GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +

That’s crazy about Walmart. that was my go-to before surgery. Congrats on making this decision!
  2. I was the same way, your appetite will return at some point. But enjoy the easiness while it’s there. Congrats on being off the bench!
  3. I used to do this too! It would be hard to find someone bigger than me, and if they were, they were immobile most of the time. I'd see people on electric scooters in the grocery store or something of that nature. Most of them were older as well, not in their 20's like me. Now, I look at people and wonder do I look like her? Am I bigger, smaller? I compare myself to people I know, and ask my husband, Am I smaller than her now? It sounds soooo vain. And i guess partially it is. I'm so used to being the biggest in the room, but I don't think its that way anymore. Every time I see someone larger, I think to myself, have they considered WLS? Do they know how different it could be? And I know that it's not always a good option for all, but I can't help that my mind wanders there.

Anxious - Lonely - No Friends to Support My Journey

That is so incredibly kind of you to say! Thank you.
  5. I think its the idea that with the weight loss, often comes a change one one's personality. You may find yourself identifying as a new person. A part of "looking in the mirror" is also figurative. You may find that you change enough, will you like the person you see? I hope we all do. I hope we change for the better.

I ate at Burger King yesterday

I had a grilled artisan chicken sandwich from McDonalds on Saturday. I eliminated the condiments and the bun, just because white bread makes me feel nauseous. I ate a couple of fries too. Its harder to find options, but there seems to always be something to improvise with.

Anxious - Lonely - No Friends to Support My Journey

My surgeon and I discussed my goal weight in our first visit. There wasn't a real science behind what number we picked. I was an athlete in high school and he asked me the last time I felt fit and comfortable in my body. I said high school. I weighed approx. 180 lbs then. So we picked that for a first goal. Ideally i need to be closer to 150lbs to be in a healthy BMI range. I think everyone is different. Not everyone would look good in in the weight by the BMI chart. Some will look overweight, some will look under weight. I'd set my 1st goal as the 70% excess body weight, as this is typical for bypass patients. If you lose above and beyond that, its a gift.
  9. I’ve also been thinking of it a lot too. I thought for sure, the only problem in my life was my weight. But what happens when you lose the weight and things are the same? It’s a lot of self reflection. I also see these quirks about my body, especially my face that I’m not a fan of. It’s odd, you think you just need to be thinner.....

    Decisions , decisions, decisions

You have to remember that the malabsorption aids in weight loss. There is statistically a higher percentage of excess weight loss with the bypass. This is why I chose it, I was 332 when I started. Also, if you have gerd, don’t do the sleeve. The research is clear on this. hair loss is inevitable. But I think you can help the severity. Strengthen your hair as much as possible before. I avoided coloring it and making sure it was healthier. I took 10u of Biotin. Getting your Protein in everyday. You will start shedding on your natural shedding cycle, mine started 3 mons post op. Some are before, some after.
  11. I do smoothies all the time now, practically everyday, with protein powder. I can see you are post op, just not how far. But, for that other OP I’d be careful introducing fruit until it’s allowed. Just because it’s blended fruit, doesn’t mean it won’t cause distress on your pouch.
  12. I sipped on a lot of protein broth. This stuff is amazing. Great creamy, savory flavor. You can buy it at Walmart.
  13. I have this exact same problem. Now it’s just nausea vs, nausea and pain. I still can’t drink straight water almost 5 mons post op. Has she tried adding something to it, like flavored water additives, caffeine free tea, fruit infused? Also, try different temperatures. I sipped on bone broth a lot in the first few weeks.

    When does progress start

The surgery doesn’t immediately affect the outer appearance of your stomach. There are a lot of factors that can affect gain after surgery such as, IV fluids, constipation, swelling, ect. My doctor told me not even to step on the scale until my 6 week follow up. I weighted a few weeks.

    Something weird started happening ....

Fake sugar gags me a bit now. I do better with liquid stevia (natural brand I buy) added to my tea. But aspartame and other diet flavored stuff is gross and way too sweet.

    Weightloss stall

Why would you give up your medicine and B12? I’m assuming the medicine is vitamins? Surely, I would hope you wouldn’t stop a prescription medication from the doctor, just because you aren’t loosing. This doesn’t make any since. Do you want to suffer malnutrition? This won’t make you thinner. Also, vitamins won’t make you gain. You haven’t provided sufficient info for us to help you. Example of diet, logged by tracking app, exercise, water log, exercise routine. Age, surgery, past medical history (i.e. endocrine disorders, PCOS, ect.) If you want help, put the effort in to get it. And stop posting multiple threads looking for attention or different answers.

Do Protein shakes count as water intake?

My program allowed it. Protein shakes, popsicles, broth all counted towards fluid intake. Also, I didn’t have to stop drinking 30 before 30 after during liquid stages.

    Modesty question

You get it girl! I considered buying shorts with a 7” in inseam. But even then, I just couldn’t do it. Maybe one day!
  21. I'm going to try and explain this as best as possible..... Now that you've lost weight, do you feel like you have gained or lost any modesty? The reason I ask is because I have a friend who had RNY a few years ago. She was my inspiration for having the surgery myself. Sometimes I see her and I think, WOAH! I wouldn't ever be able to wear something like that. Or I think, she is so confident. She has loose skin, never had any plastics. Even swimsuits that have mesh sides, or dresses that are skin tight. But she rocks it completely. I always have said that I will maintain my "modesty". I never wore shorts before, so I wouldn't start now. Please share your opinions!
  22. It’s not a water bottle but I love my Yetti cup. It keeps things cold or hot for over 12 hours at a time.
  23. Agreed! Seeing how easily closed minded and judgmental he can be, I can draw that relation as well.
  24. This is a rule of life to live by.
  25. I’m just glad in the meantime all these community members will get to read about your “views” and hopefully the next time they scroll past your name, they will just roll their eyes and not give you the time of day, I know I won’t. The sad thing is, the beginning of this post, we had a respectful conversation about change. And I supported, not agreed, but supported the decision to lock down gender rooms. But, one decision to speak about something you clearly don’t understand may make you a lot of enemies.
