What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
BDME replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a mini reese cup and HATED IT!! I used to love them. I didn’t even finish it and it was a mini one. I threw it away. Tried a mini kit kay a few days later and it was good, but had a very processed taste that I never realized before. I would have much rather had a piece of quality dark chocolate. -
Bariatric Sleeve-4 weeks post op
BDME replied to Tony22's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I’m with you Tony. I was just cleared and while I’m eating crazy healthy I have been introducing new foods. I had 1/4 a bagel the other day and a 1/2 slice of pizza. Just to see how I tolerated. And it took me an hour to get through that half slice. It’s def not something I will do every or every week but I refuse to give up the things I love completely. I live in NYC so pizza is as fundamental as water lol. I’ve introduced small bits of sausage and steak but I mostly stick to chicken & fish as my main proteins. Pinterest has been a life saver when it comes to recipes. -
It does kind of sound like you’re not intaking enough. 3 weeks liquid it kind of rough. I was on full liquids ( puréed soups, jello, yogurt, protein shakes) 24 hours after surgery and for the next 3 weeks I could have all of the above plus moist tuna, and puréed meats ( I skipped those cuz bleh) I just got cleared to eat regular food and I am rejoicing. You seem to be active. I’m not expert but my gut is telling me you’re not intaking enough for your body to burn off. Congrats on your weight loss tho! Every pound counts

Smoothies have saved my life. I couldn’t do the protein shakes I purchased. The consistency was terrible. I do strawberries blueberries mango pineapple and spinach most mornings
-
I don’t count calories. Because with my intake there’s no way I can eat enough to make me gain. I strive for no less than 60G Protein per day. I try to keep my sugar intake under 30g which I usually fall way under.

First 3 weeks I failed miserably. Heading into week 4. It’s much easier.

I knew this would happen but I didn’t think it would happen so soon!!!! I’m less than 20 days post op and shoes I used to suffer through I’m now swimming in. This is good news but now I have to get rid of all my shoes. Anybody wanna buy a pair of Christian Louboutin size 41 ? [emoji23]

I’m having trouble with my daily protein intake. I’m just not hungry. And things are starting to taste different. Like applesauce. Used to love it. Now? Can’t stand it. I’ve grown to steadily dispose the protein shakes I have. But I refuse to buy new ones until I finish it.... the only thing I do is drink tea, and occasionally coffee. (3x a week) I’m afraid I’m pushing myself into a stall by not eating but nothing tastes good anymore and I’m just really not hungry. Just some insight I’m 2.5 weeks post op coming out of puréed stage. Have tried some solid foods like small pieces of chicken and steak and they were tolerated well.

Is she against the surgery or against you going to Mexico to get it?
-
Sorry I miss counted my days. I’m 3 weeks and 1 day post op. My appointment is tomorrow where my doc would tell me if solid food is cool or not. So I decided to give it a try a little early since my tummy was tolerating everything else so well. I have to go get some yogurt. I had sugar free pudding and it was gross so I gave it to my grandma.

BDME posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost 30 lbs so far and I’m 2 weeks post op. But last night I sprained my ankle. My main form of exercise has been walking. But I’m not going to be able to do that for at least a week according to my Dr. anybody have any tips on how to stay active in a chair? Lol -

That’s very interesting! I am only a few weeks post and I started at a size 18 but I was 295. Crazy how everyone’s body is shaped and proportioned differently!

So I decided to try a reese cup at work. Omg it tasted horrible. My stomach took it fine but omg the taste. I threw the other half out. I guess my taste buds weren’t feeling it anymore -

Omg yes my smell is insane right now! -
You poor baby!!!! I haven’t had any emotion changes but my period has legit been on for 2 weeks on and off. Some days it’s full some days it’s off then some days it’s just spotting. My doctor told me this is common since I have PCOS and I haven’t had a period since 2 months pre op. But It definitely SUCKS. If it’s not off my my next follow up I’m getting medication to stop it

I think it also depends on how long you’ve been addicted to food so to speak. I have found that more mature ones (40’s and above) battle with hunger more. I got my sleeve a few days before you (I’m 26) and while when I smell something good I want it, I’m definitely not hungry. I have alarms set telling me to eat because there was a day I did nothing but drink water and orange juice. The only thing that temps me really are big fantastic breakfasts. Pancakes eggs sausage the whole nine. But I also ate something I shouldn’t have and I got sick, so that memory also keeps me from eating bad. You can probably also get more physical. Every hour I get up and take a couple laps around the office just to get the blood flowing. That may help as well.

I asked my doctor and several people who have had the surgery done and this is what they have told me. 1. Some loose skin is unavoidable. It’s gonna happen and is largely determined by genetics 2. Firming lotions help. Especially those high in collagen. I use the Jergens firming lotion after I get out the shower. ( granted I’m only 2 weeks post) 3. Weight training. This is a no brainer

How Does Anyone Know What To Do??
BDME replied to Taylor5's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Wow. I didn’t know insurance companies just didn’t cover it at all. That sucks. -
I take the vita fusion woman’s multivitamin metabolism and bone support gummies. I love them. They are high in iron b12 b6 and folic acid. I supplement with a calcium + Vitamin D chewable as well.
