It's funny how they're all so different. My doc encouraged me to try scrambled eggs three days out -- I didn't! But I did move to applesauce and very runny oatmeal around three or four days' out. Tonight, I'm going to make chili and then puree it -- looking forward to some meat!

I am one week out day and feeling much better today than even yesterday. I'm actually sitting at my kitchen table catching up on some work from the office. I moved to pureed foods today, and I can already tell a real difference with my energy level. I am looking forward to next week when I move to soft foods! I've been very blessed thus far with eating and drinking -- nothing has made me sick. I dealt with nausea and gas for several days, but today has been better. Incision pain is also finally getting a little better. I can stand up straight again, and I can get myself out of my recliner. I've lost 7 pounds since surgery and 21 pounds since I started the pre-op diet. Progress!

What did you take to hospital?

Lip balm and Biotene spray were the most important things I took. I bought the Biotene the night before based on a recommendation here, and it was a lifesaver.

I just got home from the hospital. All is still going well. Having some significant pain in my left-most incision. Otherwise, I feel fine. Just need some sleep. Best wishes and prayers to everyone whose surgery is coming up soon. At least from my perspective, it's not been as bad as I was afraid it would be.

Officially on the losers' bench! Surgery was at 8 this morning All went well. Now just dealing with the "too many crunches" abdominal pain. No gas pain as of yet. Tolerating water fine. So getting ready to try chicken broth and Jello.

Well, tomorrow's the big day. Not as nervous as I thought I'd be today. Just ready to get past surgery and start healing.

One week from today! Can't believe it's this close. I still have bouts of nerves, but overall I'm settling down. I'm ready to begin this new phase of my life!
