  1. I had a goal shirt in my closet I was never able to wear. It was a T-shirt I bought when I went to a Red Sox game a few years ago. I was very naive to think it would have fit back then. I remembered thinking before I had surgery, that I hope I get small enough to wear this. Sure enough, I tried it on last week. It's almost too big. Such a good feeling!
  2. Def a pillow! I had a 3.5 hour drive, and I think my husband hit every pot hole in IL as well.
  3. There hasn't been anything I've made with a Wonton wrapper that I haven't liked. I always have them on hand!

OMG My Home Scale is a Liar!

My scale is a crock of crap too! Most of the time its only 4lbs off. But I went to the doctor yesterday to discover it was 9lbs off.... I've known for a long time I needed to get a new one, because, some days I step on it and it says I only way 59lbs. LOL. And then the next day its back to being 4lbs off. Crazy, SMH. I actually just posted about this not too long ago and got some awesome recommendations! I ended up settling on this one... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FHELB56/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A26IMHULYH7PHY

    Protein

I do a lot of food based protein. I do have one protein smoothie every morning that gives me a good "head start" for the day, buy the rest comes from 100% food based. I would research high protein foods and get an idea of what you like vs. what you don't like. Your taste buds could change after surgery, but it mostly has to do with things being overly sweet after surgery. I eat a lot of the following: - eggs, all different ways - Greek yogurt - tuna packets -jerky -cottage cheese -chick peas - Brussels sprouts -Fairllife Milk with sugar free chocolate syrup. -Almonds -Meat, meat and meat. I don't discriminate with meat. I also eat soy meat 2-3 times per week. I find different ways to mix it up, as to not get bored.

    Fear of death?

Oh how I love your posts! My mom is the exact same way, fear of dying by car. She is CONVINCED her demise will be in the way of a motor vehicle. This doesn't stop her from driving like an a**hat.

    Fear of death?

I did this also! Partially because there was some fear in the back of my mind about having major surgery. But the other part, was because if something did happen, my poor poor husband would be lost. He doesn't know a single password to anything. He doesn't know anything about our finances or what the first thing to do would be.

    I feel so down

I stalled at the same time as you, almost exactly. I spent 5 days in the hospital due to complications and I didn't loose anything from about a week post op until I was well into my 3rd week.

    I feel so down

Again, just like I said to the OP.... you've lost 4 lbs per week... that is great. How long would it have taken you to lose that prior to having WLS? If you continue to loose 4lbs per week, at 6 months you'll be down 96 lbs. Id say that is a tremendous success. More so, it is very common to stall around the 3 week mark. I stalled for a week and a half. It will break and you will lose just as much as if you hadn't stalled.

    3 months in

That's 4.5 lbs per week! I think that's phenomenal! Are you working out as well?
  11. No pap or vaginal exam required for me. It was just a usual check up, blood work, and my PCP wanted to see all pre op testing results ordered by the surgeon.

    Serious Thoughts.....

I've said time and time again, the biggest mistake that these programs make is not requiring some type of continued therapy for the first year after WLS. I suggest that everyone establish with a therapist before surgery. You may need one, you may not. Its worth having someone in your corner that can walk you through the emotional hurdles that you will experience.

    I feel so down

Its not bad that you fear failure, its bad that you are setting yourself up for unrealistic expectations. The weight will not just melt off. Some people lose quicker, some slower. But one thing that we all have in common, is that they tell us that the majority of weight is loss between 12-18 months, not 12-18 days. The reason I say this is because, I fear that when you get to where I am, almost 5 months post op, and you aren't losing 2-3 lbs per week anymore... What will you think then? What kind of emotional beating will you give yourself? The fact of the matter is it takes a lot of patience. This isn't liposuction, where you wake up and you've lost all the weight, and everything is grand. They put a year long time frame on it, because it takes THAT long. Follow the program. And think to yourself. How long did it take me to loose 5lbs prior to surgery. I know that I am thankful for every pound lost, because I know how HARD it was prior to surgery to lose that single pound.

    Peanut sauce?

It is truly sad that many programs don't have a greater emphasis on healthy eating. I only had to visit a NUT one time to have surgery. Surely, that wasn't enough time to ingrain all the do's and don'ts for life after WLS. Nonetheless, I did a lot of research and use my common sense. And you are right, unfortunately you can't just trust that a bariatric friendly website is going to have healthy recipes or products.

    Pity Party - WAAAAAAAH!

@Orchids&Dragons good grief girl! that is terrible! I'm glad you are finally getting answers. Something just didn't seem normal. I hope that your surgical team comes up with a solution for the future that doesn't involve eating mushy food for life. I'll always come to a pity party if you are the host

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +

I had 4 hanging racks of shirts a lone that i advertised on FB’s market place. I did open garage sales for just the clothes. Setup pre determined times and dates. Sold all but a dozen items. Make over $600. Might be worth a try.

    Gallstones....

I’m curious as to what the doctor will prescribe for a diet afterwards? Keep us posted. I know a lot of people who have problems with certain foods once they have it removed.
  18. The article says to make sure you wash your hands and the area that the patch was on, there may be residue from the medication. It’s easy to have contact, tucking hair behind your ears for example.
  19. https://www.medicinenet.com/scopolamine-transdermal/article.htm Usually blurry vision comes from touching the patch and coming in contact with your eyes. It causes your eyes to dilate, and therefore causes blurry vision.  Mine fell off after a couple days? Six days post op it seems unlikely if it’s been off to be still causing problems.

Yeah the “one uppers” are the worse! I hope we don’t lose you Matt. It would be a shame.

    Gallstones....

And wait, are you suggesting that having an Ultrasound is an “extra” medical procedure. I’d much rather my surgeon CONFIRM the diagnosis than put me on medication without knowing the real problem. And you can’t diagnose gallstones without one. Not to mention, nearly all insurance companies pay for ultrasounds, especially for diagnostic testing, it’s one of the most minimally invasive tests there are.

    Gallstones....

I personally value Matt’s opinion, as one of the few men who regularly post. I don’t think he ever said he was smarter than anyone. He just stated the same thing that my doctor told me, which is, medication will not help if gullstones already exist. Now, if you’ve been around the block enough, you’ll know that almost every one of us has different programs. This tells me right there that doctors do different things. I’ve personally challenged my doctor with things I’ve read on here, because I have wondered if his way was the only way. I’m just saying that, doctors aren’t always “right”. There are lots of methods to choose from.

    Total Loss Of Sexual Desire

There is a lot of things you can do to fix the situation. There are couples therapist that specialize in sex therapy. Also, there are programs and books you can follow to refocus and give you ideas to rekindle the flame. I know it seems silly to go buy a book, but I’ve seen it work. Everyone associates sex as more of a mental thing for women, but it can be for a man as well.

    Total Loss Of Sexual Desire

It may not be surgery related. I know it’s common to have lack of a sexual desire for moments in time. How long would you say it’s been going on?
