OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE
kandywolf replied to RomAnca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 10/17. I seem to be doing decent. I had some really bad moments at the beginning of the month. But I put on jeans I could not wait to fit back into, and guess what? They are big in me now! Those are what I consider victories! The scale makes us wonder and question. I do need more fluids, i do need more exercise. It is hard to level out protein with carbs. Trying to get that better! I need some carbs as I went from being diabetic to low blood sugar. It should even out at 6 months. I see my surgeon on Wednesday. 223. From 260 day of surgery. As of the weight of 225, I have lost a total of 125 lbs! Thats an entire person! I think that is so great, 224 to hit my realistic goal weight of 199. My unrealistic is 175. I have broad shoulders and wide hips, so I dont want to look like I have starved myself! I just want to be comfortable! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175 -
4 Weeks post op - I don’t want to do this anymore [emoji25][emoji25][emoji25]
kandywolf replied to Brandi.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please follow the advice above! I may be longer out, but my dr has tried everything he can to try to help me feel better. My acid reflux was bad, but nowhere near as bad as yours. I am on protonix 40 mg 2x a day and carafate 4x a day. I just had an upper GI during the week, and see him Wednesday (I was sleeved 10/17) Did you have reflux before? I did, especially at night, so I was on 40 mg of protonix in the evening. They did an EGD and I was sent to a specialist who performed another, and was ok’d for surgery. I did not have a hiatal hernia and had my gallbladder removed in 2005. Please either threaten your surgeon that you are going elsewhere for healthcare if he doesnt try something. How does he expect you to function for yourself, let along your family? My surgeon and his office have been wonderful any time I had a question or concern they have addressed it immediately! I had issues after surgery, couldnt keep anything down, nausea all the time. He personally came in 3x a day to address the situation and to personally know exactly what was wrong and to see if he could figure out why. I did not do well on cold items. If I sipped super slow room temp stuff, it eventually got better. His head nurse would call every evening for my first 2 weeks to see how things went that day. I also had her pager number and his. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. I am praying your surgeon or some other medical professional can get to the bottom of this quickly. I can not even imagine feeling like that 4 days out, let along 4 weeks. Please keep us posted. -
Coping with MENtal issues...
kandywolf replied to crazygoose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! I actually do have a wonderful church that I was baptized and became a member of October 2016. I have been going there on and off for about 5 years. Now I am part of the fellowship team and take care of our pantry and kitchen. All ways to refocus. Our church body is amazing! They have been so supportive and helpful throughout my entire process! They compliment me all the time, which still makes me uncomfortable, but i am trying to thank them. Its not only the compliment, but for thinking of me, keeping me in their prayers and loving and accepting me through my downfalls. I live in an apartment attached to my cousins house. We are a devoted Christian household. The house they bought, the first thing my cousin and i said is that it would be great for church functions, fellowships and get togethers. 2 days before Christmas, we had Dinner to glory our Lord! We had 30 people here, not including the 5 of us! I was very happy because it included some that are alone for the holidays. Especially the elders of our church. Every 3rd Wednesday evening, we host bible study here. And every Thursday evening we hold verse by verse here. Also at church, Friday night is dinner and study and of course sunday service and sunday school. Our pastor and his wife are amazing, and i am very thankful for them both, but especially her, because not only is she a nurse, she had gastric bypass a few years ago. She was the maitron of honor in a wedding dec. 2016. The dress was beautiful. For my birthday, the gift from her was that dress. And the card said because you are strong in the faith of our lord, I want you to have this dress as a goal. I know it will fit you some day so that you can be beautiful in it and enjoy it. I have faith in you to get where you want to be. I bawled my eyes out. The dress hangs in my closet in view. This way, its a constant reminder of the really wonderful people in my life that have cheered me on since day 1! i am so very fortunate. I count my blessings and thank the Lord for everything he has done, he does, and he continues to do! I am truly blessed! Thank you for you words of encouragement and your prayers! They are very much appreciated! God bless you! -

kandywolf replied to star2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had 2. 2 days before my pre-surgery diet i has a general tsos lunch meal with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The evening before I had 10 pc chicken mcnuggets with hot mustard sauce! Since surgery i have had 1 chicken nugget, just to see how It went. It went pretty well, but 1 and I was full! At least I know when we are on the road and in a pinch i can order 1 chicken nugget lol SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175 -
Mine totally took almost a year. I went to the seminar, was seen by an md at the weight loss center. Then I had an appointment with the surgeon. After that 2 egd (i needed 2 because of an indent in the top of my stomach) 6 nutritionist appointments each 4 weeks apart. Then psych, then my psych drs, then my pcp. Then I could no longer use my cpap, so I needed a new sleep study and each one of these appointments took weeks to get into. So it was 10 1/2 months of the waiting game. Good luck. I would also call and ask the insurance company. Gl SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175

I don't think I can wear these anymore....
kandywolf replied to KDBaker's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great job! What a difference! Congratulations! I agree your bank account wont be happy! Lol! I am very fortunate as I have kept my jeans from size 28 down to a 16. I am in 20/22 now! We do have a clothing closet, so that helps (all free, can go every week, and I donate back the sizes too big!) I got a pair of Rockin Republic jeans at Kohls before Christmas on clearance for $10. Size 20. They fit perfectly then, now not so much! I did buy a belt to help with that though! Lularoe leggings have been my life saver! I have worn them since I was a 28! So 8 sizes and they still fit! I bought 2 brand new pair so that was $50 and $10 or $15 for the used pair. $65 for a little over 2 years of wearing is awesome to me! And still going strong! Coping with MENtal issues...
kandywolf replied to crazygoose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is something I have struggled with since my x husband left me in 2010. We were together 12 years all together, married 9 1/2 of those. I was crushed. I have always been a believer in Christ-and it broke my heart that the marriage vows I said didn’t mean a thing to him. He said I had gained too much weight. Which I did. I was battling severe depression so I dropped a little over 100 lbs. I was back to the weight I got married at. It didn’t matter because that was an excuse. I looked for validation through men, when I should have looked for it through Christ. Fast forward to 2012, September 2012 I met a man who turned my life around. He said he was not a believer, but he had a strict catholic background and didnt want it forced on him any more. He showed me that I dont need validation from a man. If he truly cares about you, and truly loves you, he will show you validation, without you asking for it. Unfortunately 11 months later he had a massive stroke and passed away. I was crushed. My mom was my everything and 10 months later she passed away. I was devastated. I had an acquaintance in high school that we saw each other again and we started talking and we got along so well. There was never anything sexual between us. We were like brother and sister. April 2016 I moved 55 miles away. I felt lonely and detached. July of 2016 (3 months after U moved) he also passed away. I always feel like I dont belong, because of I am basically the only single one with no children. That I am putting on myself because noone makes me feel like that. That comes from within. I again was looking for validation through men. I have turned my life totally back to Christ and centering it on him. I have deleted all if my dating profiles. And this time they will stay gone. I need to validate myself. I need to remind myself that I am worth it. Validation needs to come from within. To love yourself and let others love you. Its hard. It is something I struggle with multiple times a day. The right one will come along. Patience, which I do not have ANY at all, needs to be on top of that! I live someplace where I really dont know anyone to “hangout” with. I feel lost and lonely. That comes from within and that is what I am trying to change. To take a compliment and say thank you. To stop putting myself down. To stop the negativity. To validate myself through Christ. To love and embrace the person I am and where I am trying to go. Sorry this is so long. Remember 1 thing, you ARE worth it! If you need to talk, vent, etc. you are more than welcome to pm me. Good luck. May God bless you! I actually am experiencing this at this very moment! This is only the 2nd time since being sleeved 10/17/17. Same feeling though. I feel like food is backing up out of my stomach. My acid reflux acts up pretty bad. Feeling of too much air/bloated feeling. Feel the need to burp for about a half hour. This is only the 2nd time eating ww pasta, and got it for both. My way to feel better? sit with my recliner leaned back so no pressure on my stomach. SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175

I do recommend a blender, not only to make shakes smoother, but for the pureed stage! I recommend a ninja. I would have never been able do this without it! If may be expensive, but man, it is worth it! Be careful on how much of things you buy. My tastes totally changed since surgery. I dont like bacon. It just takes like salt. Even the low sodium kind. Everything tastes either too sweet or too salty. The peanut butter cookie matrix shake mix I bought has to be mixed with pb2 and plain cocoa powder to make it less sweet. To me it tastes like licking a sugarcube! I use ice with everything now, it thins whatever is too sweet. I cant do any of the drink mixes unless I put 1/4 pk (the powder-sticks like crystal light) my sense of smell changed too. I have unflavored isopure and i cant deal with the smell! When i came home from surgery i had my cousin go and removed all of my air fresheners because the smell was so strong I wanted to vomit! Both have calmed down a little. Also, the ninja is awesome because it lets you make a shake into the consistency of a wendys frosty! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175

There is a menstral medicine (like midol) that has Tylenol in it. I use that if they arent too bad. Bad, heating blanket wrapped around my abdomen. Tramadol goes not work on cramps for me. It usually works for headaches though. SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175

I have PCOS. I was sleeved 10/17/17. Most of my symptoms have gone away. I am actually in dormant stage right now. All of hormones and etc are in check and good. I must say, losing weight may help you conceive easier. But also it may not. I was 160 - 180 for 2 or 3 years, and I as never able to conceive. I did lose 90 lbs in my own, before being sleeved. I wanted to prove to myself And everyone else, including my doctors that I could do it! My problem is that I cant keep it off. Sorry back to PCOS!! I knew when I was young that I most likely would not be able to have children. I never did invetro or anything like that. I figured if God wanted me to have children, he would make it happen. Please remember everyones body is different. I do take 400 mg of Welbutrin a day. Your body make up and any medication you are on, may benefit or inhibit your weight loss. I also had my thyroid removed in Nov 2016. I would speak to my doctor in that instance. Good luck! Hope the weight loss helps out greatly! It has for me, and I am very thankful to have it all be at normal levels for once! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175

Blood sugar levels up after surgery should I be worried?

140 is not horrible though. I know if mine goes past 160 then I need to call my dr. Mine has been steady 75-100, with out diabetes medication! I have to check mine 4 times a day. In the hospital it was going below 55 with out diabetes meds. Everyones body is different. Gl! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175 -

Ninja! I can make a shake and ice that it is the consistency of a wendys frosty! Bone broth was my go to! Matrix protein powders is what I use (perfect chocolate is my favorite) they are decent if they are blended. I can tolerate it in a blender bottle if I have to. I bought a sample pack months before my surgery and tried every flavor they make. 1 flavor a day until I did all. Perfect chocolate and peanut butter cookie were the 2 that I can tolerate. I have been using silk nut milk. Little thicker like cashew milk, but it actually has protein! I never knew almond milk had nothing! So it is a thicker consistency, which seems to blend smoother. 1 shake can give you half the protein you need a day! PB2 powdered peanut butter, flavor and protein. I could not do the protein water, it gave me heartburn. ETA! LulaRoe leggings! I started wearing them 80 lbs ago! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 228 (12/29/17) RGW 199 GW 175 -
I was wondering if anyone is having reflux issues? I am on protonix 40 mg twice a day and I have been taking antacids in between. My throat burns all the time. Worse after I eat or while laying down. The dr said they (my insurance) will not pay for EGD until after 6 months because of the healing process. I have a huge list of things I can not have, and have been following it. I am still getting it. Guess I need to call my dr. ☹️ SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 228 (12/29/17) RGW 199 GW 175
