I've been reading a ton of posts on this site since I've begun my journey. I've gained a ton of knowledge ...you guys/gals are all amazing!! This is my first post. I've completed all of the pre-op requirements and my case has been submitted to my insurance for approval. I have GIC Unicare Idemnity in Mass through my employer. There isn't much info that I can find in wit members guide or on the internet about their approval process, stats, how long etc. I also read a ton of posts in this forum and haven't come across anyone who has this same insurance. My doctor has had patients in the past who have had this insurance. I am borderline 39/40 BMI, for co-mobs, my doctor is comfortable using my family history and putting the sleep ap test on layaway. I can't get a clear "what are the requirements" from the insurance co. I'm so anxious...Can someone offer me something to ease my mind? XOXO

Surgery Scares...how many do YOU have and how much of them vanish
Tanyatata posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on 11/14 and I have 7 (lucky) scars. I expected only 3ish. I didn’t think about it in the hospital because of my state but now that I feel a lot better I’m starting to think about it. I did have a few residents join in on the operation and wonder if “ they all had a turn” [emoji12] I also have been reading some of the success stories and noticed that on some of the after pics, I don’t see ANY scars whatsoever. Soooo...how many holes do you have? Is there something that I can use to minimize the scars? They currently have surgical glue on each. When will that come off too? -

You look amazing! Congrats to you and your hard work...how long did it take and what was your starting weight? -
So I was sleeved on 11/14. I am still on a shakes only diet until next week. Water is hard!!!...but I am doing it. I haven’t moved my bowels since surgery. I’ve been told by a friend that it’s because I don’t have any solids since I’m on liquid only. I’ve tried crushing up a gentle lax and still nothing...is this normal?

OMG! You are my work twin!...Before my surgery (happened on 11/14), I begged the doctor to let me go back to work on Monday. I was so upset when I saw the FMLA paperwork that said Wednesday 22nd. HOWEVER, I’ve been home for 1 day from the hospital. I stayed an extra night because I wasn’t doing well with liquids and had a second GI done. It has almost killed me to not check my work emails but I know once I do, I’m going to sent down an stressful, emotional spiral. I’m trying really hard to put me first and am actually thinking about extending my leave until next Monday after the holiday. I totally understand you when you say everyone and everything first before you and hey look where that got us! Hopefully you will have inspired me to do the right thing for me! Thanks for posting

So many emotions it’s crazy....I’ve waited a long time and it was a long journey...but I’m still scared. Packed my bag. I know it’s going to a restless night!!

Clear Premium Protein Shakes..anywhere near me?!?
Tanyatata posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Soooo excited!!...went to Costco to load up on my shakes for upcoming 2 week preop diet. I got chocolate and banana. I thought that I read on here that there are clear fruity premium protein shakes at Costo. I couldn't find them at the one near me up near Boston. Can anyone validate that these do exist and where I might find them...probably online I know.....but my insatiable nature would love to head to a brick and mortar and buy them nowwwwww[emoji12] -

Halloween = Last Day Before Pre-Op Diet
Tanyatata posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find it completely ironic that the day before my pre-op diet is Halloween [emoji12]. I’ve got all my protein shakes chilling in the fridge...excited for tomorrow because I know I’m that much closer to the magic date 11/14 -

I just got my FMLA paperwork to complete before my surgery. I'm a bean counter and basically spend my days glued to my desk. I also moonlight as a waitress on Saturday nights. I'm guessing that it will take me longer to get back to working at the restaurant. For my regular job I'm thinking if I'm having surgery on a Tuesday that I could possibly go back the following Monday...6 days?? How long were you out of work and what industry are you in? Thanks [emoji16]
