Awesome. It's big here. My daughter did JR derby for 3 years then quit because she didn't want to do full contact.

Healthy eater before sleeve. Will I succeed?
KarenOR replied to dreamynow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was pretty much the same. Good food, just bad portion control. Occasional sugary binges. I think you just have to keep plugging away and see where it gets you. If it doesn't make you crazy, cut the carbs, if it does, maybe limit a little more. I have no real suggestions other than I get it. -
What are you doing for yourself today?

I love the pool. All summer I would run for almost 2 hours in the pool. It's harder in the winter with limited hours at the pool at the gym, but I still much prefer it to land. -
I Have a cholonoscopy today :/
KarenOR replied to dreamingsmall's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ugh. The prep is a million times worse than the procedure. I had one done to celebrate my 50th birthday on the same day they did the endoscopy in prep for my sleeve surgery. Hopefully, it all went well and you are back to normal. -
Keeping Plastic Surgery a Secret

It's nobody's business. If you aren't up for telling them, then don't. Maybe you will later, maybe not. Don't sweat it. -

I"m taking my son to see Coco while my husband and daughter are working in a fundraising booth at the UO/OSU game. I am also in the process of cleaning out and selling a ton of crap that has been lying around. -

When does food not need to be chewed to complete mush?
KarenOR replied to Mhy12784's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never actually vomited. I've spit up a couple of times from eating too fast, I think, or taking one bite too many. It's a learning process there. That's the sleeve though. Vomiting is probably a different issue for bypass.n -
I'm jealous too. I'm hungry all the time. Deep gnawing hunger. Sucks. I very much wish I wasn't. It would make things a whole lot easier!

When does food not need to be chewed to complete mush?
KarenOR replied to Mhy12784's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pretty much suck at this. I'm sure I never chewed 30 times. Two months out and I'm chewing less than 20 for sure. Is that good? Probably not. But I don't think anything is going to get lodged. -
Did you really overeat? I can't imagine that you could really on liquids unless you just meant you drank too fast. For over the first week, I was basically just sipping on a protein drink throughout the day. I think I was about 500 calories of drinks for at least the first 5-7 days. Then started adding other things,, like soups. Liquid is very difficult to actually fill up on. It goes right through, and most people don't get a full feeling with liquids.

I really like the Nectar ones. I ordered a sampler pack and ended up getting a big tub peanut butter cookie. Every morning, I use a half scoop of that and 1.5 scoops of ON chocolate whey from Costco. Almond milk and ice. Blend. It's the one thing I have not gotten sick of yet.

What did you guys eat at 6 weeks including snacks.
KarenOR replied to Jeanette95's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty much eating similar to what I have been. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. I have a shake with double protein in the morning, then throughout the day, I'll eat a few ounces of deli turkey, some kind of 2% cheese, a crunchy protein snack, soup or a little bit of something I make for dinner for family. Ground turkey, beans, cheese goes down okay. Maybe an egg. Usually some SF popsicles -
53 pounds lost
KarenOR replied to FAT TWO FABULOUS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
7 weeks out, about 40 pounds, 63 total . Haven't been on scale in a week. -
My surgeon said it was fine to have a cup of coffee a day, as long as you drink an equal amount of extra water. Everyone has a different opinion.

Disappointed by food

I wish I wasn't hungry -
No, I went to soft foods 3.5 weeks ago. It's been 6.5 weeks surgery.

Seriously, I thought the sleeve was supposed to make that go away. It's not quite the same kind of hunger as before, but it's certainly NOT head hunger. It's starting to really annoy me. I am eating about 1000 calories a day with a minimum of 80g of protein. Breakfast is always a protein shake with 1.5 cup of 30 calorie almond milk and two different scoops of powder for a 50g protein total. The past few days that has been going right through me, not sure if I'm drinking it too quickly? Does that happen? I'm wondering if the artificial sweeteners in jello and popsicles and even some of the protein powders are messing with me. Before the sleeve, I only used Stevia or Monk fruit sweeteners. I really cut out all the true artificial ones. I haven't had this much in many years. Thoughts? Experiences?

There are too many variables. You should call the surgeon's office and ask.
