Welcome to the start of a great journey. We've all been there but know that it does get a whole lot better!
-
That was sure a stroke of luck!

I'll bet by the time I am writing this, you're on your way to the losers bench. Let us know how things go!

I am sorry. I didn't mean to come off as judgemental. I should have clarified that the reasons I took the before pictures was to get validation from other people because I felt so crappy and insecure about myself.

Type 2 diabetes and liquid diet pre and post op
Mattymatt replied to Janetslp's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I dealt with this situation that you described while I was on the pre-op liquid diet. It means being in contact with your endocrinologist. I recommend contacting him or her about a week prior to beginning the pre-op diet. My endo told me to stop taking Victoza and insulin the day before the diet was to begin. She explained to me that both medicines will drop me too low. Instead I remained on Metformin for the duration of the pre-op liquid diet. So I would recommend you contact the prescribing doctor to let him or her know what's going on so they can make adjustments. Have you let the doctor know about your recent lows? Post-op, my endo also pulled me off of Metformin because she said it is no longer necessary and will only cause diarrhea and painful cramping in areas effected by the surgery. My endo was right and my diabetes has been effectively cured. It feels so good to be without 3 medicines for blood sugar control and 3 medicines for blood pressure/cholesterol. My friend, you've got nowhere to go but up. -
Today I see the sleep doctor and it is a good thing because I need to get a small-sized mask for my CPAP now. Since losing the amount of weight that I have, the mask is now too big, leaks air, and shifts. I had 3.5 apnea's per hour last night and I am used to less than 1 so I really did not sleep very well. I don't feel bad - just sluggish and I am certainly not recouped from yesterday's workout so it is a rest day.

I joined LA Fitness today and I went on the elliptical machine for 15 minutes. First time in a gym in four years and it felt good just to join and go. Tomorrow, I will aim for another 15 minutes but on the bicycle to use different muscles and do something non-weight bearing. I am thinking that the gym will be kind of like AA. All I need is the desire to get activity and to just keep coming back. Simple enough, right?

Here you guys what I look like so far

Smart move. If after 5 minutes more you feel like you can rock it, keep going. Again, listen to your body. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app -

It may be time then to push yourself a little bit. I'm sure you will feel fine. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Be safe and smart about it. Gradual increases. Remember, if you make it unpleasant, you won't want to return. The key is comfort and enjoyment. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I like the Chocolate Premiere Protein best!

Hooray!

There are plenty of people that do workout that frequently. The key is to do it smart and safe and listen to your body. I am going to do this under a physician and physical therapist's guidance. We're not meant to be sedentary and everything I read about confirms this.

Before and After Pics

And you look great! I am sure your heart is thank you! -
Only head to the gym if you physically feel like it. The key is for the initial gym experience to be a pleasant and comfortable. This is the angle that I am taking. I'll push myself a little bit further down the road.

No such a time was specified. I know that the program wanted me to be exercising as soon as I got home from the hospital but I was feeling really sh1tty until last Sunday when I finally started feeling like myself. I finally felt like I wanted and desired physical activity yesterday. I hope this trend continues. The first 4 weeks post-op were absolute hell for me, probably worse than the pre-op liquid diet.

Please don't be disappointed

Nope, she sure won't be. A 75 pound difference on a person is marked. She will notice and probably be super proud of you. -
That's a good way to go about it. I am aiming to make LA Fitness a 7 day a week adventure. IT's going to be a daily habit.

Premiere Protein shakes are fantastic! They have 30g of protein and are low in carbs and sugar. My program swears by them and I agree. They taste really good too.

If you choose to step up your game, just don't overdo it and make yourself feel miserable. I have to keep reminding myself that Rome wasn't built in a day and to keep my expectations and goals reasonable.
-
I was shocked that today I managed 30 minutes. I spaced out and finally looked down and the clock read 28 minutes. Two more and I got off. Doubled the goal!
-
Don't sweat it if you don't make it because it is the long term result that ultimately matters. I would love 80 lbs at my 3 month post-op, but any kind of progress is perfectly okay. :-D
-
Day-um! 27 pounds pre-op is pretty phenomenal. I only lost 10. :-( Oh wellz, I am making up for it now. Minus two pounds overnight from the exercise alone.

Thank you for the warning. I am SO looking forward to fresh, boiled corn on the cob. It's one of my favorites.
