  1. I need some help I’m exactly a month out from surgery and have hit a stall, my surgery weight was 299 and I’m going between 275-277 right now, so I have lost 20 or so pounds since surgery. What I am having a issue with getting enough calories and probably protein in, I’m probably getting 400-500 calories and I know it should be more, but as hard as I try I just can’t seem to eat more. I tend to be able to eat more at night and that’s when I get most my protein in. I have finally started back at the gym swimming and doing cardio on the bike, so I hope that helps, but I need some suggestions to get this stall moving... I feel like it’s pretty early into the game to have a stall like this Its been close to two weeks , it’s really disappointing and discouraging for me.. I’m trying to stay away from the scale, but it’s hard
  2. My tastebuds got stronger.. I was enjoying broths I was drinking and everyone who tasted it said it just tasted like water haha
  3. I have kaiser and I had my lap band removed in 2014 at the end of 2014 I attempted to go through the process of getting a revision but wasnt ready personally for myself and fell off on trying to lose weight and keep up with appointments. In June 2017 I decided I was finally ready to try this again, but this time I had gained all my weight back prior to having lap band and plus some.. I had even gained the weight back that I was asked to lose the first go around so I was concerned about what they would tell me. They do make you go through the whole process like your having WLS for the first time and the surgeon I saw wanted me to lose a good amount of weight before they would consider doing it, I was asked to lose 30 lbs by one surgeon and 35 lbs by another.. well I worked my butt off and managed to get 42 lbs off before my surgery that I had this last Monday oct 23rd I did a revision to Gastric Bypass, it took me a little over 3 months to lose that weight just by following their diet plan and exercising, If you stay dedicated you can accomplish it pretty fast! I found that doing more then one class in a day helped with getting the required classes done a lot easier as well as scheduling to see the doctors or whatever else appointments you have required to do so you don’t have to keep going back and forth.. Good Luck sweetie!

Weight gain in the first two weeks post op

I’m about 3 days post op and I too already jumped on the scale.. it’s showing that I am the same weight as when I went in for surgery, so maybe there’s a possibility I will have water weight from the IV fluids.. but I do now I started off pretty dehydrated the day of surgery soo my body might have absorbed all of what I got.. I haven’t had any hungry and just been trying to get my fluids and protein in as best as I can.. I’m feeling that that’s the hard part, plus I don’t want to drink to much at once because I feel I will over do my pouch too.. anyways tomorrow I’m going to try a little more solid food like yogurt or cottage cheese and see how it goes

Bypass vs Sleeve, trying to decide

Have you had your lap band removed already?
  6. I just had a revision from lap band to gastric bypass on Monday I had my lap band removed in 2014 and had issues with it as well.. my band did slip and caused scaring in the area and always had food stuck in my throat and vomiting all the time even with water. So far I am not hungry at all and tried some pudding today and can’t really tel if I’m getting full or not, but since I’m not hungry I’m just eating what they want me to get in.. I did jump on the scale when I got home and am still the same weigh as when I went in.. I know some of that has to be fluids.. but just curious what your loss is at this point?

    Migraines anyone?

I’ve been having a continuous headache since I’ve been one from surgery, which was on the 23rd and Tylenol is not doing anything neither is the liquid norco. I’ve tried to get as much fluids in but I’m sure I am a little dehydrated, but I am peeing ok.. I really hope this stops soon it’s going to drive me crazy!! I had a revision from lap band to gastric bypass and I just got to say this wasn’t what I was expecting at all it’s way more intense then when I got my lap band put in and removed yikes.. I usually tolerate pain pretty well but this sucks haha.. good luck everyone with your head aches hopefully we can figure something out
  8. I just had revision from lap band to gastric bypass, only about 48 hrs out right now and one thing that really surprised me was how much more intense this surgery was then the lap band I’ve been in a good amount of pain.. think I got sent home a little to soon.. but I am having no desire to eat anything right now, basically having to force myself to get liquids down right now haven’t felt the pouch become “full” yet probably will when I switch to stage two foods, but I had the same feeling of being full in my throat with lap band too so be interesting to see how this feels. Good luck with everything!

    Regret

I had surgery on Monday at 1:00 pm and they sent me home the following day at noon, not sure if I was ready to leave the hospital I feel awful, we had a long drive home that almost killed me, at the hospital i was having to get pain medication every hour and nausea medication . Since I only have one nausea medication and one pain medication I have to space it out like every 6 hours and it’s no good because I’m still in a good amount of pain, I feel the same as you I usually feel like I’m able to handle pain pretty well and like to be able to take care of myself but feel like a huge baby right now , I know things should get better your only six days and that’s why they say give yourself at least two weeks or more, but I feel you my surgery was a revision from a lap band that I had removed in 2014 and I don’t remember it being this intense when I had it put in or removed.. I was taken off guard by the pain I’m experiencing

Bypass vs Sleeve, trying to decide

Hello, I’m going into surgery today, it will be a revision from lap band to gastric bypass.. I had my lap band removed in 2014 due to complications and erosion. Doctor suggested we go with the gastric bypass because of the scarring as well I was hesitant and even got second opinions, but fully understand now that we would be high risk in general because of previous surgery and with a bypass they are able to cut around the scared tissue and not into it like the sleeve. Really hoping this works for me. Had done great on lap band went from 260 to 135 and leveled off at 165 for many years, but did pick up bad habits and eventually got back into the 200s. When I had my lap band removed I believe I was 220 and right afterward my son passed away to an accidental drowning and my life turned upside down I gain all my weight back plus some now my current weight today is 297, HW was 341, and lost 42lbs by myself before surgery, I hope everything works out for you!! Good luck
