Tomorrow’s My Big Day
Sue Sayers replied to Tanyatata's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bag packed, ready for tomorrow. 6.30am admission and first surgery in the morning (its 10.30 pm here in Australia). Nothing else I can do to prepare. Here we go....... -
I know exactly what you mean. My surgery is this Wednesday and I woke up this morning with a scratchy throats on one side. It's springtime here (Australia) so I am convincing myself it's just a bit of hayfever! I am up to day 11 of the pre-op diet, so there's no stopping me now!

Good luck,

I am on day 7 of the pre op diet. Has been a bit of a juggle as I am also a type 2 diabetic on insulin! I struggle with getting through the protein bars without feeling sick afterwards, the VLCD Soups are not the best tasting, so I tend to use the chocolate shakes more than the other products. One week to go, I can do this. Surgery next Wednesday 15th.

Liver shrinking struggles
Sue Sayers replied to Mystical33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day three of the pre-op diet and I think my body is starting to realise there are no carbs coming anytime soon! Just had lunch, protein shake and some salad vegetables but really need to stop the grumbling stomach. From what I've read on here after tomorrow it will be easier. Surgery 15 November. -
Day one of the 2 week prep diet. This time in two weeks I will be in hospital with no looking back!
-
I'm also on the 15th and start liquid diet tomorrow. My diet consists of 3 VLCD supplements a day, 2 + cups of vegetables (no potato pumpkin corn green peas or Lima beans), 1 teaspoon vegetable oil and at least 2 litres of extra fluid a day. At least yours has some meat!

I start my liquid diet on 1st November. I go through stages of excited to start / can't wait, through to 'this is going to be so hard' and everything else in between. This is getting real now! This last week I feel as though every day has been like the last meal, I have said farewell to red wine with a toast, a final salute to chicken kiev and mashed potato and a "get out of my pantry'' to any other demons that may be lurking there. Yep, I think I'm good to go now, bring on 15th November!

Hi everyone, signing in from Australia. I am having my sleeve done on 15th November, so I will be starting my pre-op diet on 2nd. My worry is that I am a type 2 diabetic on insulin twice a day, along with oral medication. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to juggle the low carb diet with medication? I work full time, so the two weeks pre surgery I will be at work with only my assistant knowing that I am having this procedure. I guess I'm just really worried of hypos in public or throwing my bgl out too far. I don't normally adjust my insulin against my readings, I'm on Novomix 30/70, 25 units am and 28 units pm as well as Jardiamet oral twice a day. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
