Need mentor surg in Tijuana
aceupmysleeve replied to Rickilee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was very different comparing it to my experience in the states. The facility is nice. You can take a YouTube tour of it to see first hand. The nurses were very nice. If you are not Spanish speaking, understand that not all of the nurses speak English either. That is certainly something to be aware of. Do you have a support person going with you? Will you stay in a hotel before and after? -

I have been to Green and Health:) However, I don’t think that was the doctor I met. -

Congratulations! I had mine done in the states but have traveled with someone to Tijuana and stayed with them the whole time. I can compare and contrast firsthand:) Who is doing your surgery and where? -

Good luck! I had mine done here in the states. However, I have traveled with someone to Tijuana having the surgery and stayed with them the whole time. I know what it is like from both sides:) -
Can some people let me know how long you were in the Hospital?

I stayed 2 nights. My doctor would have let me go after the 1st night but I had a tough time with nausea. Then the rounding resident didn’t advance my diet on morning 1, and by mid afternoon when my doctor came in, I still hadn’t proved I could keep anything down. So I stayed an extra night. It was a trade off. I would have been far more comfortable at home. I would’ve slept and rested better without people constantly rounding in my room. However there was a payoff. The nurses kept me on a strict schedule of taking different antiemetics and made me a list of mini goals (walking laps in the hall, drinking so many ounces an hour) and I would check them off when completed. It was helpful to be accountable for doing those things. -
Constant nausea after gastric sleeve

I had the same thing. A nurse started me on a zofran tablet that dissolved under the tongue, phenergan, and compazine schedule. I also had a scopolamine patch. It took a good month to be able to wean off the schedule to the point where just zofran covered it. But at least I could start working on keeping fluids down and starting to advance my diet. Good luck!
