  1. I got my sleeve on the 17th and from day 1 post-op I couldn’t get my protein in. The first week I was able to get 30g (one shake) in atleast now these Premier Protein shakes make sick I cannot stomach them and I’m thinking it’s because of the dairy or dairy consistency, I’ll gag and dry heave after cause it makes my stomach upset. Now I feel ill and weak because I’ve just be having soup, water, and tea. I was going to get the ISOPURE Zero Carb drink but $45 for 12 bottles?? That will only last me about a week and I still have 3-4 weeks until I can get protein from other foods and meats. However, I bought the ISOPURE unflavored protein what are some good things to add it into? I can have unsweetened tea along with lemon water and crystal light

    Regretting my surgery.

Thank you everybody for the kind words. I’m getting alittle bit better everyday but will be seeking counseling again soon hopefully. I’m on my puréed stage now and I feel better getting some food into my body for energy. Putting some life into me haha

    Puréed stage: Baby foods???

Not nutrition to meet full size adult needs but just a way to get in some extra fruits and veggies into your diet. What I️ bought was a baby rice cereal/oatmeal, almost like a cream of wheat. I was told by my nutritionist and dietitian that it’s okay to eat. It’s nothing compared to me eating a bowl of rice
  4. Hello! I got my gastric sleeve done on October 17th. I’ve been on full liquids for 4.5 weeks (2 pre-op, 3 post-op). Because I’ve been on this liquid diet for so long since my surgery I cannot stomach the yogurt or jello that I’m allowed to eat so I’ve mainly been on protein, water and soup. I’m supposed to start my puréed diet on Monday but I’ve been able to hold down puréed foods now for the last 2-3 days. Last week I started blending up my soups and I was able to keep that down with no discomfort, nausea or severe dumping. Yesterday I mashed up some avocado with lime and alittle salt and ate about two tablespoons (took me 30-45ish minutes but it got me full). Today I’m going to work and on my puréed diet I can have eggs and I wanted to make myself some scrambled eggs with skim milk because it’s easy and convenient. I should be good right? I felt bad even mashing up that avocado cause I was worried about messing up my new stomach but I had no problem and I actually felt really good getting some nutrients into my body

    Regretting my surgery.

I have an iPhone and it’s glitching just know that all the weird characters are suppose to be the letter “I” (eye) it won’t let me type it
  6. Title is supposed to say “DIET” but it won’t seem to let me change it lol
  7. Hello! I’m 19 years old and I’m somewhat new to BariatricPal! I got my sleeve done on October 17th so I’m 13 days post-op! I feel great! I’m currently down 28 pounds just this month. I just my post-op check up with my surgeon and everything is good and he gave me the approval to start working out again which I’m very excited about. My surgeon said don’t worry about building muscle and to mainly focus on cardio and fat burning exercises. What are some good Post-Op workouts to do at the gym?
  8. I’m 13 days post-op from my sleeve and my belly is growling it feels like a hunger growl (even though I’m not hungry). It’s so weird! I’m assuming it’s gas or bowel movements but has anyone else experienced this?

    Weed, Marijuana, Pot

A week after my surgery I started using marijuana again and it replaces all my pain medication however I didn’t smoke the dry herb. I recommend cannabis THC concentrate (Or CBD) oil in a vape pen. That way you start feeling good in one or two puffs and don’t have to keep smoking.

    Regret

I had regrets too about a week after. I’m two weeks post-op now and it gets easier. You NEED to change your relationship with food if you want to be successful. It gets easier and it’s very rewarding!

    Time off

My surgeon tried to tell me “you’ll be back to work in 3 days” no no no. Depending on your job I would take atleast a week off. I have a somewhat physical jobs (Reaching, bending down, ladders) and I was back a week and a half after my sleeve but I still took it easy. It takes about two weeks to kinda adjust and feel “normal” again
  12. I’m seeing my surgeon tomorrow for my one week post-op and hopefully they’ll see what’s going on but I’m hoping I’m just worried for nothing. I just had my sleeve done on October 17th and I’m not feeling well. I’m really cold but I know that’s a normal thing. But my blood pressure gets low in the morning and I feel dizzy and nauseous like I’m gonna pass out. I’ve had this problem before my surgery but it’s more often now. And I also still have ALOT of gas I’m constantly burping and I haven’t had a bowel movement yet. It’s hard for me to get liquids down. So far I’m able to get one-one and a half protein shakes down and one 30oz bottle of water a day. However anytime I do drink something my esophagus feels weird (like I need to burp) then my stomach feels nauseous. Lastly I feel like my heart races alittle faster if I do anything physical. I have no problem walking around it’s just if I reach or bend down for something but thinks I’ve never had problems with. I have a lot of anxiety issues with panic attacks so maybe I’m just overthinking for nothing
  13. Im almost 2 weeks post-op from my gastric sleeve so I’m still on my full liquid diet. I can have high protein soups or cream soups with skim milk (like cream of chicken + one “can” of skim milk). I can still have broth and I’ve been drinking the Campbells Chucky/Hearty soups (healthy heart version with low fat, low sodium, low calories) mainly broth then I’ve been blending some of the cooked vegetables and I had no problem keeping it down and digesting it. Today I took a can and only added half of the cooked vegetables and blended it really smooth and added a scoop of Isopure unflavored protein. It’s blended up very well with no chunks at all (just has a tomato soup consistency) I haven’t eaten it yet but I’m concerned maybe I can’t have it yet I’m very worried about following my diet. I was told by a few people that they were allowed to do this on their full liquid and their doctors said as long as they can keep it down cause the main focus is making sure your body can stomach it (pun intended) and digest it probably

    Smoking weed post-op

Update! Im now fully off my Norcos and smoking if I have pain and for sleeping. I smoked my oil in my pen last night and I had no changes it just put me to sleep like normally and I felt good in the morning! So for me personally there’s no difference. So much better than taking opiates yuck those pills are poison

    I’m worried I have a leak

Thank you! I think most of it is due to anxiety cause I’m 19 years old and this was also my first surgery so lots of nerves and concerns

    Post-op pooping

Update everyone! I drank milk of magnesia and it worked! However a mix of hard stool and bad diarrhea. But honestly it’s better than nothing!! I was feeling like crap not getting anything out and I feel so much better
  17. Hello! I’m new to BariatricPal I just joined today. I’m 19 years old and I just got a gastric sleeve on October 17th. I’m currently post-op day 5. The first few days were really rough all I was eating was ice chips. My dietitian said in the beginning I’ll only be able to get down 1 or 2 Premier Protein shakes but so far I’ve only been able to get down half a shake and a half or 3/4 bottle of water. I have minimal pain but only on my right side and my stomach is pretty numb to touch by my belly button. I’m feeling good other than being tired and drained because I’m not getting enough nutrients. I’m also taking two multi vitamins a day along with gas and pain pills if needed. I need some tips on just getting these shakes down. My dietitian said I can add fruits to my shakes as long as they don’t have seeds in them (I.E bananas, peaches, mangos, blueberries). After the surgery the protein shakes are gross to me and it’s hard for me to just sip sip sip all day on something I don’t enjoy
  18. Hello! I’m new to BariatricPal! I’m 19 years old and I’m one week post-op from my gastric sleeve. I’m on my full liquids for another 2 weeks then I can start my puréed diet! I’m actually really excited for it cause I can eat real food with flavor. Some people suggest baby food (not the meat but like sweet potato’s, carrots or peas) As weird as it sounds I’m so excited to eat Hummus and mashed potatoes! My dietitian said anything can be puréed if you try hard enough but make good choices. What’s your favorite thing to eat on your puréed diet?
  19. I’m not big on cottage cheese but the Greek yogurt with fruit or goodies you dump in are really good!

    Getting protein in post-op

I did not mean to imply that I expect everything to be “perfect” just simply I’ve been on the same protein shake for 3 weeks and was looking for suggestions to spice it up and get myself to get more protein down post op everyone must admit if you’re on the same drink 3 times a day everyday for 3 weeks it gets challenging after awhile
