wjgo got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in DECREASED expenses after the sleeve? Obviously food, but detail is requested
If you don't have the surgery, how much could you be paying in diabetic medication? Special items to accommodate your weight? How much do you value a better lifestyle? How much do you value having an easier life than being obese? The payoff is 20 years from now.

$200 eating out? You can make that zero, and cook your food at home.

wjgo got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Two Weeks Post Op
That is good. As you loose weight, you'll be able to do more
Pre-op I could make by stand 30 minutes. I can do over 2 hours now, maybe 4. I was able to walk a mile, now 4-5 (not sure because instead of walking I am trying to do a couch to 5k)

wjgo got a reaction from BigLu18 in I just need to vent...
I wish I had the surgery at your age.
If you did not have the surgery, and waited to my age, you would have gone through 20 more years of failed diets.
You will still have to loose weight naturally. Bariatric surgery is NOT a solution, its a tool. Even people with the surgery will loose weight, and gain a lot back because they stopped working on their health. Your stomach will get larger eventually. This surgery is NOT a one way track to your ideal weight.
YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR DIETS NOW, NEXT YEAR, AND FOREVER. Let me repeat that, YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR DIETS NOW, NEXT YEAR, AND FOREVER. The surgery is a big help, a giant jump start and increases your success potential.
It's all up to you to keep on your diet. And your diets won't be enough, you need to be active, and exercise more than you have before. As you loose weight, you'll be able to so more, and it you want to get to your ideal weight, you will need to work out, naturally, like everyone else.
You had your surgery not long ago, your rate of weight loss will taper off, and then you'll be working hard.
.
So, in the relatively near future, you will be working naturally to loose weight still, or maintain your weight.

wjgo got a reaction from Chunkysoup in Preop diet, why protein shakes only?
After surgery, it's very unlikely you'll be hungry. Your biggest issue will be trying to eat and drink the diet. Many times you'll have to choose between Water and Protein (choose water).
I take that back. Most people by the end of the liquid post op diet hate and detest Protein Shakes, and you will be eager for the puree stage!

wjgo got a reaction from macadamia in Eating slowly
Most instructions will be to eat over 20 minutes. Counting or timing chews is tedious. Just devide your food into 4ths and set a stopwatch or use a clock for 5 minutes for each division. Or further devide into 8ths and eat each divisions over 2.5 minutes. Each division could be several bites. So if you set your timer, you'll know at 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5 and 20 minutes to finish each division. And just be sure to chew everything well. And stop if you are full.
