    Has anyone ever...

I had a chocolate premiere warmed in coffee this morning. I don't find it as filling as making a shake but it included coffee so all was good.

    Protein Cookie?

Kay's has a bunch of pretty good protein snacks for the crunch. I bought some of the white cheddar and thought they were good .
  3. These are really good! https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/chips-1/products/kays-naturals-protein-kruncheeze-white-cheddar-cheese

    Weight loss already.

I never gained weight after the surgery either. I also, weighed starting when I got home, for better or worse. It just kept going down slowly.
  5. I am all of a sudden disgusted by the soft chews that I got at Celebrate vitamins. Are there any gummies out there with similar composition?
  6. That it interesting about the hernia. I was in the 5% who had GERD without one though.

    Pros and cons of surgery

I think FishOn mostly covered it. I would add that a huge pro being that it will mostly end the massive yo-yo dieting that I did my whole life. While you can gain weight again, it's often not as much as without the sleeve. It just makes it a lot harder.
  8. I developed it when I was pregnant, so I have been on one Protonix a day for 15 years. I feel like it was pretty bad. Without meds, I would be miserable, feeling it all the way up my neck sometimes. I started taking 2 a day after surgery just until everything is healed and the weight starts coming off.
  9. I have GERD. I didn't want to be rearranged. I wanted the sleeve. My surgeon didn't have any compelling reasons not to have it. It's been totally fine as I keep on my meds. Will I have to be on them all the time? Who knows. I'm willing to wait and see.
  10. One minute at a time! Go away from the kitchen. I basically lived on the bottom floor with the kitchen above. I had my husband here and my mom sending over food to feed the kids. There was no way, I could have done it otherwise. Even mindless hand to mouth would have gotten me. You can do it!

    Nervous

You can do it! I turned 50 in June. It was a good kick in the ass to get things going in the right direction. My kids are still home for a while, 15 and 9. I have time to make an impact on my life and theirs. Go you for wanting to run! I never want to run unless I'm being chased

    Weight loss and Calories

1200 in preop sounds like a lot. I think I was at about 600-700 for the week. Maybe your surgeon has a reason. Double up on the protein powder?
  13. I would say that exercise is crucial in the long run but with such restricted calories in the weight loss phase, you can do without as far as weight loss goes. But, exercise can only help. What about water? Water walking, jogging, water fitness classes. All are low to no impact and so good for circulation. Nothing wrong with walking only 15 minutes at a time, either.
  14. Mine was only one week of protein shakes 2x day and one small 300-400 meal. Surgery was fine. I think some surgeons just go overboard as a precaution.
  15. Yep. I'm a month out and I still feel drained. Some days are worse than others. I feel okay, just run down and I really think it's due to the low amount of calories.

    Post op liquid diet

I actually found the opposite. If I made the protein shake extra thick, it was easier to drink and twice the protein.

    Making noises

CRAZY noises and stinky farts for whatever reason. Certainly not from the foods, since that's minimal.
  18. I was very glad to know that other liquids count as water. There was NO way on earth I could drink that much water PLUS the other stuff. I've been eating a lot of ice. I bought a few big bags of pellet ice from Sonic. It doesn't hurt your teeth and it counts as water!
  19. I had the same pain and it turned out to be a bruised rib. It's likely gas, but it could be a bruise, which they cannot do anything about anyway. Try some heat. My surgeon okayed Advil once it was diagnosed, but I only needed it a few times. It take quite a while to go away though, just in case that's your situation.
  20. I made it through, too, with nothing, but there is still a 5 gallon bucket of candy sitting here. MY kids get to eat some tonight and then keep a small container and then it must GO. Sadly, not only do I still have full hunger, but I have full on interest in eating chocolate! I'm hoping if I do ever cave, it makes me horribly sick

    Bariatric vs. Unury

I got one that is so gross, too. It came from celebrate. I've heard the Unjury is way better.
  22. My surgeon said a straw was okay at my 3 week post-op, just go slow and see how it feels. I haven't yet, but am not afraid to try it. It's an air thing. Same for carbonation. I know post-op people who do. I think if it feels bad, don't do it and make sure to get your nutrition in first.

    Down 165 lbs since March 28, 2017

Wow! Nice work. Hope I'm as successful!
  24. So, I made bone broth and tossed in carrots. Basically, it's a liquid, minus the carrots. Does this mean, I shouldn't really eat it during a meal, as it will help other stuff slide through? I'm having the hardest time with not drinking before and after. I get why, but it's so hard. I have taken some sips. I just couldn't hack it.
  25. It does take a while to get used to it. I don't even really notice I have it on anymore (it's been years) until I wake up with the impression of the hose across my face Do you just have the nose pillow, as it's called? It's not a mask, just goes in your nose.
