I think I am going to have this discussion with my surgeon as well. I really am dreading puree ....
-
What magic words did you use to be able to skip purees? LOL!
-
This one recipe I found looks good. I still have a week before I can try it: https://www.foodcoach.me/recipe/italian-chicken-puree-bariatric-pureed-diet/

So for those of you that don't know it, I am culinary-challenged. I am an awful cook and terrible at food preparation so I thought the pureed food stage was going to be murder until I found this from a company called Thick-It: http://thickit.com/products/purees/. Now certainly not all of the products will qualify as some have too much sugar/carbs. But for the most part, they look like they could work well. I know that this is kicking the problem a little further down the road, but for the time being, it may help for the pureed stage. So what are your thoughts?

Successful surgery but able to eat too much
Mattymatt replied to Bryanmb's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is my concern as well. I am scared that I won't feel full. I have handled liquids so easily that I worry a little bit about not feeling full on a few bites of puree. Have you tried waiting for 20-30 minutes after the first few bites to see if you just have a delayed reaction to food? -
Welcome to the losers bench! Feels good doesn't it?

Excellent! Let us know how you're doing.

I drank my Protein Shake too quickly and puked. Lesson learned! Le sigh ... it's been a frustrating day. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

This morning I did not need to take any Tylenol because the pain is now just an ache. This is a welcome feeling. Now, just 7 days left of liquids and it's onward to the pureé stage. Liquid protein is getting old fast but I'm going to be religious about adhering to the surgeon's orders. My surgeon knows better than me. LOL Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

Ach .... I can only imagine.

It depends on the stage your on and your program. This is not easily answered. I am not allowed any milk products until the puree stage.
-
I just had a Dunkin Donuts Decaf K-Cup and it really hit the spot. I wasn't certain if it was allowed so I just drank it slowly and I am tolerating it without issues.

How to stop the craving of snacks???!
Mattymatt replied to TJ30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am trying to build a tool chest of other things to do so I don't give into the cravings, if and when I do experience them again. I am going to get up and be active. -

It's all about balance. Some goals are good, but too many can lead to frustration. That's my 0.02. It's worth that, if less. I am trying to discover living life in balance, something that's been out of whack for me for quite a bit.

@Kay07 I am honestly too overwhelmed right now with re-learning how to live my life without having food as my go to for when life makes me sad or pisses me off, LOL! I got my hands too full to even think about 190. I am goal-oriented as well, but this time, I am going to take it in stride.

Hey, it's okay. Don't go so hard on yourself because you're taking it by the reigns. You're young. I've got a decade on you. I am old enough to remember when Kim Carnes' Bette Davis Eyes was released. I was in elementary school. Now that's old ... LOL! Just think of it, in a few short months, I'll feel 30 again, and you'll be 20.

Boston is a fun town. About 12 years ago, some buddies and I had some mad fun at Dirty d**k's Last Resort. We closed the place down. Good god where does time go?

I totally happened upon it by accident. I am considering it good luck!

Hi Kay. My dietitian set my goal to be 190 and she did this by BMI for my height, 6'4". It seems impossibly far away as I am 336 pounds right now. I would just be thrilled to get to 230 - that would be a hella achievement. I'm gonna shoot for the moon and try for 190 but I dunno ....
-
Glad someone is at least familiar with the product. How well does it work? Do patients generally like it?
-
To the person that modded my post as sad, thank you, thank you very much. It's not sad at all. In fact this could be very helpful.

Ooh yeah! Gotta love it. I'm in West Chester, PA and this is gonna suck. I'm cold too. Tried taking a walk this morning but the wind left me gasping. What the hell? I used to love cold. I've only lost 30 pounds but that wind has a bite now. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
