    Anyone in Issaquah, WA?

Hi there! I live in Bremerton. I’d love to start a support group in this area. I’m going to call my team at a Kaiser and see if they have recommendations?

    First real foods

I just had my first real food. I’m 20 days post op. I made a soft boiled egg. I’ve been able to drink my protein drinks and eat yogurt, popsicles, and cottage cheese with no problem. After two very small bites, I felt like I ate a dozen eggs. So strange!

    100 lbs lost!

You really do look amazing. Can I ask you if you have a lot of extra skin? If yes, how do you deal with it?

    Stop losing weight

Seems like you need to up your protein intake to 60g per day. Did you get solid nutritional counseling before you had the surgery? There is some great information out there. I am still learning so much! Stay tuned to these boards, and it will help your journey a lot [emoji173]️

    Surgery day!!

I will be praying for you, for sure! Hang in there and know you are making the best decision you can for yourself. What are your stats? Have you been waiting for a long time? What state do you live in? My surgery date was 5 days ago, so I’m still in the healing process. I’m not used to any of this yet, but I feel so much better already. My HW 289, SW 248, CW 240, GW 145. My journey is in front of me, and I’m ready!! [emoji3]

    Multicare Tacoma

I am definitely not a CHI fan, not one single bit. Both from an employee and a patient standpoint. Where do you live? I am in Kitsap County, and looking to find a support group. Do you know if there is one around? When is your surgery date? I had my surgery on Wed, Nov 15. So far, so good. It’s a little bit odd getting used to my new way of life, and I am still healing, but I believe I have made the most important and wonderful decision I could’ve ever made for myself. Onward we go!

    November surgery

Hi Davida, I had my surgery on Nov 15 and just got home from hospital last night. I spiked a fever this morning, but I’m doing much better now. My next few days will be filled with learning how to eat (or should I say drink), and figure out all these new processes. I would love to find a pal here, someone I can encourage and be encouraged by and grow with (or should I saw shrink with)!!!

    My big day was 10/26/17

Thanks so much for sharing your story!! It was so encouraging to me. I’m in the hospital and just told I need to stay one more night. The procedure hurt so much more than I thought it would, but after only a few days I am feeling so much better. I would love to stay in touch? What state are you in? Cathy

    Not finished yet.

My surgery is on Wednesday and I am so enjoying this site. It is awesome to see the success stories and not read about the problems. I’ve been reading about problems, and my brain is going 1,000,000 miles a minute. Thank you for sharing everyone!

    Vitamins

We were told by the dietician (Kaiser) absolutely no patch vitamins. I’m not sure why? It would be so convenient!

    Sorbitol

Hi everyone, My surgery is only 5 days away. Yikes! It's pretty much all I think about and I've gotta say - my brain has be going back and forth and back and forth. Should I? Shouldn't I? I know I'm making the right decision - I just think it's the finality of it all that is hitting me. I'm so thankful for this Board and I'm thankful for my binder. There is so much to learn! I did have a funny episode last night. I love popsicles. I absolutely love them and when I found this new brand that is sugar-free, but doesn't have the nasty saccharine and all of that, I got pretty excited. The brand is, "Outshine Fruit Bars." After a very, very long day at work, I settled into bed at about 8pm to watch a few of my DVR'd shows. Before I knew it, I ate 7 of them (hmm - wonder if this is part of my problem?). My stomach started to rumble and then I remember reading an article about an ingredient in sugar-free candy that was giving people diarrhea. I looked it up, and sure enough - the popsicles have Sorbitol in them - the ingredient that gives you diarrhea. Well, it's true. I was up all night long. Finally, at about 5am, I was done with the fun (TMI?). I guess eating 7 popsicles isn't such a great idea, no matter what the ingredients are! I'm living and learning

Have you had the surgery yet? If so, how long ago? Cathy
  17. I’m so excited to be having my surgery on November 15. That’s only nine days away! I’m terrified of the actual surgery and also scared I️ won’t succeed. It’s crazy. This forum has been such a blessing for me, as I’ve met new people and have read many, many stories. I would love to also make a friend who lives close by! Do any of you live in the Seattle Washington area?
  18. My highest weight was 289, my current weight is 251, and my surgery is in 10 days. I’m feeling a little bit terrified, but finding some comfort reading different posts. I believe I’m doing the right thing, but it is a huge life changing decision, for sure! I’m 58 and want to enjoy my senior years. I lost my husband of 29-years 9 years ago to cancer. I’m ready to date again, but first want to focus on being healthy and secure with me. Let the adventure begin!!!
  19. That does sound frustrating to be thinking about food all day. I thought one of the benefits of surgery is we won’t be hungry? I sure don’t want to be hungry or uncomfortably full all the time. All of this can feel very overwhelming to me!My surgery is in 10 days and I’m very nervous. I pray I’m making the right choice!

    Vitamins

I didn’t realize we could use vitamin patches? It isn’t listed in my binder? It sure makes sense though! I have my bypass surgery on 11/15. Getting close! I want to also make sure all of my stuff is organized well [emoji2]
  21. That doesn’t sound very fun! How are you getting in enough calories and vitamins? My surgery is in 13 days. These types of stories give me pause. I don’t know what I would do in your shoes right now? Please keep me posted on how you’re doing, and know that I will be praying for you. What state do you live in?
  22. Hey there! Congrats on your upcoming surgery. My date for surgery (bypass) is Nov 15. I’m getting all of my supplies gathered and hope to be ready to go. I’m 5’4, and currently 252. I began the process at 271, but I’ve been working hard to get the 5% or more off before surgery. Do you feel ready? What state are you in?
  23. Bless your heart [emoji4] My surgery is on November 15. I would love to hear how you’re doing each day! I am so nervous about all of this and I have no idea what to expect. Hang in there and take good care of yourself.
