    February bypass buddies?

Just got back from my final appointment with the surgeon. Received a date of February 13. They will submit my information to my insurance company, but I have no reason to think I won't be approved. Looking for any buddies February and/or surgery day twins.

    February bypass buddies?

I had RNY on 2/13 as well. Came home around 1pm on the 14th. I have an rd for hydrocodone, I think... But haven't filled it. Acetometaphin has been keeping the pain in check for me. I'm lucky I know. Been walking 5 minutes every hour and trying to drink/sip 3-4 oz every half hour.

    February bypass buddies?

Oh man, caffeine withdrawal is the pits! I gradually stepped down, then quit the caffeine when I first started with the program... I didn't want to go thru that and surgery stuff at the same time.

    February bypass buddies?

Yeah.. only carbs from veggies and fruit.. No bread, (or breaded stuff), corn, potatoes, rice, peas.... that sort of thing. It's to shrink the liver so its easier for the doctor to lift to get at the stomach for the surgery.

    February bypass buddies?

Good luck to everyone. What sort (if any) pre-op diets do you all have to do? It's funny now that I'm trying to be diligent about the starch free that it seems to be everywhere and is more tempting!

    February bypass buddies?

Starting my starch free diet... Have been trying to cut the starches before this, but now I'm going at it hardcore.

    February bypass buddies?

I'm also 5'6"... Weight at my final was 265. My heaviest on my home scale was 279. My surgeon requires a 3 week starch free diet, then 2 days clear liquids prior to surgery. That's great you already have approval! And Feb 21 really isn't that far out! I go for my pre-op physical and bloodwork next week (1/23).

    January bypass buddies??

That's the same general timeframe I was given! I have my final appointment with the surgeon on January 15... That's when I will get my date.

    January bypass buddies??

The practice I go to has us do 3 weeks starch free, then 2 days clear liquids.

    January bypass buddies??

My final appointment with the surgeon is Jan 15. I guess I'll get my date then. At my very 1st appointment in October she had estimated late Jan, early Feb for surgery.... So that's still right.

    Emotional First Aid Kit Book

I"m glad to hear its good! My surgeon's office didnt recommend anything in the way of literature.. but i turned this up on my own search (because hey, librarian!).... and put it on my Christmas list. My MIL already told me I'll be getting it for Christmas. lol! (At least she's being supportive, right?)

    January bypass buddies??

I am thinking unless there's a miracle, I'll more likely be in February than January. I have one more nutritional visit in December... then in January will get to meet one on one with the surgeon for a consult. Since my first meeting with her was in October 16th, and I have to have these visits at least 90 days I figure that'd put me at Jan 15th or 16th at the earliest to meet with her. Then the practice is to do 3 weeks of a starch-free diet, 2 days of clears.. So while I haven't heard anything officially, I'm betting on mid February for me.

    Bullied into the Sleeve

My surgeon said she wouldn't choose for me. So when I explained my reasons for wanting RNY (I already have horrible GERD, bmi over 40 and a family history of diabetes -- tho I am just prediabetic)... she agreed it was a wise choice for me.

Just wanted to say - good luck on your surgery! May your recovery be swift and uncomplicated.

    January bypass buddies??

My surgeon had said during initial consult that if all went well I could be looking at end of January/beginning of February.. So I don't know if that "counts" or not... Best of luck to you all, how exciting to have your dates!!

    Protein

I like to mix a little cocoa powder and Splenda in my Greek yogurt... Makes it taste like a chocolatey treat!
  24. I want to look better naked.. lol Also, I want to get back to running regularly like I did before I gained the 60lbs I had lost on weight watchers, plus 20 for reinforcement..... I had gotten up to doing half marathons. I want to do those again as well as one day tackle the full marathon.
  25. I'm pre-op -- first NUT visit this Friday... so far I've only lost a human skin, but hope to get as close as I can to losing a newborn giraffe.
