  1. You have to judge what’s best for you. I don’t have vomiting, but sometimes nausea or discomfort with certain foods. I wouldn’t stress about it. When the time comes, you will know what to do.
  2. Why are you confused @Frustr8? I noticed you hit the confused emoticon... can i clarify?
  3. I eat pretty balanced throughout the day. I eat carbs as well, usually keep it around 60 grams max. But I eat all types of meats, and soy meat at least 3 times a week. I eat fruits and veggies as snacks. I also like to eat whole grains a few times a week as well. There isn't a whole lot i've found that upsets my stomach, but when I do find those items, i don't give up on them just yet. I will try it again at least twice to see if it has the same affect.

    Frustrating, depressing, sad....

Notice he didn’t say “I” maybe it happened to his wife. It’s not exactly WLS topic. I’m guessing he’s just getting a general consensus

    Just got in trouble!

Beans are good for you, my Dr. Allows. Everyone should do what they think is best. We eat so little, eat what you like in moderation. If you like corn and beans eat it...its not cake. I find this forum to be ok for some things but far too restricting and fear mongering sometimes.... Oh trust me, I eat corn and beans. I was saying it sucks for the person who said it’s against their plan. My program allows back carbs, even starchy carbs, within moderation, of course. They also encourage a healthy amount of calories. I’m thankful I don’t have a “strict” program. I feel like I have more control eating things in moderation.
  7. Yes, I’m 5 months post op, six months on July 19th. I feel like it takes time to reintroduce foods. There are foods you don’t eat often and when the time comes, it’s a learning curve all over again. Things that you eat pre op might not sit well post op. This is why I feel like a food virgin sometimes. Not all bad, just a part of the process.

Oh man, that would suck. Love corn and beans!
  9. Exhausting yes! And I don’t like to try anything new unless I’m at home!

I agree with Creek. Talk to an attorney, it’s absurd and sounds like workplace harassment.
  11. I feel slided that I never got to try.

I had a little cup of caramel icecream today

Bought these for this grossly hot weekend. Hit the spot. Won’t make it a daily habit but, good enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

    Ready to workout.

I didn’t start lifting right away but I needed to lose a bit before I could get real motivated with lifting. I was pretty big before and working out was a big chore.

    Fairlife Milk for Protein?

I love FairLife. Use it exclusively. I even use it as a “snack” and add sugar free chocolate syrup.

    help after surgery?

That’s a great idea to go to the hair dresser. I remember taking a shower at the hospital, and it was the most exhausting thing ever imaginable. Thankfully when I got home I have a seat in the shower and could take breaks.

    help after surgery?

My husband was home for almost 2 weeks post op, and while it was nice to have him around, def not needed. The hardest part is that you can’t lift anything over 10lbs for the first week, and it gradually increases. You don’t realize all the things that are over 10lbs. But I did a lot of food prep prior to surgery, so I just warmed up food. I think the company is nice but you should be OK.
  17. I struggled immensely with the same things. I bought all these water additives because I thought it would help me after surgery, and still can’t stomach them anymore. I go through periods of time where I can drink Crystal Light Lemonade, and other times makes me gag. I have to constantly switch it up. I find the same with food. Especially if the food makes me nauseous after eating it or I have a stomach ache. I will say that I’m pretty methodical about what I eat now, and tend to have the same things over and over. A lot of which I would eat pre op, doesn’t taste the same or I just don’t have the taste for it anymore. I don’t rule anything out though, I’ll try it again at some point.

    Altered Taste Buds

I had some food “adversion” or extreme lack of appetite for a few weeks 3-6 post op. During that time, I hated the smell of food, the sight and the taste of almost everything. It eventually went away. Sometimes I wish I had a bit of it now and again LOL. It will pass, however, there may be things you don’t like post op. I know there’s a couple on my list that I can’t eat anymore that I loved before.

I’m so ready to feel better!

You should be able to find healthy-ish options while eating out. Here is an article that has some breakfast options. Just stay away from white bread, pasta (that isn't whole grain, or protein pasta), and anything with processed sugar. http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20961496,00.html#lyfe-kitchen-spinach-and-avocado-frittata-0

One thing I love about MFP is it gives you a great way to track your progress. I love looking at my pics to see my face change.

I use MFP also, and I like it a lot... sorry that's not helpful. I even pay for the premium version w/o ads. I have tried Baritastic as well. Just remember that dieting is different than surgery. Surgery will change your taste buds and your tolerance for certain foods, textures, and even smells. This won't be your average weight loss attempt when it comes to what you will want to eat or not eat. I do hope that you can find something that works. Getting enough protein is a huge key to success. Everything from weight loss to hair loss.

    JP Drain Issues

I had a drain with my RNY. It caused a lot of unnecessary pain, but the doctor said there was a lot of residual bleeding and he was forced to place one for a few days.

I hope you don't get sick of protein supplements like most WLS patients... a lot of times it becomes intolerable. Too sweet and the texture wears on you. You can always try.

Or even better, try meeting your protein goals with food & logging it each day. After the initial food progression stages, you need to learn to eat lean protein for every single meal. Its difficult to get in a habit of thinking that a salad without a lean meat or soy option isn't a good choice (veggies you put on salads don't add up to much in the way of protein). Many people don't make protein goals prior to surgery. That was on thing my NUT suggested was to make sure I was meeting this goal prior to. I had to learn what protein sources I liked and which I didn't like. I like to meet my goals with food, vs. protein supplements. But to each their own.
