I was sleeved 12/20. In my program we can't have fresh fruit for 4 months and salad for 6 months....I'm a little jealous. I'm stuck on canned tuna and cottage cheese for another week before I can have real fish (salmon, etc).

I can't have salad until next month just cooked veggies for now. 6 months no salad is a long time. I can have limited fresh fruits right now. They have to be soft fruit with no skin. so no apples and stuff like that.

I've been hesitant to try veggies, but I think I will slowly start introducing them.

I was sleeved on 12/6 and my surgeon gave me the ok to start soft foods last week and slowly transition to regular diet. I did try very soft over cooked broccoli and it felt so strange in my tummy. I want to try salad because i have been craving one so bad.

Has anyone tried any fresh fruit yet?

  3. Sleeved on 12/19 release 12/20. Suggestions for gas. I will awful. I can get my Water in as it also hurts but the gas (hurts). I’ve been taking GasX chewables but don’t see to help much. Also been walking

For me all the gas pain left once I had a bowel movement. I walked about a mile on day 4 and that got everything moving. Do what is comfortable for you and don’t over do it though. Also hot tea worked great for me also even though I had to keep reheating it lol

  4. I was sleeved on 12/19. The surgeon nicked a vein near my spleen. I lost one liter of blood. I had a fever, a cath and a drain. The drain is still in and is causing me major discomfort. I hope I get to go home today[emoji120][emoji120][emoji120]. I am having a few gas pains. I also have pain in my left shoulder.

Omg I’m sorry to hear that. Praying for a safe recovery for you!

  5. How are all my first week of December sleevers doing? Let’s get some updates.

I’m 14 days post op and feel so great! Down 18 pounds at my 1 week follow up. I don’t weigh myself at home. I go to see my surgeon again next week so I’ll see how much more I’ve dropped.

Only issue is my heart races after I eat or drink anything. Anyone else experiencing that too?

  6. My surgery was Dec 6, 2017. I am on the full liquids still until the 28th. It feels like anything other than liquids (ie plain nonfat yogurt) sits in my throat. I have realized I need to take smaller bites and drinks of everything or it hurts. I am really pushing to get in 64 oz of fluids. That is counting every liquid. I cannot tell if it is reflux or not but I am having some burning/discomfort at the bottom of my ribs. It feels like the hole to enter my stomach is smaller and cannot fit through. Not sure what is going on there. Incisions looks alright and I am healing fine. I keep trying to overdo it though. Baby steps seems to be the only successful way to accomplish anything right now in working and eating. Also, I have realized I need to write down times when I drink and eat. I thought I can keep track of it in my head but it was not a success. One other thing that has helped me be successful on liquids is if I feel I really need something and I am craving it then I put it in my mouth and chew it until it is like a pulp, get disgusted at the texture then spit it out. That way I have all of the flavor and none of the guilt. I hope this does not set me up for problems later though. Any one else feeling like this or having the same discomforts I am? I hope I am doing everything on the right path so far.

Congrats on your surgery. I was sleeved on the 6th as well. First the yogurt didn’t sit well with me either until I blended it with a tiny amount of non fat milk to make like a smoothie texture. I just take small sips of that and it’s fine. Try it. I have started writing down what I eat and drink. I use an app to keep track of it all.

I wouldn’t do the chew and spit thing because that can develop into an eating disorder or other unhealthy habits.

Hope you have a great safe recovery sleeve buddy!!

  7. Hi guys I'm 2 days post op and I still feel a bit sore at the big incision. I have a rolled up towel over it for extra pressure that feels better! I was discharged yesterday and working on the liquid intake[emoji4] up to 80 oz.. I don't think I'll make it to 80 but I'm going to try my best! Anyone out there have advice for Fluid intake post surgery?

Congrats!!! Hope you have a speedy recovery. The first few days I wasn’t hitting my Water goals at all but I was always sleeping. Yesterday I only took my pain meds at night so I was able to get to 56oz of fluids. Still not all the way there but close. I just sip sip sip all day. And I change it up water to broth to ice pops to watered down prune juice. Just make sure you stay with in your programs limitations.

  8. How are you doing Ruby? I had surgery on Dec 5th too. I got home on Thursday, doing better today except for the chills and sweats I've had. NP said it was due to the trauma of the surgery and is normal.

I’m doing a lot better today. Had my surgery on the 6th. I was in unbearable pain the first night but that slowly eased. I was discharged the next day. The two nurses I had were awesome. One even gave me a congrats card because just two days prior to my surgery I passed my nursing boards exam.

Once home I slept and walked. Last night was the first night I didn’t need any pain meds to sleep. Only thing that is bothering me is the constant gurgling in my tummy and all the saliva that I’m producing.

Hope you all have a easy pain free recovery!!

  9. Hi krys1386! Third post op day done and only issues are the incision pain and frequent gurgling in the new tummy after you drink. Unfortunately, I had to go get my monthly “friend” yesterday, so cramping from that isn’t helping. Lol! 2 more days for you! Good Luck! Keep in touch!

I have the gurgling too. It wakes me up at night. You’re lucky you got your monthly friend after. I stated it the hour right before my surgery. And it has been hell with the cramps.

    Good luck on your recovery!!!

  10. Thanks for the well wishes. I was just sleeping and walking my first few days. The pain was a little rough but today I woke up with no pain at all. Just some soreness at my incisions.

It’s hard having to train yourself to drink so slow. I literally feel the Water trickling down to my stomach. Such a weird feeling. Everything else has been ok.

The head hunger started. Yesterday I couldn’t stop thinking about having some tuna or cheese sticks.

You guys are almost there too are y’all excited?

  11. Got home last night. Surgery was a breeze. Recovery has its ups and downs. The first night I was in so much pain but they couldn’t give me strong pain meds because I didn’t tolerate them well. Next day I was up walking but still tight and sore. And of course I started the period from hell.
I have the worst pain from hiccups. After surgery I hiccup constantly. I only have four incisions the biggest one being in my belly button.

  13. I made it through yesterday! I unfortuntely wokeup at 4 am with a Migraine which wasnt how I wanted to start the day.7 :30 am Pre op went good. I woke after surgery throwing up but I was so out of it that it didnt hurt. I slept off and on until about 5 pm. Then everytime they gave me pain meds I was dry heaving ... which was the absolute worst. They finally figured out at 1 am that they needed to change my pain meds to something else. I was up and walking at 2am and was getting around pretty good. Slept on and off until 7 am. I had my Barium swallow and everything was good. I finally got some broth to eat. I should be discharged within an hour or two. I hope everyone has a smooth surgery and a better post op experience than I had. That nausea kicked my butt. Good luck to everyone.

    Yay congrats.
