    Petrified and indecisive

We are the same age!!! I’m a newly wed and I have PCOS. I’m only 16 days post op and I’m fine. I went out with my best friend last night. It’s really only going to suck for a little bit. You will absolutely be able to go out with your friends and have a drink or 2. After about 8 weeks you can eat whatever you want just in smaller amounts. They advise you not to get pregnant for at least a year after so your body can adjust. I work with a woman who is 1.5 years post op and is carrying a healthy baby boy with no complications. I am so sorry for your losses though. That had to be tough. I would say talk it over with your doctor. But don’t think it’s the end of your social life. I follow a lot of VSG girls on Instagram. They live full exciting lives. Once you get past the healing stage it’s fine. I hope this helps!
  2. Have you tried the gummies? That’s what i take because all others make me gag
  3. Should I be eating standing? Especially at work?
  4. Maybe because most of the people in my office are females and under the age of 30 I told whoever asked And nobody cared. They were excited for me actually. I got so many offers to go shopping once I hit goal weight. I didn’t really put any thought into not telling people. I didn’t care much

    Working post op

I agree with Diana. I started back to work today and it was a breeze. But I work in a really relaxed office setting so I didn’t foresee any issues anyway. I feel like I definitely drink more water at work than at home.
  6. It is a requirement. We have the same stats almost. Same height and my starting weight was 10lbs higher than you. In 26. Depending on your doctor will depend on how serious the “wait” will be. Your insurance usually has the requirements. Mine were simple 3 consecutive visits in which I had to drop at least one pound per visit. Super simple. I ate what I wanted. I worked out 2 times a week (sometimes) I also live in the city so I walk a lot. But I wasn’t put on a diet or anything. But every doctor and every insurance is different

Primary Care does not like the idea

They put you under full anesthesia for this procedure. Is that something you can do with a pacemaker? I think that would be the first major concern. Making sure your heart is strong enough for the surgery. I would maybe get a second opinion from a cardiologist before you make any final choices
  8. I had an amazing hospital experience. Everyone was kind. I do not have a reaction to anesthesia so there was no vomiting. I was up and walking once the anesthesia wore off. That’s probably my advice. Get up and walk if you can. It helps with pain, gas and prevents blood clots. You’re not going to want to eat or drink much. Depending on your doctor they make make you stay until you can keep down “full liquids” like milk, protein shakes and jello. My surgery was on a Friday at 7:30am. I was home by 1pm Saturday. Bring your earphones, and maybe a sleeping mask. (My hospital provided me with one, and it was a life saver, but I realize not everywhere does that so u might want to get your own) also my advice is take the stool softeners they prescribe. You will save yourself a boat load of trouble. I have heard some horror stories.
  9. My favorite was to order Wonton soup or pho (nobody makes a broth like the Asians in my opinion) and I would give the noodles to my husband and drink the broth. Other than that I did regular chicken both heated up over the stove. I sautéed garlic and onion and red peppers first then poured the broth on top to let it simmer. I added salt and pepper to taste. Strained the onion garlic and peppers before I drank the broth.
  10. My insurance required 3 visits with dietician with weigh ins. I had to be down at least 1lb every weigh in to still qualify
  11. I don’t think the point of the surgery is to make you sick when you eat junk. It’s to limit your intake. It’s really up to you just to make smart choices. Which it sounds like you have. The hardest part about this is adjusting your mind. The cravings will not ever go away probably. Cake and chips and ice cream are great.
  12. I’m literally screen shooting what you ate in a day. This is so helpful!
  13. My full liquid phase only lasted a week. But during that time I did thinned our puréed soups like butternut squash and tomato bisque. I just added a bit of water or broth to thin them out. I did cream of chicken thinned out with skim as well
  14. Puréed butternut squash, really any winter squash is good. I’m currently eating some pumpkin soup that is Devine. You can also eat really well mashed avocado.

    How long were you out

I’m 10 days out and will be returning tomorrow to work. I feel like this is the right time. The last couple days have been so great and I’m feeling more and more like myself so I’m excited about going back
  16. I am 10 days post and still haven’t touched the stuff. I was going to wait until my first post op check up. I know some people never stopped. I go back to work tomorrow so that will be the real test. I may have a cup
  17. As this week comes to a close I wanted to invite any and everyone who has had a win this week to comment and share. My big wins this week was loosing my first 20lbs and tonight I made my first venture into trying to able to tolerate real protein. I had a very small piece of chicken and it went well! Share your wins below!
  18. Omg yes my endoscopy was at 4pm. I couldn’t eat the whole day and I was a terror. I was so mean to my husband and mother. [emoji23][emoji24][emoji24]
  19. That was/is my biggest challenge. I hate small sips [emoji31]
  20. Omg! I can’t imagine! I took 14 days off.
  21. Anyone having a hard time feeling and staying hydrated during the first week or so post op? I’m constantly thirsty and these little sips I have to take are no quenching my thirst. Water seems to give me the most trouble with air bubbles. I get most of my water intake in the form or peppermint tea. I want to chug a bottle of water so bad. Someone suggested ice. Any other suggestions?
  22. I am 6 days post op . I feel like the area around my incisions are huge. It’s like I have 2 guys and upper gut which is like firm and bloated, and a lower gut that’s just chub from before. It’s unflattering and discouraging. in general I just feel bloated. I think I may be constipated as I hear that is common. But I’m not really sure because 1. I’ve never been constipated before and 2. I haven’t eaten anything solid so I don’t know what I would be moving out. I drank some stool softener in attempts to rid this feeling. Any other tips? And when should I be able to see this bloat go down. Am I expecting too much too soon? I go back to work Monday and I’d like to be past this bloat stage.
