Hi Amy! I think you are very brave! I’m 26 so not that much older than you and I had it on oct 13th. I think you are very smart to have gotten it earlier. You are young so you will bounce back faster! You have young skin too! During stage two I ate and still eat a lot of puréed soups. And it’s the perfect season for it. If you don’t feel like making it yourself, Panera has a butternut squash soup that is to die for. I don’t know where you live but if there is a wegmans with you they have a pumpkin soup that is delicious. Basically any soup that is smooth. So tomato bisque works too. I also drank vitamin water zero. I mixed unflavored protein powder into the soup so that I could at least try to meet my protein goal. I hope that helps! I’m not familiar with dumping. Unless you mean taking a dump. In which case my bowel movements have been normal. I hope that clears up for you! Wishing you the best!

You look incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Oh also they have unflavored protein powder I use the brand Unjury. I added it to my broth and soups to help me. Just make sure you don’t make the liquid too hot! The protein can congeal.

Congrats on the brave choice to have this done so young! Your future is so bright! I had mine on the 13th and quickly discovered I was not able to down half as much as I had goaled. Don’t even worry about it. Just try to stay as hydrated as possible. The first couple days I could only down about 4/6oz of protein shake a day. I’m at day 9 and if I pace myself I can get though an entire bottle. Everyone’s systems are different. Protein intake will come Once you can tolerate a wider variety of foods. For now rest, walk, and stay hydrated! You’ll do great!!!

Do they always go in laparoscopic?
BDME replied to RaynaRayne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought vsg was always laparoscopic. Why would the insurance company want them to cut you open? Therefore extending your downtime? That sound counterproductive -
I am a hot sauce lover. My friends just came over and everyone ordered Mexican. I just had some guacamole, it had a kick to it, I think their were jalapeños in it. My sleeve tolerates it well. I have been eating curry and other milder spices since day one of surgery since my favorite soup is a acorn squash apple curry purée. I haven’t had any trouble yet. I haven’t tried hot sauce just yet. I think I will hold off until I’m out of stage 3 for that.

Thank you!!!! I’m 9 days post op. 20 lbs down. Peppermint tea has been a life saver. I gave in yesterday and took some pretty rapid gulps of ice cold water. I regret nothing. lol. The gas pain was minimal, I think because it was cold and I was standing up. But yeah the peppermint tea is amazing. If you’re feeling particularly bad try drinking the tea then laying down with a heating pad on your stomach.

Why Getting Sleeved was the Biggest Mistake of My Life

This is a mess [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. Girl save your regret for your therapist. Nobody told you to fly to Mexico 2 weeks after making your choice. You sound like the perfect candidate for lap band. And you would have known that if you bothered to do any sort of research. Also you probably lost muscle because you didn’t weight train DUH. Also if people who are 40 look better than you I suggest you truck it over to Sephora buy some firming lotion and a vitamin c serum, or chalk it up to wrinkle prone genetics. 🤷🏽♀️ -
Why Getting Sleeved was the Biggest Mistake of My Life

Seriously. Email this article to your doctor. Since he’s the idiot who decided to operate on someone your size. I’m sorry you decided to have major surgery instead of joining weight watchers. But don’t mislead people because your own stupidity. -
I don’t own a scale so I haven’t weighed myself since before the vsg. Visiting my mother and decided to give hers a whirl. 20 whole pounds. Gone. I cried a little. That’s amazing. I remember working out and eating like a bird for months and only being able to shift my weight 7lbs. This is such a breakthrough. I don’t see if much in my tummy area, I feel the same. But my ankles wrists and fingers are definitely slimmer, and my little chubby chins are practically gone. So I’m counting it as a win. YAY!

I find that women’s multivitamins have a very high concentration of B12 & B6 normally well over your daily amount you need to survive. I take the vita fusion Women’s gummies energy metabolism and bone support. I love them and I can feel the energy body. They’re about 7/8 bucks at Walmart for a 70 count and have 300% of your vitamin B12 and 100% of your B6

You may need to get adjusted. I have had the same pain since surgery I was sleeved 9 days ago. I have an appointment with my chiropractor on Monday. It’s probably trapped gas, and going to a chiropractor can help release it

Your dr sounds like Mine and we had a similar starting point and the same size goal. Nice to see you hit your goal relatively quickly while still eating the things you enjoy. I hope to do the same. -
Oh snap is this accurate? I was born in 1991 so I didn’t get to see the shift. That’s kind of crazy

I’m only 1 week post so no coffee yet but as soon as that 3 week mark hits I’m going straight to Starbucks -
I know for me it was an insurance thing. The insurance company wanted to see that you were dedicated and they weren’t about to waste thousands of dollars on you. I only had to be down 1 pound for 4 consecutive months. So it wasn’t a huge battle. I know a lot of dr’s will not operate if you are of a certain size because the risks of death becomes greater. On my case my starting weight was a little under 300 and I had no mobility breathing or health issues that made it imperative i loose a certain amount of weight before surgery. But for people who may be in the 400’s and above they may have to loose.

How many months are years are you post op? I love seltzer and have not touched it since my vsg. (I’m only a week out) I’m wondering when did you start back up as I have no intention of letting it go. I hate diet drinks and would much rather have seltzer.
