Can some people let me know how long you were in the Hospital?
KarenOR replied to sug7768's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to stay for 2 nights but stayed a 3rd because it was quiet compared to my house with kids [emoji12] plus, I had such bad acid that I could barely drink. -
Can you elaborate on the method for bone broth in instapot? I am an instapot novice. I have made one broth in a crock pot but imagine its better as faster in the insta. Thanks!

I had GERD before and it was well controlled with meds. I really didn't want bypass. The few days post-op in the hospital were brutal for the acid. Since then, I've had it a couple of times. I'm almost 4 weeks out.
-
Acid can also cause some serious pain. I've had it in the past and it's been worse with the sleeve, even on meds!

When did you have coffee again?
KarenOR replied to BacktoSkinnyMadi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Decaf was fine on my earliest liquid plan. I just had my 3 week post-op and asked About caffeinated. He said one cup is fine but to drink an extra cup or more of water. Caffeine is dehydrating . So that plusthe the acid for some people make it not the best choice. I think a lot of recommendations are due to the dehydration factor and not being able to get enough fluids already in the early weeks. -
CPAP after surgery
KarenOR replied to sweetsleeveday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 50 pounds so far and still use it and assume I will for quite a while. It feels the same. I have just the nasal pillow so there isn't even anything to adjust. I almost cannot imagine sleeping without it. -
Need Encouragement 2 weeks out
KarenOR replied to riemgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was instructed to keep carbs below 100g. I don't think you have to do zero carbs. It's not realistic. Saltines were on my stage 3 suggestions because they dissolve, like oyster crackers. But that meant a serving not a sleeve of them. Just keep at it., results will come! -
I guess it depends what they consider liquid. I had two weeks liquid then on week three added puréed. Mostly though, I'm just doing liquid because the protein shakes are so much easier than trying to figure out what to eat. I include some broccoli /cheese soup, broth, SF pudding, popsicles.

Mine was a 6 month pre-op nutrition and ended up about 10 months total. -
Dehydration
KarenOR replied to Excitedforthesleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm interested to know what the symptoms of dehydration are with the sleeve. -
Unexpected Hiatal Hernia

I think it's pretty routine that they fix them while they are in there. -

When did your appetite return post op?
KarenOR replied to chiara's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3.5 weeks out and I've been hungry almost the whole time. It's a different feeling of hunger but it's definitely physical and not "head" hunger. I ignore it for the most part, and keep drinking. I was really hoping it would go away, like I've heard. -
post-op sleeve and antibiotics?
KarenOR replied to KarenOR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I took them last night. It was fine. Pretty small. The mucinex I'm swallowing is much bigger. Thankfully not having trouble with pills. -
Anyone have experience? I am 3 weeks,2 days out and have an upper respiratory and possibly sinus infection. My allergist called in a z-pack. I called the surgeon on call who I think was just a general surgeon and he said it was okay. Wondering if anyone has taking anti-biotic. Thanks.

Water, Water Everywhere...
KarenOR replied to hap314ness's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been a water guzzler in the past but am having a hard time getting in enough with just sips. It's really annoying [emoji849][emoji12] -
Liquids and slider foods will go right through without making you full. What's a day look like otherwise?
-
She should consult with a bariatric surgeon., they will likely be able to find something that can help. But definitely no ibuprofen before or after for a while. Having said that, after bruising my rib, my dr said Advil was okay for that as needed. I was a little over a week post-op.

Getting in the liquids

Depends on your plan. Mine is 70-90g per day. -
Stomach Cramps after "Eating"
KarenOR replied to amb052492's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take it really slow and allow your body to heal. It definitely takes a while. -
Just starting.
KarenOR replied to doingitformydaughter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was long too. Almost a year by the time everything was done and approved and all hoops jumped. -
Protein powder. Costco has decent ones and reasonable prices. Sugar free popsicles. Yogurt, depending on your plan. Cream soup or something that can be blended.

I agree, don't panic. If it's clear and doesn't stink, it's not likely an infection. For piece of mind, I would have a nurse or someone else look at it.

Sitting in a show? I think so. I actually did about 8 days post-op. Holidays would be hard because of all the food, but if go in knowing that and don't get upset about not eating, you should be fine. You can't lift anything over a gallon of milk weight for 4-6 weeks.
