It’s hard to believe...
TakingABreak replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you so much! I followed the plan to the letter! I worked out 5 days a week. I have my top 10 tips I can comment with tomorrow, saved on my other computer. But all in all, I’ve been blessed to have really good success. -

Sorry, one more thing. It’s not like them praying for you is going to send you to hell or anything. It’s harmless right? 😏

Now this is the right way to go about it. I applaud your answer.

I think it’s a sign that they care for you and that’s how they know how to support you. Nothing disrespectful about it. Now, if they were reading bible verses by your bedside...that would be disrespectful. I think your a tad cynical about this subject. I doubt they mean any offense. They just want to show their support.

It’s hard to believe...

I still can’t drink straight water. My surgeon told me that it is the texture of water doesn’t agree with your pouch. Try adding something to the water. I don’t have problems unless I drink straight water. -

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +
TakingABreak replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
I feel like I’m in the same boat as you! I hope I’m a 12 though when I get down to 200lbs! That would be amazing. My stomach is also huge still and my boobs are gone. I’m thinking 180lb would be an amazing first goal. I’ll probably sob uncontrollably when I hit Onderland tho. Congrats on the huge success! -

Wow! That is incredible for only a few weeks! Did you lose a lot on the preop diet or before? -

Anyone have success with losing weight after having surgery
TakingABreak replied to susunorm's topic in The Gals' Room
I’ve had PCOS since I was 16. I’m also 27, married and no kids. My husband and I have tried for 5 years off and on. The rate and how much you lose varies from person to person. I’m 4 mons post op RNY. I’ve lost 102lbs so far. But I started out at 332lbs. People with higher BMI tend to loose weight faster but have longer journeys. I’ll need to loose 170 to be at goal. The one thing I know for sure is that if you follow the program and give it your all. Change your lifestyle completely. Don’t succumb to to the slippery slope of bad habits, you will lose. You will improve your health and quality of life. And a lot of women experience fertility boosts after rapid weight loss. And some women see an improvement or remission of their PCOS. It’s a long road but worth it. And this community is the best to have in your corner on the journey. Good luck! -

It’s crazy how our bodies decide where to lose from! I also lost 3 cup sizes. But I stared out at a DDD. So I was happy to get rid of them. -

cure for skin/fat roll irritation?
TakingABreak replied to Miss Topaz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I originally used nystatin powder as well. But powder won’t do anything to heal the already irritated area. I used Lotrimin cream (prescription) because it soaks into your skin. Best used when you are going to get sweaty. The powder is only a preventative. Also! My doctor recommends jock itch spray. But the same active ingredient in that is the same in foot spray as well, Tinactin. They charge more for jock spray because men will pay more for spray used on their manhood. But buy the food spray and it’s a few dollars cheaper. -
Where do you get the Outshine brand? I hate the Popsicle brand.

I only get the gladiators and for a small, it’s like 3 grams of sugar. 45 grams of protein. I have one every morning. Usually get the strawberry with spinach. Even when i get the chocolate and add 1 serving of banana (which is equivalent to an ice cream scoop) the sugar added is natural sugar form the fruit, not added processed sugar. I’ve never dumped or felt bad after drinking it. And the protein powder is the best. No weird after taste.

I had a really high BMI, so I am only about half way to goal. I think us bigger girls loose faster. But yes, my philosophy is to eat healthy. Fruits and whole grains have a place in every diet, and it just depends on how much!
-
I also eat 1000-1200 calories a day. I'm down 95lbs in 4 months. I also eat carbs, from fruits, veggies, and whole grains. I advise to up your calories for a week and see if it makes a difference. I highly doubt you will gain, so if not, its just another week stalled.

So Many Medical Problems ignored, is it obesity prejudice?
TakingABreak replied to okayestmom's topic in Rants & Raves
It's sad how right you are. BTW, I was once told I got ingrown toenails because my feet were too fat . I'm not disputing the fact that obesity is the gateway to a lot of health problems, but its not the reason for everything. Between obesity and depression... why do we need medical professionals? It's one or the other right? -
Unflavored Protein

Well that's disgusting -
I took 6 weeks off, but I also had to recover from getting shingles during my hospital stay. Everyone thinks they can go back after a few weeks if they have a desk job, but its easy to forget that blood clots, pulmonary embolisms are one of the most common post surgical complications. If you do go back to a sedentary job, make sure you are up walking every hour for at least 10 mins for the first 6 weeks. The risk doesn't go away once you stop the blood thinners.

I agree with Creek. Increase your calories to see if it makes a difference. I also eat around 1000-1200 per day and I have been steadily loosing, even my longest stall is 2 weeks. It's helpful for your typical diet to be at that range, because you can always lower it if you slow down or stall. I'd much rather be eating 1200 calories a day with great energy and stamina, then eating 700 and feeling like a slug.
