The lowest calorie ones, I think, are the Popsicle brand, sugar free at 15 calories each. They are available just about anywhere. I suppose you could also make your own with Crystal Light or something similar.

This. I buy the Costco brand which has cookie dough and brownie, are much cheaper than the Quest brand and do the job.

I love the Syntrax nectars as far as powder. The Kay's natural white cheddar puffs are good. The mac and cheese ones, not so much. There are a few protein bars that are good and taste like candy, but I prefer the generic quest bars from costco. I don't need to be tricking my brain to think it's eating candy -
That was one my biggest annoyances. I had to sleep on my back for about a week, and I'm exclusively a side sleeper. Between the surgery and a bruised rib during, it was impossible to side sleep. Sometimes recliner helped, sometimes not.
-
Never even heard of them until I started reading here. It occurred to me to be a good thing for my bruised rib after surgery, not the surgery itself. Never got one, it all passed quickly.

From what I've seen, it runs the gamut. Mine says under 100g but a lot of them I've read on here say under 25g .

Time to be honest. Anyone care to join?

I definitely thought, "Maybe I didn't try hard enough" and in fact, I started seeing the Nutritionist at the surgeon's office with the intention of NOT having surgery, just accountability, because my insurance wouldn't pay for a nutritionist otherwise. But, after a few months, I started realizing that I was really good at short term and really really bad at long term. I turned 50 in June and decided that it was now. I needed an extra tool to help past the 40 or 50 pounds that I lost at least 10 times, then gained back and always more. I was 6 when my mom took me to Weight Watchers the first time. That's a whole other story, of course, but that started the yo-yoing that lasted 44 years. I feel like I did it just in time....before menopause and before any serious health issues (other than sleep apnea). I'm not going to say these three months of have been easy at all, but so far, I'm still glad that I did it. Good luck to you and don't doubt yourself. Seriously! Happy New Year! -
Also, maybe some coconut oil. That seems to be a miracle solution to a lot of things

Can you try a topical Benadryl? You are probably reacting to the glue. I have had reactions to adhesives for years. Those are usually worse than whatever was being removed or stitched up.

Gallbladder was way easier.

How is your GERD hunger different from regular hunger? I am on meds twice a day, so I really don't think my hunger is GERD, but I am hungry all the damn time and it's making be irritable and generally crazy. I can't imagine it's GERD hunger and I know it's not head hunger. I thought after surgery, you aren't supposed to feel hunger. Guess I'm just lucky.

Week 3 after sleeve - weight loss slowing
KarenOR replied to jjdonkey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens. It's super frustrating. Try to stay off the scale everyday, it just makes it worse. I just had a two week stall and I was doing everything I should . You just cannot predict how the body reacts at different times. It's a big change, which is why I think the 3 week is a pretty popular time. Just keep plowing through.... -
Eating months after the surgery
KarenOR replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It depends on the kind of foods for me. I'm almost 3 months out. Some things aren't sitting as well, but I can definitely eat 3-4oz of protein and a few bites of other things. Lots of people have trouble with carbs, I don't. I most certainly can eat nowhere near what I did before, obviously. But I also don't eat so minimally that people think it's weird. -
I did soft chews for the first two months and then switched over to pills. I found one on here actually that is only once a day. It's a good size but certainly not as big as some vitamins I have seen. I also took Celebrate soft chews caramels for the Calcium+D. I just got tired of all the chewing of those things. Wanted to swallow and be done.

I've been using the postage scale that we already had. Works great.

I think it's nice. They work really hard and probably don't always feel appreciated. There were lots of notes up in the halls at my hospital. You could send a nice fruit basket or edible arrangement. I'm sure they would appreciate that. But even just a note, I'm sure is much appreciated.

Waiting an hour to drink after eating
KarenOR replied to Samib226's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think forever. At the beginning, I think it's about getting too full with the tight pouch, but later it continues to be a matter of pushing the nutrients through your body too quickly. -
Breast reduction- did anyone get one after surgery? If so why?
KarenOR replied to xoxococojay's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
You look amazing! I've lost about 70 pounds and my huge boobs are starting to deflate. I remarked today to a friend that I didn't think one should be able to fold over their boobs. I don't know that I would do it just for clothing, but it's 100% what you feel comfortable doing. There are lots of types or coats and clothing. Plus, anything can be altered by a good tailor. You can for sure be documenting as they start to hurt, and I imagine they will. Hopefully with that, the insurance will be more likely to cover it. -
Okay, seriously, I'm so over the hunger. I thought it wasn't supposed to be there, and especially not right away. I'm 2 months out yesterday. It is NOT head hunger. It's not acid, I take protonix twice a day. It's a deep empty and sort of gnawing feeling. I don't know how to describe it exactly. It makes it hard for me to fall asleep . It wakes up during the night. I'm eating about 1000 calories a day, starting with liquid at breakfast and eating solid for dinner. 80g at least of protein, less than 100 and usually less than 50 carbs. I'm drinking right at 64oz if you include the protein drink in the morning. It's a little hard for me to drink as much as I used to because I get so hungry. I'll eat a string cheese and then have to wait another hour. I think I'm doing okay weight wise but it's really hard being hungry. Any suggestions? The NUT at my office didn't have suggestions other than drinking more. Waiting for a call back from someone else.

I had the sleeve 2 months ago. I chose the sleeve because i really didn't want things to be rearranged. It seemed the less invasive of the two main ones, even though, it probably is about the same. I do wish I had done it a long time ago, but then the sleeve wouldn't have been so widely used. I'm 50 now with kids 15 and 9, so better late than never,

I haven't ventured into raw veggies yet. I do eat some cooked ones when I can. I don't eat red meat or pork or anything. Poultry or fish. I don't eat at night after about 7pm. I remove myself from the floor where the kitchen is I guess more trial and error. Maybe cucumbers can come back into my life?
-
Yep, always and the middle of the night.

My plan doesn't have a specific calorie amount. They said, somewhere around 800-1100, but that protein is the most important and carbs under 100. The reason I drink a protein shake in the morning is because I'm usually running around taking kids, getting stuff ready for the day, etc and I can do it on the go. He advised to keep one shake a day. I'm not a good eat food in the morning person. It takes a few hours of being awake before I can eat. It's just how it is with me. This is my typical day. Morning: Protein shake with two scoops (50g protein), 1.5 c of 30 cal.cup almond milk. Ice Snack: Trader Joe's lite string cheese Lunch: Quest bar or 3oz deli turkey, maybe a piece of cheese, occasionally a half an english muffin with tomato sauce and cheese Snack: Kay's protein snacks, 2 sf popsicles Dinner: Turkey(recently) or chicken 3oz. some homemade bone broth soup, usually with carrots in it. Snack: 2-3 SF popsicles I tend to eat while I'm at the computer working. It just takes too long to sit and focus on only eating. I know that's bad, but if it's just me, I cannot sit there. I will eat much more slowly if I am doing something else as well. I get full easily on 2.5-3 oz of protein, but it doesn't stay that way for long. Thanks for any tips. I was up again last night trying to ignore it from 3-4:30am.

On the Fence about Weight Loss Surgery
KarenOR replied to MissLindseyR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Only your decision matters. If you love your body, more power to you! There are plenty of thin and "average" sized people who hate theirs. You are still pretty young to have a lot of the weight related health problems, but they are probably coming. I am 50 and two months out. I had surgery before I was diabetic, but it seems that's pretty rare, at least around here. I yo-yoed for probably 40 years. I just couldn't do it any more looking forward at how hard it was to keep it off.
