My doctor said no, but my aunt had this surgery before I did and she had it up until surgery. They don't want you to have it because you wont be able to have it after surgery for a while.

My Head Hunger Rant
Brittanyblue replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Right now i'm almost 3 weeks out and I only get in about 700 calories a day at most. Most of the time its usually like 580 but that's because I only eat when I'm physically hungry, which isn't very often. Is this normal? -
I was told no rice till after normal foods are introduced.

I'm feeling fine, pretty much normal. My stomach is tolerating the liquids pretty well and i'm glad that I can start pureed foods on Thursday! I can handle soup fine (the only soup I've wanted is tomato), i don't really like the creamed soups at all. I've been getting so sick of protein shakes but I force myself to drink them(it takes me about 30-40 minutes because I force myself). I'm down 17 lbs so far which is nice How you feeling?

I'm looking at all these people getting cleared for soft foods. I feel like my surgeon is the only one with such a strict post op diet. I was sleeved 12/28/17, first week home I was on clear liquids only, now i'm on full liquids until the 18th (which will be 2 weeks)then i have to do 2 weeks of pureed, then finally i get start a regular diet on February 1st. Is there anyone else with a diet like this?

I feel you! The beginning of the second week I craved pretzels! I've never craved that before the surgery. I feel like I am starting to notice the difference between my head hunger and real hunger, because my tummy does a special kind of noise when it's empty and wants something. But I cant tell you enough how hard it is to deal with head hunger. Makes you think what the heck do they put in food that makes it so addicting? I like the thought of being restricted because I had a problem with portion control and never feeling full. I would eat and eat until I feel full. I'm glad we have people to talk too and relate with, it feels nice!

Thats hilarious! I'll be sitting at work and it'll make a loud gurgle even when i'm not hungry and my coworkers can hear it. I'm like calmmmmmmmmmm down!

My tummy makes odd noises all the time, sounds like a dinosaur.

TMI question
Brittanyblue replied to TexasMommy80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’ve had diarrhea since I came home from the hospital. But it isn’t explosive and I can control it [emoji5] -
I usually pace myself and it takes me like 30 minutes to finish 1 yogurt. And it will leave me content, but then I’m hungry an hour later.

What to use besides Advil

Liquid Tylenol extra strength. Before surgery I would only do excedrin! Now I swear by Tylenol -

You don’t feel full with liquids because liquids form to your stomach and you can usually fit more liquids into your tummy because they have give. Don’t be alarmed. Mines the same way. I had tomato soup today and was content but I had cream of wheat yesterday and was stuffed. It’ll get better! I was worried about the same thing. Sleeved 12/28 -
I am phase 2 post op, but my surgeon has a really strict phase 2 and mine seems to be different then everyone’s. 1 week post surgery I’m on clear liquids only w/ 1 protein shake a day. That’s phase 1. Phase 2 is 2 weeks of full liquids, my choices are yogurt, creamed soups strained, broth, jello, pudding, popsicles and that’s it. Today I had some tomato soup w/ skim milk. And then couple popsicles and for dinner I had a protein shake. That’s all I really could force myself to eat today lol.

Day 2 on Pre-Op Diet
Brittanyblue replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You'll get through it! -
Try a heating pad!

I've done the same thing, i'm 8 days out and have lost 12 lbs since surgery. And 22lbs since the pre-op diet. I think it's because of my surgeons rules though...literally the first week I was only allowed water, Gatorade/Powerade, jello and had to have one protein shake a day, that was it. I think thats why I lost so much the first week. I had my 1 week post op appointment today and she did say I was on the higher end of patients first week loss, she said its normal to be at about 6 - 8 lbs lost the first week.

Can’t wait to see your results [emoji173]️

Girl, you're lucky! I only get to start full liquids for the next 2 weeks, then 2 weeks of pureed, then regular

Honestly I can’t wait till my full liquid phase to have cream of wheat! -
I’m on day 7 and felt hunger pains today for the first time. My doctor said to drink a protein shake and that’ll curb it till I’m on my next phase.

You got this! I learned from my surgeon that your stomach doesn't stretch, so just go back to the basics for a little while and it'll all fall back into place! You got this! Oh...and you're beautiful!
