Gallbladder removal: warning for others
Melly75 replied to Katariina's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My doctor has me on Ursodil to help prevent gallstones and said I would be on it until I reached my goal weight. -
Are the 8 grams of sugar added sugar or natural sugar? If it is natural sugar than 8 grams isn't a big deal, but I would be careful if it is added sugar. There is a big difference between what your body wants and what it needs. Your body shouldn't need 8 grams of added sugar.

Best piece of advice!! I am blown away by some of things people say they are trying/eating.

When you started your program they weighed you. That is your starting weight. As long as you don't go over that starting weight I don't think you should have any worries.

As everyone has said, it does get better. Sounds like you don't like Optifast. Have you tried anything else? There are a lot more shakes out there that you can try. Also, can I ask what your A1C is? I was on Metformin up until the day before my surgery. My A1C was 6.5 at that time. I have not taken Metformin since surgery (or any other diabetic medication) and at three months post op my A1C is 5.3 which means my diabetes is resolved. So I hope that lifts you up a little to know the diabetes can resolve itself rather quickly after surgery with no medication to help it.

I like Premier, Boost glucose control and now enjoying Slimfast Advanced.

I am guessing that because you were feeling really hungry that you might have ate too fast and/or too much. I see that even though the yogurt has 11 grams of sugar, there are 0 added sugars so the natural sugar was probably not an issue. I eat yougurt all the time with no issues, but one night I was chatting away to my daughter and not paying a lot of attention and realized very quickly that I ate too fast and it had to come back up for me to feel better. So just be mindful to be prepared and go slow, even if you're really hungry.

Make sure you are getting your required amount of protein in each day. I am 10 weeks out and I had a stall around week 7. I realized I wasn't getting my required protein. Once I made sure I was getting all my protein, the weight loss picked back up.

Time off work and telling co-workers?
Melly75 replied to Livetothrive's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
1. I took one week off. I have a desk job so it wasn't that hard to go back to work. 2. My company doesn't require a reason to request time off because we are provided with a certain amount of paid time off. I did mention to my boss that I was having surgery, but that was as far as I went with it. It is not their right or business to know the specifics. 3. I didn't tell my coworkers anything because again, it's not anyone's business. If you feel the need to tell them something because you know they will question your whereabouts, I would simply say you are having surgery. If they ask why, just let them know it is a private matter. -
It sounds like you are doing fine. Only eat what your stomach allows you to eat. You don't want push it and end up with bad over eating habits. Just make sure you are getting your required protein in. I am 10 weeks out and I stayed with the soft food phase a little longer than what was required because that is what I was comfortable with. My nutritionist said that was not uncommon. I very slowly started adding more regular foods (one at a time). Again, just make sure you are getting your protein in.
