Wow, I am very sorry to hear this! They should grandfather you in under the old policy because you've met the requirements. This might even become a legal matter if they deny you. You could sue them.

Constipation Issues
Mattymatt replied to blackhawkpro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, the best thing is taking Colace. It is very gentle on the stomach and works in about 1-2 days. My surgeon said I could take it both in the morning and at night. -

Emotional roller coaster after weight loss
Mattymatt replied to NanoQ's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have some understanding because the first 4 weeks post-op were hell for me. I had RNY on March 12 and it wasn't until last Monday, April 9th, that I began to start feeling like myself again. I felt quick to anger/impatience and there were times when I would just break down and cry. It took a little medical detective work, but between my doctors, we figured out that I wasn't absorbing the anti-depressant effectively. The psychiatrist changed the form of my medicine to a salt-tab style which just dissolves under the tongue. Then I realized I was mistakenly eating some deli meat and cheese thinking that it would count as pureed. My stomach revolted and I had no idea why. Once I learned that mistake and started eating "allowed" pureed food, well I instantly started feeling better. -

Nice Ash! I'll bet it was much more enjoyable to shop this time around. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Way to persevere and not toss in the towel!

I went to the gym this morning feeling surprisingly strong. I think it must be the 100 something grams of protein intake a day. I was aiming for 15 minutes of cardio and blew that goal out of the water. By the time I looked at the clock it was at 28 minutes and I am like, "Okay, 2 minutes and I am done." So I hopped off the elliptical at 30 minutes feeling really good. I don't want to overdo it because I want to make the gym a daily habit. Still this is every reason to feel good!

Being on this high protein diet has the pleasant added bonus of recovering quickly from a workout. I feel pretty good this morning after yesterday afternoon's first gym session in 4 years. I expected to be feeling pretty tired but I feel I could do some stationary bicycle stuff today.

I'm not mocking you at all. I'm impressed. I can barely manage 15 minutes on am elliptical and you are killing it. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

That's an awkward situation but you can't let things like that bother you. Water off of a duck's back. They can't take anything away from the progress you made! Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yeah, that would probably be way too distracting. Are you in Eastern PA or Western? I am in the Greater Philly area.

I think I'll try something big when I get to goal weight. For now, it's just the simple task of work out and eat right. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

I purposely signed up online so I wouldn't have to go through the hard sell. I wouldn't trust their trainers to walk my dog. They just seem like muscle bound morons. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hellz@fluffychix, 15 minutes on the elliptical was enough for me. Beast mode eventually but not now. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

My legs feel like jelly .... but it is a good feeling.

Are you tracking your intake? Doing so might help you find the problem area.

If I had to guess, your surgeon is not going to sweat 4 pounds. I think you'll still have the surgery. The real reason for the strict pre-op diet is to shrink your liver to make your surgery safer. So yeah, I truly believe you'll be alright.

It's amazing how much this surgery changes you. I used to hate seafood of any kind. Today I discovered that I now like tuna fish. It goes down real smooth and doesn't lay like a rock. Plus, it's considered a high quality protein at 15g per serving. I'm also enjoying getting my protein through sources other than shakes. It's amazing that tuna almost tastes like a real flaky chicken. It's honestly easier to eat the canned tuna than the canned chicken. I even added a little light mayo. I'm excited to see what other foods that I did not used to like but like now. I discovered I no longer like pepperoni ... that was a surprise to me. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

Today, I am no longer morbidly obese! My BMI is now 39.3. I think I'll just celebrate the small stuff. So what's the next lower tier? Is it "severely obese"?

Science of the "3 week stall?"
Mattymatt replied to wjgo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had a three week stall. I am sure I will get a stall, it's just a matter of when. I am sure there are a myriad of causes and reasons, but the bottom line is really no one knows for certain. My surgeon even said that there are only theories, no for certain reasons. -
Approaching surgery date is freaking me out!!
Mattymatt replied to Nikki_Nik87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The post-op road has not been an easy one to travel for me but what kept me going was the clear knowledge that every day I would become a little healthier. Immediately after surgery, I went from 7 medications to 1. Celebrate every win, no matter how small it may seem. Also, be patient with yourself and allow time to heal and feel better. Today is the first day that I actually feel like myself and I am 28 days post-op. I finally have the energy, desire, and drive to go join a gym and get my workout on. When times are tough, just keep looking hour to hour and day to day. Also, please don't make the mistake I did by tempting fate and trying to go back to old habits. I had a soft pretzel after only two weeks post-op and I felt miserable for days. That alone probably caused some significant setbacks and is why it took me almost 30 days to feel strong. In my previous life, food was joy, happiness, sadness, and pleasure. I reached for the soft pretzel precisely because I was feeling sad and bereft. Not only did it taste like saw dust and feel very bad in my stomach, but I felt absolutely no satisfaction in eating it, whereas previously it would have been an instant pick me up. Post-surgery will be an immense change. If you are an emotional eater, my guess is after this surgery, eating won't produce the same result as it used to. -
Blood vessel pop due to dumping?
Mattymatt replied to Hector1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's cool that it went away but you still want to go see a doctor. Also, you will probably want to avoid having foods that could cause dumping - I know I sure do. I haven't experienced dumping just yet. On the one time I did stray away from the path by eating a soft pretzel, it didn't cause me to dump and my surgeon said that dumping typically happens with raw sugary carbs, not the more complex type. But I felt like absolute sh1t in other ways so I just don't tempt fate anymore.
