Oh - I forgot - who is the new one in Thornton (?)- I wouldn't go there as I don't want to be the first...lol ... just wondering

Yes, he does it as outpatient surgery at Rose Medical Center. Everything is streamlined- no unneccessary waiting if you can get your things together before you go and see him. I started last year on December 15th with going to one of his seminars and getting info there. (I had researched the band on my own for about 1/2 year). Called to get an appointment with him in January and went ahead and scheduled the psych and pulmonary exam before I saw him. You will get all the information in a package that you get at the seminar. Also made an appointment with my PCP and Kim the nutritionist (who herself had gastric bypass done by him a few years back) . Saw him the end of January, they put in my paperwork to the insurance- got OKyed and got my surgery date. All together not even 3 months- I ask- what more can I want? Any more questions- don't hesitate to ask.

Happy Friday! DrewsLou, 8 bands are not really that many!? I would b every hesitant to go there - I know Dr. Snyder said he had done about 350 the last years. Much better ratio - and sofar very good statistics- no problems with bands eroding or slipping or other complications. One of his patient did not so good- but that was not band related! He's awesome - he always goes like the energizer bunny- if you could bottle his energy my gosh..... But he will take the time to explain everything to you - even 2 or three times just to clarify it. He is also very thorough. You will like him- go meet him at one of his free seminars- there are always uddels of former patients there and at the end you can talk to everybody and ask questions- some of his staff is there too - for insurance questions or nutrition or just everything- my DH and I were impressed! Good luck to you - I will keep you informed.

Auto-immune Disease and Band Rejection
Archermom replied to Amanda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Delarla, your last post rang a bell with me- I work with women after breastcancer surgeries - many of them have or had reconstructions. Guess what - their implants were mostly made out of Silicone. That's were all the big controverse started- if the silicone or a leaking implant can cause autoimmune disease or make an excisting one worse. I am wondering if that is what they are referring to in a roundabout way - since the band contains silicone - could that in some cases make an excisiting auto immune problem worse? Just my thoughts and 2 cents. -
Hi Donali; not that I wan't to bend something else out of shape but.... your german instructor did not tell the truth ( I didn't feel right to call it just plain a LIE) lol Germans do make some mistakes.... not many nad never big ones but I just have to tell it as it is....:faint:

Hello, I'm the proud mom of 2 beautiful girls and I love archery ( longbow and traditional Recurve ) as well as collecting specialty bows. Our whole family does it as a sport - we even set up a archery range in our backyard. Woooosh....

Kim, have you ever tried St. John's Wort? Or something that has helped me tremendously is called 5 HTP. My MD recommended it - he is more for natural meds that hard core drugs. There is a lot of info out there on the internet just google 5HTP. And if you like what you read order it through the internet - it's a lot cheaper then GNC. (I'm not selling or making money with this - just like feeling better) Hope this helps you!:clap2:

Hi Diva, BMI stands for Body Mass Index and there are sites here were you can calculate it. Here is a link that will first bring you to "your ideal body weight" and on that page you can click on BMI Calculator. You give in your height and weight and it will calculate it for you. If you are over an BMI of 40 Lap Band could be done without co- morbesities. Hope this helps. http://ww2.khou.com/global/Category.asp?c=40564

Hi Kat, I'm a massage therapist and if I knew that you had this kind of surgery done , I would not be caught dead doing deep tissue work on you - it would probably be much to uncomfortable for you anyway! Have your massage therapist do some medium tissue work - you tell her how much pressure and make sure she/ he knows where the port is positioned! Do not have a therapist tell you what - you - can or should be tolerating! Or you could find somebody who does manual lymph drainage which also would greatly help in reducing the swelling in your tummy area. For all other areas- give them a go if you can tolerate it. There is "NEVER" a need for bruising , even with a thorough treatment.

I would love to pen pal! I'm 46 years young, happily married to the absolute greatest husband on god's green earth for the last 18 1/2 years, have 2 beautiful girls 16 and 13 years old and I'm also mom to 2 fourleggers - a St.Bernard Mix boy and a Turkish Kangal girl. We call Denver , CO our home. I love to read, write snail mail, do Calligraphy, play with the dogs and am so into house plants. My girls don't think it's cool to spend a lot of time with their parents at this time of live..... I'm a Massage Therapist in a PT clinic and specialize in manual lymph drainage. I came to the states 15 years ago from germany and ..... .... would love to exchange mail and thoughts with somebody. I just received a call today from my care coordinator from UHC that I am OKayed for my surgery - WHOOP WHOOP.... Happy dance! :) :huggie: :boink: :woot: :fish: :Banane45: :Banane45: :Banane45:

Hi Jessiebear, the plant on your first picture # 27 looks like an orchid; the second one is a Pothos as someone readily identified and the third one is an Christmas Cactus. If your Jade does not survive (I hope it does - but I would be more then happy to send you a new one- my DH would be ever so gratefull about me getting rid of some of my plants, LOL). Or if anybody else would like to have one :rolleyes - just let me know. Maybe we could trade some plants - as long as nobody tells my DH! :heh:

Hello, I loooove spinach, but only if it's creamed. I cook mine in the microwave with just a little water, some seasoning and maybe some small pieces of onion or onion powder. When it's done I run it through the blender until it is like cream and serve it over a blanched egg. HMMMM, great.
