    Dumping syndrome

Oh girl I hate the gym too! lol I am 5 ft even and still have my gallbladder. I feel like it's a little harder to look like I've lost weight since I'm short but there is definitely a difference between pre op and post op. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? We seem to have a lot of the same stats.. we def could help each other!

    Dumping syndrome

I'm hoping to get to 130 too, so we pretty much have the same starting weight and goal weight! I know exactly how you feel. I'm hoping the keto diet works for me too. The sleeve is such a great tool! Especially if you are good at going to the gym (which I'm not LOL)

    Dumping syndrome

Wow, that's awesome! How long were you on it? It's very hard to stay on track. Even now with surgery, I catch myself trying to eat how I used to. Fortunately, my body doesn't let me anymore lol I haven't gained any weight, but have stayed around 170 lbs. My highest weight was around 230. What is good about surgery (at least in my case) is that although you can hit a weight loss stall, it's a whole lot harder to gain more back.

    Dumping syndrome

I'm actually trying the keto diet now. How did it work for you? Did you lose any weight?

    TMI but need advice...

Maybe this is dumping syndrome? Is there a lot of sugar in your protein shakes?

    Dumping syndrome

I have had the sleeve and have had dumping syndrome once. I can eat most types of ice creams okay, but this particular time I was treating myself to Blue Bell ice cream. BIG MISTAKE. It was way too sugary and rich. I didn't feel it right away, but a few hours later when I was grocery shopping, it kicked in. My fiancé had to do all the shopping as I was stuck in the restroom. It was very painful and lasted a few hours. Lesson learned lol but as long as you are not eating anything that is too heavy and sugary, I think you will be fine

    Less Restiction

    Thank you!

    Less Restiction

I am definitely struggling with carbs too. I have always loved pasta but had managed to stay away from it for awhile. As soon as I started eating it again, I got cravings for it all the time.

    Less Restiction

I think you're right, it does depend on what we eat. I just got so scared that I was starting to eat like I used to! But then again, I used to be able to eat a $5 box from Taco Bell, plus extra tacos and a burrito. But eating a lot of fruit is definitely better than eating all that junk!

    Less Restiction

This is exactly what happened this past week, wings and all! You're right, before I could eat 10-15 wings no problem, and now I'm worrying about finishing 5 lol. I just go worried that I was slipping back into my old habits. This made me feel a lot better, especially since this literally happened a few days go lol

    Pulled Pork

Thank you! I get sick easily too and I know how much it sucks! But the results are there so I guess the surgery is doing its job... We just gotta keep at it!! You look great!

    Pulled Pork

I had my sleeve done in October and I still can't eat it I get extremely nauseous. I guess it just depends on the person. Or maybe I just need to eat it prepared in a different way

Where do you RESALE your pre-VSG clothes?

I've had pretty decent luck selling on the Mercari app!

My mood is flatlined-will it get better?

I had my sleeve done in October and honestly, I still get mood swings. I'm thinking that it is because I used food to make me feel better, and now I actually have to deal with it lol! But things will definitely get better. I was very down throughout my hospital stay and didn't really feel better until 2-3 weeks after I got home. Seeing weight loss results will definitely help you feel better!

    Lightheaded

Does anyone else get super lightheaded when they eat ice cream or anything sugary? The other day we treated ourselves to a banana split and after about 2 spoons I just got completely dizzy and lightheaded. I felt so sick and had to lay in bed for a bit. I didn't feel full and didn't overeat, so I'm guessing it was just the large amount of sugar in there.... Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this?

    Lightheaded

It was about an hour or two after dinner... I knew it had something to do with my new stomach but wasn't sure if anyone else was experiencing this. I've had ice cream before and I've been fine, I guess it's kind of a hit or miss thing. I sometimes get this feeling with certain protein shakes... I'll just keep having to experiment and figure it all out I sometimes forget how sensitive our new stomachs can be

Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

Thank you! I went and just bought the Wal Mart brand and am also trying a probiotic drink. Fingers crossed this works for me too! About how long were you taking them when you noticed you were losing more weight?

Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

I am definitely going to try this. What brand are you using?

Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

My surgery was this past October. I started out at 220 and I am stuck at 174. A little discouraged but am going to start on my shakes again this Saturday. I'm 5 ft even and my doctor never gave me a goal weight either! When he asked me what my goal weight, I said that I didn't care about the pounds, I just wanted to be around a size 6. I went from a size 14 in jeans and an xl in shirts to a 10/12 and medium/large shirt. I'd like to lose another 50 pounds but I just need the motivation to keep going. I will say that my taste buds have definitely changed and I no longer crave all the junk food I used to eat, so I am sure that is helping me not gain anything back! Anyone else stuck at their current weight? I've been 174 for almost 2 months.

Issues eating 3 months into recovery

I had surgery in October too. I can eat most things, but can only take a bite if it is something heavy (I find food containing dairy products to be especially "heavy"). I can eat chicken but just a few bites or my stomach will start to hurt. I have noticed that the more water I drink, the easier it is to eat chicken, dairy, etc. My tastes buds have changed TREMENDOUSLY and I find most foods bland now.

Awesome! We have similar stats. I started out at 220 lbs and right now I am at 178! You look great!

    Eating months after the surgery

I had my surgery in October and I'm able to eat 3-4 ounces. You will eventually figure out what foods are sliders for you, but don't take advantage of it! It just so happens that one of my favorite foods (jalapeno poppers) don't make me feel full. In fact, when I eat them, I feel like I haven't eaten anything. But that's where the self control part kicks in. For about the first month out of surgery, I got into a small "depression" because I couldn't eat what was "normal" for me. But in reality, being able to eat the whole $5 meal deal box at Taco Bell wasn't normal. Being able to fit a large coke, double cheeseburger, AND fries isn't really normal either. That's a lot to fit into your tummy! Don't be scared. I definitely was and even thought about opting out of surgery the night before I was going to go in. But it's very refreshing to be able to eat less. I don't feel so bleh after I've eaten (vs feeling super tired after downing that double cheeseburger) and I definitely have more energy. You'll get used to your new lifestyle and seeing the results will definitely motivate you to keep going. Best of luck

Time to be honest. Anyone care to join?

I definitely thought that I didn't try hard enough to lose weight. I remember the night before surgery, I was very emotional and just wanted to go home. I felt so guilty because I honestly didn't exercise much and used food as a crutch when I was feeling down. I had my surgery in October, and I've gone from 220 to 180 lbs. I'm slipping back into my old habits (I've figured out which foods are sliders for me and take advantage of it). I don't exercise (hopefully joining the gym today) and I've stayed at 180 even for the past three weeks. Although my insurance covered most of my surgery, I still had to pay a hefty amount to the hospital. My advice to you is to not over think it. Whatever thoughts and decisions that brought you to the idea of WLS were for a reason. Do not feel guilty for wanting to feel better. I always thought of surgery as a reset button, a second chance to start all over. Don't feel guilty about wanting a second chance. You're exercising, which shows that you are committed to it! Be proud, girl! You're already taking steps to better your health and future!
  24. Did they give you like a body wrap at the hospital? Looks like a waist trainer. It definitely helped my pain and let me walk without feeling like I was pushing it. Sip your drinks and don't go too fast. Your tummy has just experienced a major change and is swollen so there is going to be some pain. Try a heating pad. It definitely helped me.

    Can anyone help

My doctor pushed me to buy the Bariatric Advantage protein powders. I think I paid around $450 for the kit, and it didn't include a whole lot. I now drink Premier Protein and the generic SlimFast shakes. My Bariatric Advantage protein powders pretty much go untouched, so it was a huge waste of money. They don't taste good either. I don't think a doctor can force you to buy a certain brand. I wish I had put my foot down and saved my money. The protein shakes I drink now are just as effective and definitely taste better.
