. 1st the sleeve, and then within a year, DS. I just couldn't imagine going through the whole process twice so I chose RNY as well. Always wondered if I would regret my decision. -
Great job! Looking good!

Suggestions for a weekend of being around a lot of food!
TakingABreak replied to Nanajoy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It never hurts to eat before you go and say that you aren't hungry and you've got an upset stomach. As far as those sugary things, If it would help to plug everything you *want* to eat into a food tracking app, so you can see all the calories, carbs, and fat that it adds up to. So when you say no, you can let out a *sigh* of relief that you didn't eat those things. -
I agree whole heartedly! Most doctors don't realize how grave the consequences are of their actions. It can impact peoples lives so much. And a lot of doctor's offices are just skating by without any sense of organization or good office policy in place. With a bariatric doctor, there is always a program. You'd think they'd be a well oiled machine. Hang in there love, this too shall pass.

It makes sense, because my insurance company will pay for a Pani but only 24 months post op.

What stage are you? The reason I asked was because I found the grocery store a miserable place because nothing seemed appealing for the longest time. I didn't have any cravings and food was a menace to me. But it eventually changed and now I make lists and I only shop on the outside isles of the store. Most of the junk is in the middle. I stay away from processed foods and it helps a lot. You have to do whatever it takes to avoid making mistakes.

Happy TGIF! Come Celebrate Yourself (and Friday-mostly Friday)!
TakingABreak replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Morning from Central IL, Today I'm celebrating capability that has come with this weight loss. My better half hurt himself on the job about a month ago. He is usually the one to do anything strenuous around the house. But with him hurt, I have been picking up the brunt of the physical-type stuff. And I'm proud to say that I can actually do it without problems. I did hire someone to help me with the spring clean up in the back yard. We have a very wooded area and it needed some trimming and weeding, but I was able to keep up with the guy we paid. I didn't feel like a lazy piece of sh*t sitting on the porch watching. I was knee deep in brush with him. That makes me feel STRONG! Happy Friday! Ash -
I was warned about issues with oral birth control due to the absorption issues after RNY. My doctor recommended NuvaRing, because it was less invasive than an IUD. I've been using it for 3 months now. I have an issue with my insurance company retracting payment on my surgery if pregnancy occurs within the first 12 months. So I'm super interested in what people have to say about this topic. I've heard of women with RNY's getting pregnant on birth control.

It is a serious mental game. Surgery doesn't change your brain, and you don't wake up with changed habits. It's so important to follow your program to the letter and commit to this for a lifetime. For as much of a struggle it can be, it will also be the best thing you'll ever do.

What does "you'll be satisfied" mean to you?
TakingABreak replied to sideeye's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You bring up a good point, because I've said this myself to someone recently on here. I posed the question about why they would want to eat more food, when less is still "satisfying". For me, I don't get that "joy" from eating like I did before. Maybe this is in part because I can't eat until that "unbutton your pants" feeling. I see food as a necessity now. I find that even when I like something, its short lived because I can only have a few bites anyway. It's shot my love for food in the heart. Which is a GOOD thing. When I say "satisfied", I mean that you are no longer hungry. Are you emotionally satisfied?, because that is virtually what you are asking. You are referring to when the brain has caught up with the stomach after you've eaten way too much. (Not you specifically, but you know what I mean). -

Such an amazing story! Thank you for sharing. Congrats! -
I like the Powerade Zero. The blue is my favorite. But I don’t think they make a Gatorade with zero sugar and zero cal.

I had my RNY on January 19th. And I just had a moment of panic thinking that it is already MAY! Some people have only 12 months of weight loss, some longer closer to 18 months. But if I loose 2lbs per week, this is only 66lbs, 3lbs is 99lbs. I need to work hard for those 3lbs!! Keep me responsible and honest friends!

I have tried a lot of different options due to the fact that I can't drink straight water anymore. I find that the more I like something, the more opt I am to drink it. I switch it up a lot so I don't get bored.

6 Weeks Out and Struggling
TakingABreak replied to Czuck1983's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey friend! Sorry you hare having such problems. Did the doctor prescribe any dissolvable anti-nausea medication? I used it a lot in the first 2 months. One thing I did to help with dehydration was I drank Pedialyte for kids. It's not the best tasting but my doctor recommended it to me when I wasn't getting enough fluids in. -
Can the surgeon leave more of the stomach if requested with VSG surgery
TakingABreak replied to JR15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm confused as to why you'd want to eat more? You will feel completely satisfied with a smaller portion, and that's the point of eating right? -

Day of surgery testing for nicotine
TakingABreak replied to Chickensoup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They will test along with all the other pre-op labs. Guaranteed they won't the morning of surgery. They have too many other things to get you ready for surgery. That being said, I hope it was only 1 cigarette, because you don't want to have to go through withdrawal while fighting the struggle of surgery. Not to mention, 1 cigarette will be out of your system within 24 hours, drink lots of water. -
thank you
